Bro hear this out, there is a guy on internet that says he has solved the main issue that causes bearings to spin - by replacing oil pump gear with smaller one from m57d2 193hp and using the n45 valvetronic chain on upper camshafts gears and m57d2 chain minus one piece to make it smaller for the crankshaft chain. He also recomends to make dpf off to prevent high heat getting on the block and dilate it to the point of spining bearings. It’s interesting how would that translate into reliability, he claims problem solved because higher oil pressure from 0.9 bar increases to roughly 1.4 -1.5 bars at idle which means better lubrication of entire oil dependant system.
Very informative video. I do have the same engine on f30 platform and it still sounds smooth however only on 105k miles. Unfortunately makes no financial sense to change everything on 10 years old vehicle as such a job would cost here in England easily 5000£ and the x5 on this mileage would probably cost 10k if not less. I am very impressed it actually got to that sort of mileage I guess it has been serviced as should.
Hi, i have the same problem with my engine n57d30c. What do you think is possible to put the new version b57d30c? It's a major difference between this engine blocks?
greetings, I've been following you for a long time, otherwise I'm a car mechanic, I'd like to know what the main problem is with turning the bearings, do you have a specific answer, thank you
Nobody has 100% answer, but mostly bottom end design, weak cylinder block main tunnel which is twisting because of bad reinforcement and crankshaft design also ofc
@@crank3646 I personally drive a bmw f10 n57, 400,000 km, the engine has never been opened, the oil interval is 7000-8000 km, I plan to open the engine, refresh it, is there an oil pump kit or a better oil pump, do you know

Great video, its quite rare to see so much details from workshops when doing repairs on client's cars.
5 months on the lift? Usually workshops lose money with every day when some lift is unused :D

Better to use also thiker oil likes w10-40
@@giulianomelli9119 if you remove dpf you can use 5W40 idk if any thicker than this would work for the tensioners of the timing chains
The problem is not with oiling, the crankshaft is too soft and it bends, that's why the outer main bearings are worn.
@@adamturowski8948 yes scania also had this problem because of the material used the crank deforms and takes down two bearings
Very good job, and good video too to explain all the work .

Alot of detail, great video, thanks for posting.
How many miles were on this car when the bearing failed? I'm not sure I heard it mentioned. Thank you.
270000 kilometers/apprx 165k miles
Very good job, and very much Information 👊
5:28 само аз ли виждам някакви мустаци в отворите на коляновия вал, където се завиват болтовете на маховика ?

Yes
