I have a freshwater fish tank, and when I clean the filters I use that water which is very rich in nutrients for my orchards. They appear to absolutely love it and bloom almost throughout the year.

Orchids have been valued for millenniums. Evidence suggests that the Chinese were growing them more than 4,000 years ago. On the other side of the world, Montezuma, who ruled what is now Mexico from 1502 to 1520, reportedly cultivated several species of orchids. However, it was not until the 1800’s that the quest for these plants increased dramatically.
In 1818 a man in England named William Cattley received a shipment of tropical plants from Brazil. In the packing material, he noticed plant parts that looked like roots. After planting them, he was delighted when they produced a beautiful purple bloom. This particular type of orchid is now known as the Cattleya.
During the 1800’s, it was a fashion of the rich to collect unique orchids. New specimens in particular could command an exorbitant price. By the turn of the century, however, the orchid craze had diminished. Then it resumed decades later when inexpensive methods of artificially propagating orchids were discovered. Now anyone could enjoy these exotic flowers!

It would be really helpful if you would tell us how long we could expect these changes to occur whether it be very soon or many weeks , we need to know do we don’t give up to long snd his long we should leave the pad on the stems please ? I have done this to four of my orchids. They are kept in a fairly cool room during the winter. Should I put them back into that climate, or in the house where it’s about 10 degrees warmer? 😊. Thank you o your guidance. I used the garlic , and I have new buds ! Cheers

Phals need temps to fluctuate; warmer during the day, cooler temps at night in order for them to start spiking. I grow them in Florida. Outside, bright light but NO Direct sun. During this last cold front that hit 32 degrees at night, my buds “bloom blasted.
@@OceanLife772 thank you! I’m in S. California. Mine are in my studio and it’s been fairly cool at night. We’ve had lots of rain. I keep a small heater going at night for my cats that sleep out there. So, mid 50* to lower 60* at night. During the day temp might get to 70* lots of indirect bright light. Once I started putting them out there, with cooler nights, I did noticed re blooming. Especially the white ones. Im hoping they like this technique with cucumber peel. Smells better then the garlic 😉. Which made the place smell like someone smoking pot! Haha. Orchids are definitely addictive. 🌿🌸🌹🌼🌿

Cada quien es libre de tratar a sus plantas como quiera pero, mis orquídeas siempre florecen, y lo único que hago son tres cosas básicas:
1. Proporcionarles la luz adecuada a su especie.
2. Proporcionarles la humedad, riego y temperatura necesarios.
3. Proporcionarles los nutrimentos necesarios NPK y micronutrientes.
NADA M'AS.

Really? I am sceptical too. I am testing out the banana peel tea method on an older orchid that I think will be a goner. So if it kills it faster, then these methods are lies. We'll see what happens.
