  • The Montrose Ride is arguably the largest Saturday ride in SoCal. Justin Willimas from Team LA Legion regularly comes to this ride and he finished in the front with the roadies. And yes he dropped me with less than 2km to go. The ride starts with 80+ riders, then some more joined in during the ride. Most riders are dropped throughout the climb sections. A competitive racer is not likely to get dropped in any flat sections as there's hardly any massive attacks done. Purple guys did some but they were easy to react. But the ride has a long heart attack 3-5% climb in the end that lasted 7-8 minutes long. Given the speed they are going, any non-climber is likely to end it in that last section (on or before Grandview)

MM, what an amazing effort and thanks for coming out and doing such and EPIC ride. You showed up and showed out!!! A few things: 1. The guy in the champion jersey was Eli Watson of BrosRideBikes (YT CHANNEL). 2. The Williams brother I think you’re making mention of that dropped you was actually Cory Williams and not Justin. Such a great Montrose Long 0800 Ride video - Thanks for sharing!!! 🤙🏾

It's an awesome ride with race size, I suppose summer time even has a larger crowd. The last 5k of steady climb leaves riders a big room for improvement in addition to all that yoyo effect on the flats. Tho the street lights are a bit much.. I'll check out his vids, he got good form pulling up that climb.. it was just too much grounds to cover from the rear.. till next time~

Hey… congrats for coming out - and rolling with the 800 group… 🍻… I think that was coldest I’ve ever been doing that ride, that morning…. Hope you enjoyed yourself… 😎🙌🏽

Amazing job doing the 800 extra long version especially coming in for the first time and doing as well as you did. If you had more familiarity with it, I bet you'd have done even better.
As a 45 yo asian myself who's been riding for a little less than 2 years, wondering what kind of work you had to put in to get to this level.

Thanks! I been racing criterium for the past 5-6 years, crash and burn, broken bone and still going.. When you love something and hungry to win, everything else just feeds into it

@@mmfong297Just noticed your text on a second watching talking about the type of riders for the 8am version. Pretty intimidating. By the way, part of your video segments are out of order. Starting from 21:40 to 23:03 should be slotted right before the segment you have starting 30:32.

@@ChrisHsu Ha, good catch! I need to get a better software than Virb too.. it's pain in a hole to add commentary sound with the current platform

why are some bikers using oncoming traffic lane and running red lights? Some bikers seems so entitled that they can ignore traffic laws and expect on coming traffic to yield to them.

The Montrose ride occasionally has encounters with cars from people running reds

Yeah, you gotta be at least mid pack before that long steady fast climb.. by the time you are close to Grand View, everyone is dead around you

Wow, if our local Saturday ride pace lines were that messy and dangerous ppl would be getting everyone back in line. Saw 4 and 5 wide ppl on random lines acting like it's a race.. I guess Cali people just do whatever they want. 😂

I was not expecting Grandview to be so hard when I did the ride in October. Only 7 of us even made that left turn.

Yeah, the William bros and the roadie with the white Venge were setting up a race pace in the last 5k climb. I don't foreseen any non-racer could hang this.. if you made it to the finish w/them, you should be ready for CAT1

@@glenndugger2680 You don't get it. Blowing through stop signs is not legal and dangerous. Your guys could have caused lots of accidents. This rider was fortunate not to rearend the car at the end.

I do road rides in a group or by myself and try to follow the traffic rules as much as I can. Some riders don't do that and make rest of us look bad.
