I met Mr. Reyes, in the old Stapleton Airport, in Denver, in 1994, (the new airport had a baggage carousel problem which delayed the opening... Again).
Efran was just another guy in the not-so-busy airport, but I recognized him right off. (I'd been the president of our local league for A few years, by then.) I approached him, begged his pardon, and asked if I was right about who he was. His English wasn't great, but he made up for it with his smile and humility. We spoke for a good half hour, awaiting our respective flights.
He was nothing like I'd expected. I never expected him to be such a genuinely nice person.

Ditto to Sebastian, I think if more 'kids' dropped their damned phones and computers for enough time to go play a couple of games many would get hooked and add it to their gaming suite. Computers are great, but the real world is better, MHO. I'm not going to argue whether it takes more skill, or not (I can't since I'm not an avid computer gamer), but I can darn sure tell you it takes a LOT more bodily skill.
I play pool on the phone occasionally but most competitors are uninteresting and completely clueless, and even with the ones who obviously know the real game of pool, some a good bit better than I do, but even when I run into them on very rare occasions, when I actually bother to run the 'chat' portion of the app, it quickly becomes infinitely more apparent they play real pool, as even with just canned single word replies the pool nature of the banter is obvious.
it's not remotely as much fun though, or nearly as interesting as the real game, and requires pretty much no skill. That, from a personal standpoint, I very much can comment on. Oh, and the physics of EVERY one of them I've played absolutely sucks. On one if you use draw or follow it radically changes the object ball path, BENDING it (follow even draws the object ball back directly OUT of the pockets, routinely. I've had that happen on a real table about four times now, and I used to play a LOT, at least a couple of hours a day for about three years, and it never had anything to do with the follow used, just shot way to hard or and/or an excessive amount of balls already in the pocket).
Even funnier the English exhibits absolutely no squirt or swerve and no throw effect, and it has virtually nonexistent effects off the rails, which on a real table I can easily alter paths to two to three diamonds down table with a parallel to short rail shot path. Frozen balls don't throw, you can't masse, at all, you can't jump, balls follow into pockets where they would clearly be still skidding on a real table by virtue of draw and or speed and would actually freeze in place, like a short fast shot, and on and on, ad infinitum. And multiple rail ball paths are extremely suspect. I'm pretty sure a competent carom player would just laugh at them.
Clearly the SW guys that wrote it know NOTHING about pool, nada, zip, clueless. The real world pool is SO much more interesting ...uhmmm... and it's real, so there's that, as they say. It's just like what I bitch about in practically all movies, especially science fiction, they can't get ANYTHING right, from a physics standpoint, except on very very rare occasions where they obviously made an effort, like 2001 or even moreso the Tom Hanks Apollo 13, and he STILL got one thing wrong...amazing how they got it all right when they 'faked' the moon landing 50 years ago, with no graphical computers whatsoever (eye roll).
Obviously a few liberties taken with the problems, etc. on Hank's movie but pretty spot on from a physics and reality standpoint, and I understand that if you are not making a documentary entertainment is the primary purpose, so that's fine.

Watching this for the first time in 2021, still got my adrenaline going!! What a match this was, how did I missed the carier of Efren?, I DO NOT KNOW! I had a young family and let pool go all together, after watching several of these videos, (and the kids are grown and gone ) it has really really got my blood going, I have removed my "sneaky Pete" stick out of the closet and dusted it off, thanks for the videos.

the last shot that Efren took is too easy for him to pocket in the corner but what he was really planning to do is pocketing the nine on the side - he is the greatest showman and he wants to entertain the crowd! what an unselfish act for the fans and everybody watching around the world. Simply the best!

i think he didn't really intend to shoot it in the corner pocket, but in the side one. he gambled the most important shot just to entertain the crowd, for he's a true showman. unluckily for him, the 9-ball didn't went in. he's accepts his defeat with a smile, though.

2:37 knowing Efren's awesome positioning I would say that shot was intentional or else you would see the que ball land on a spot where he can easily shoot the 9 ball after the 8 ball. If you look at that shot, it was clear that the que ball was going straight for the 9 instead of slowing down to a position for the 9.

Was a fluke that why he was laughing so much over it after his shot he was just shocked you could see it. But he played so godly nearly every shot he takes so he deserves that type of luck as well
