What's kind of crazy to me listening to you guys describe the top tier players is how much you're talking about them going for versus how much they actually end up going for. In my auctions, if I want a guy like Bijan, CMC, Lamb or Tyreek you're spending at least $65-$70 for just 1 of those guys. There's just no way to get 2 and fill out a competitive roster.
Agree with this argument if you're talking about a 12-man league where there's 20% more money in play, there SHOULD be 5-7 players that are over $50 value. Thus, getting a "round 1" guy will cost you. If you go to a 10-man league only the top 3 players are estimated to go over $50. However, each site is different, as is each league. Casual/inexperienced leagues tend to be timid/cautious in the opening rounds. While more seasoned auctioneers tend to go for value, where it presents itself (however, this is where knowing who you want to draft and not draft comes into play). If you're talking mock drafts, like ESPN, then this is a completely different story. About 1/3 of the robot/auto players are in aggressive mode and pump up the player value by about 10%, especially the top end players, because that's how they get auctioned. So, naturally the Top 20-30 auctioned players get jacked up.
@@Oof-DahReviews-bf4hv just finished a mock draft for one of my leagues last weekend. CMC went for 76, Bijan was 71, Breece was 69, Tyreek was 72 and CeeDee was 70. I didn't get any of them. lol. Couldn't pull the trigger. I thought for sure I'd get 1 of them for around 55-60.
@@brandondillman5841 You must have gotten real good values in the middle ranges then. Best strategy is to pivot to over tiers and get those players you want from other tiers. Always have multiple "like" guys from each tier. This way you can feel better about your auction after, if the early guys get over spent.
@@brandondillman5841 way too much spent on 1 guy, you can get 1 A+ player and an A- for $100. I go 60 for my number 1 guy and 40 for my 2 player and then make sure I get a decent QB. Waiting til the later part of the drop for a QB is foolish unless the QBs are still out there and only. 2 teams have bought a QB then you can wait and get a top 5 guy. I try to get a top 3 QB. This strategy has got me 1, 2,2 last 3 years and if not for injuries I would have won 3 in a row.
For early nomination strategy I agree that it doesn't matter nearly as much as late when people budgets are cramped and maybe 1-3 people were too conservative early and can outbid on any player. I will say though that I like nominating the players that will cause me to really change how I do my roster construction early like a Jonathan Brooks for example or players that I have the least confidence in how my league will value. It is just a bit of extra information that I know how I plan on using if I get them and maybe whoever ends up with the player won't use properly if I don't.
My auction draft is today at 12 perfect timing i blow 170 on three studs and do the doller dandy dance at the end i got nico last year for a buck and i love the waivers also
Always do auction with my friends. It can get crazy, and they always bid insane on players you thought you may have planned to get for $20 cheaper, and everything is out the window. I can keep Rashee Rice for $6 this year out of 200, or Bijan for $60. But if I keep Rice, and then Bijan goes for $80, not sure it makes sense. May just play it safe and keep Bijan.
My league did a thing where if someone won a challenge, they get to have the first pick and get their player for $1. Should I try getting like 3 star players?
I kept Breece Hall for $27 - that leaves me with $173 to play with. Do I go and get another 2 studs at wr or do I wait and filter through the value picks that come my way.
we're in the exact same position haha keeping breece for 27. i'm hammering two studs at receiver, personally. punting RB2 and finding value at flex. godspeed.
The problem with this interview is Adam doesn't setup his questions with any context at all. What type of league? How many roster slots? 1QB or Superflex? 10-team or 14-team or how bout this one... What is the FREAKIN team cap??? I have a guy talking about spending around $190 on two studs but the typical league has a $200 cap. Makes it hard to follow... Come on man!
These are general auction tips, so they'll apply to most formats. And he said $110 on two studs, leaving $90 remaining for the rest of his value picks. Hope this helps.
Budget by position is a bad idea in general, for two main reasons: 1) Start flexibility-if it's a flex league (in which most are) and you can utilize a TE in a WR/RB spot and the value is there, then why limit yourself?...makes no sense. 2) This, in general, will allow your opponent(s) more money to spend on other players you absolutely like/love. This thought/approach, you have to be careful with and likely only use it with higher-end players you don't hate or love. If you hate this player and get stuck with the player, say at $20 versus $25, then you may just regret it, because there likely was a reason you don't want the player.
long time snake drafter that just switched to auction format. Auction is a whole different ball game. I love it
If you want a free auction or money league hit me up, I'm always adding guys
youll fall in love man, really wish it was more popular
this is the type of the auction advice I've been hoping to see for some time. Thank you, boyz.

Awesome. Learned a lot here would love to hear from this guest again!

late strategy in auctions is so crucial
Thanks to this episode, I finally attempted my first auction draft last night. I have to say... it is my new favorite format.
My auction draft is today at 12 perfect timing i blow 170 on three studs and do the doller dandy dance at the end i got nico last year for a buck and i love the waivers also

Snakes for the rooks.
Perfect timing
Dam just found your channel and subbed. Reach out next draft!
Wow thank you for doing this! That was excellent.
So say I get my 2 studs for $110 and I have 90 left. Should I be looking to only spend 15-20 on my next set of wr/te?
Thank you for this video. Very helpful

I agree -- keep the stud. You can get a Rice-type player for $6 toward the end, I bet
Auction bros appreciate yall 🤙🏻
🤙🏻thanks for the insight
First auction draft tomorrow and I’m terrified: 18 team, SF PPR, TEP, low points gets cut league.
Auction is the future. Year 5 of doing it in my home league.
High quality content
TY!

Very understated difficulty in how to land your guys when you only have $6 to your name
14 team league auction. Keeping Nico$3,ETN$31 and Kyler for $7. 200 budget what’s your thoughts, half ppr. You guys are great thanks for the content.
Sounds good I guess but really you need to give more details and context for your league. PPR? IDP? 2QB? standard? how big is the roster?
Half ppr, 1qb,1rb, 2wr, 2 flex(regular), te, def and kicker 6 bench players Thanks
Lloyd Christmas lol

Henry in a PPR no thanks not worth the funds. I rather spend it on Taylor a back that catches the ball.
