Isn't it remarkable that JFK still resonates as a leader and style icon six decades after his death? In his time, he was probably only upstaged by his glamorous wife Jackie, which he joked about publicly.
It is remarkable, indeed. Dying young certainly memorializes people to an extent, but you cannot deny the star power and impact Kennedy had during his presidency
You forgot to mention his love for penny Loafers shoes , another timeless wardrobe classic that can truly upscale our style. And Jockey Club smells really good , is a scent I can recommend with no hesitation to men over 30s. Great video indeed , thank you !
I think the late 50's - 1960s was the greatest era for timeless mens fashion. Not a whole lot of gimmicks . Lots of simple understated pieces like collared shirts/polos. Great video on JFK. I very much enjoyed the intertwining of culture and historical background. Would love to see some videos on the icons from that era (People like Steve McQueen, James Garner, Paul Newman, Clint Eastwood, Elvis Presley, and Marlon Brando etc)
Im old enough to remember the 1960s. I liked the style then. Men wore narrow peg legged trousers , and it was very smart compared with what was to come in the 1970s with flared trousers. I wore both.
Extremely interesting! At the risk of creating a "presidential series," I'd also be interested in your take on President Obama. Stylistically, he's probably not quite the icon JFK was, but I think his inner confidence is second to none. He's well read, smart, urbane, witty, and with a fantastic sense of timing in delivering humorous retorts. As someone born the year after JFK was assassinated, I feel like President Obama is my generation's JFK, and his confidence and persona are what I aspire to more than anyone else in the public eye.
Thank you, Scott. I agree with you regarding Obama. And I think it is possible to discussion politicians without being polarizing. There is something to learn from every great man, regardless of your political affiliations.
Very interesting video. I’ve been diving deep into the world of fragrances thanks to you and RMRS/ Scenteno, and to learn that I have that Original by Eight & Bob worn by JFK was a cool factoid I didn’t think I’d find this weekend. I’ll be sure to wear it even more now
Wow! Love your look here! Great jacket and tie! You’ve continued to put out great videos, man. Awesome work, keep it up. They just get better and better.
JFK wa also a WWII Navy officer. And commanded PT 109 torpedo patrol boat. He received the Navy Marine Corps medal for heroism. The highest non combat medal for heroism. Cheers Ron
he also gave his wife jackie many sti's contracted from his numerous affairs, and also took the virginity of a 20 year old intern at the white house after getting her full of booze!
I am old enough to remember JFK and read a ton about him. His style was fabulous. The only thing is men hardly wear suits these days. Perhaps copying some of his casual style would be more enlightening.
Thanks for at least subtly hinting at his adultery. Most people try to keep that under wraps and we shouldn't let it stop us from recognizing his multitude of achievements and influence.
He might have worn those scents but his signature scent was definitely America One (31) by Krigler. This is well documented. When you go into Krigler's shop at the Plaza Hotel in NYC, there is a sizeable photo of him. His wife Jackie's signature scent was Patchouli 55 by Krigler. Krigler isn't cheap by any means but they were wealthy beyond measure so I'm sure it didn't put a dent in their pocket.
A few months ago, I came across a 1920s Gillette new style deluxe razor like the one Kennedy used. His recently sold at auction for way more than I can afford. Nevertheless, when I shave with it, it always seems to be a more productive day. It’s a little ridiculous, but it keeps me going. Thank you so much for doing this video! I really enjoyed it. Be well!
I am a woman and a trained beauty therapist. I can thoroughly recommend that men use a badger brush as part of their shaving routine. It gently exfoliates and massages the skin. My father used a badger brush until he died at the age of 89. He had wonderful skin right to the end. He also resembled Steve McQueen, which was a bonus. Lol. My father always dressed well too. He was quite a head turner.
@@TeisteBrito-r4k that really is the way to do it. Shaving was never anything special to me, but everything you mentioned makes me look forward to it. Be well!
Gent Z: Another superb video. You are really doing great work. I have a question/observation. Please notice that in many photos, including the one you inserted here, JFK buttons both buttons of his suit jacket. Please study then comment on this style choice. Thanks and best wishes to you.
By the time he was Senator he was getting custom suits from Chipp/Winston Tailors in NY. They were rarely solid, but subtle glen checks, stripes, or textured fabrics
The collar tie bar in the portrait at 1:14. Are they ever appropriate these days? Are there dress shirts that the collars are not too wide for them? I have a few in my jewelry box because I'm old.
You have a quite consistent style and I quite appreciate that. I do the same. BUT, as a 1-to-1 style consultant, you could make a video showing you are not going to dress everyone like you, but giving advice tailored to the person (environment, wallet, how quick and how much he's willing to change...). 50cent.
A big part of his "style" is just that that's what you wore back then. Yes, his upbringing and social standing played into it but no one of any socioeconomic level would have dared leave the house like people do today-- fat, badly groomed, crocs, cargo pants, sloppy t-shirts, and pajamas! People have no pride and no shame. I wear Eight and Bob's Champs de Provence. Makes me feel like a Kennedy! Now if I only had their money!
I think JFK's style and mannerism weren't original. I think he had help in everything he did. Everything was for show, even his wife was allegedly picked by his father. You got to understand 90% of Americans owned TV's. JFK was high on drugs for aliments, cheating on his wife daily, and there was s cold war going on that the FBI and CIA were freaking out about because they knew what JFK was doing, but the American people didn't. It was so bad that a Russian submarine almost launched a missile off the coast of Cuba. The JFK conspiracy goes so deep that they think he was cheating on his wife with a Russian spy, but communist Russian sympathizer LHO acted alone. Even he said he was a patsy before Ruby assassinated him.
Do you really think JFK got the time on his hands by hooking up with random women while in office? He would have been impeached like Clinton. The guy was facing pressure by other people if we should go to war in Vietnam, which before he died he wanted to withdraw it. He was facing the missile crisis, the civil rights movement, and the bay of pigs.
No doubt JFK was a snappy dresser and had plenty of charisma but he was a deeply flawed man. A constant womaniser, he once confided to a startled old British Prime Minister, Harold MacMillan, that he needed to have sex every day otherwise he got terrible headaches! The famous actress Angie Dickinson once joked that she said to Kennedy “wow Mr President, that was the most exciting ten seconds of my life!”
Please Michael Jackson, He has the most unique, ostentatious elegance of any American style icon. I’d love to hear you delve deeper into what makes The King of Pop such a beloved timeless style innovator.

WRONG! Clearly, you are not studying your history correct. JFK STOPPED it and communicated with Russia. JFK was against war and knew that it would be the end of the world if he listened to what Pentagon & CIA tells him. JFK STOOD up & listened to his instincts instead. That's why JFK is a HERO!!! He even set up a direct phone line to Russia to contact him anytime. The Pentagon hated it. The boss of Pentagon went behind JFK to the Congress and whined about his own boss. Jeez! The CIA hated it. No wonder, they had him killed.
From the time he was a student at Choate, Harvard or even Oxford in England, JFK always had swag. Even when he was relaxing, he always looked great.
Nice. I love JFK. I recently saw Oliver Stone's RFK movie.
