I have been telling people for a couple years that Eddie would be a better host if he were sedated. Today he was sedated at the eye doctor, and it went better. The mania had subsided.
Eddie had lunch with Mick Gatto... I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that but the "look and feel" for a then president of a footy club is no different to this story. Sometimes I don't think he actually knows what side of the fence he sits on, just plays it up for a media beat up.
@StanCash-xj6ie When Ed was an ambitious young sports journalist, back in the eighties, he would have hung out with all sorts chasing stories. As he said, Boxing Racing and Football in Melbourne. His son has had a far more clean-cut journey into the media.
Why does anyone believe anything that comes out of Tom Morris's mouth? He said that Petracca was leaving Melbourne. He didn't. This story came from nowhere and it sounds made up. Fact is, Tom Morris can make up complete lies without consequence because the footy media are not held to account by the gullible football public, whose jealousy and schaudenfreude means that they willingly accept the lie. Don't ever forget, Tom Morris outed a colleague, so that shows the man's integrity. Also, the fact his media buddies protected him during it makes him untouchable in his eyes.
I don't know if the AFL can tell grown men who they can be friends with. Nothing stopping Stringer or Hind meeting these guys outside the locker rooms and be corrupted by them. The AFL can't control them 24/7. Essendon were giving Stronger a one year contract before this so this thing had nothing to do with it.
They can if their friends are linked to criminal organisations which is basically why the AFL have warned the Bombers. That is precisely what happened with Jake King years ago and as someone else mentioned also Dusty Martin primarily because of his father's involvement in crime which prevented him from entering the country back in 2016.
@@taliamason7986 Unless they can indentify the underworld figures, they can't ban someone inviting a guest just because they "look" shady or "look Mafia". @markuswilmes3694 I think Eddie and his brother attended Christian Brothers College (CBC). Traditionally those schools had a reputation for high educational standards, strong discipline and providing solid pathways in life for testosterone fueled schoolboys. (I believe they kept up the caning of pupils till quite late on.) So yes, it was a private, fee-paying religious school - like many across Australia. But it wasn't Xavier, Scotch College, Wesley etc.
"Isn't going to help him..." Doesn't hurt him directly; he's got a contract for next year. Hind it hurts because this may be some or a lot of the reason his contract wasn't renewed. But who does it hurt most? Essendon. There's obvious a plan in action here to move Jake on by the club and get as much as we can in return for him, and now we've got Jake and Nick hanging out with what's clearly implied to be "underworld" figures, meaning now no one is going to want to touch him.
@nathanjones2242 I idly counted on my fingers how many seasons Stringer has played since the Doggies 2016 Premiership. Fingers say eight seasons. I don't follow him much as a player - but surely he's in the twilight of his career now? Unless he has Shauny Burgoyne type potential?
Collingwood have enough small forwards...they need a big full forward...they already have elliot, hill, Schultz, daicos, degoey that rotates in there...wouldnt trade anyone as well for stringer
If anything they should be trading for Peter Wright instead who is a tall forward or even Jake Riccardi who for some reason couldn't make the Giants line up this season.
Bigger basket case than Manchester United, Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bulls or Ferrari, not a chance. The Bombers may be a big club in the AFL along with the Magpies and Blues but they are absolute small fry compared to those 4 billionaire dollar franchises I named.

Mate, you're not paying attention if you think the pundits haven't called out Essendon and the Bulldogs for their cultural issues. It's a bigger story at Melbourne because of the ridiculous 'we've never had a better culture' comments from Perth and Goodwin at the start of the year.
Essendon have always struck me as AFL's golden child. Not surprised that the media isn't going harder on them and their culture. Melbourne are just the media's flavour of the month. Any mention of a toxic culture or "player X is headed out the door" is seen as an easy way to get clicks.
@@julesdalli9716 I actually think the Melbourne thing is a smear campaign run by the media. I noticed it started after Brayden Maynard felled Angus Brayshaw. Simon Goodwin apparently called out the media in defending Maynard and trying to get him off suspension. He further alluded that it was in the footy media's best interests in getting Maynard off, as it helps Collingwood's chances of winning the flag, which then sells more papers and helps make the media more money.
