    PIT tried to make Pickens a YAC guy with a bunch of short crossing routes and screens last year, and that failed miserably.
    To Pickens defense, he knew that wasn't his strength and it was a big part of the midseason drama with him. They started using Pickens correctly down the stretch, and his production jumped big. As the guys mentioned here, the concern is the Arthur Smith offense not affording him a lot of those opportunities. At least Russ and Fields are both mobile enough to extend plays.

  • @branchtana315
    @branchtana315 Місяць тому +2

    I love MHJ, but I just can't make myself spend WR1 prices and take him around the 1-2 turn.
    If I'm drafting a top rookie WR, I'd rather pivot to Nabers. Obviously his situation is substantially worse on paper but I think he's going to get a massive target share, somewhere in the 140-150 range if he stays healthy. There's a lot more upside at his price, as he's being taken around WR25 at the 4th/5th turn.

      No they just fear aiyuk coming and taking targets, feiermuth is a horrible pass catcher they mainly just use him to block, if they got a #2 receiver onto the team he wouldn’t even get targets anymore

    • @user-fi9hk9tj8v
      @user-fi9hk9tj8v Місяць тому

      @@kylewade8704 they’ve heavily invested in the o-line in the recent two ish years. They had a young and improving o-line last season which is why I think he was asked to block more than we’d like. Smith used the most 2 TE sets in ATL, and they’re def using that with muth and darnell…with Darnell primarily blocking. Hard to imagine that one te won’t eat in PIT under smith, and Pat would be the one to do so. And with Diontae leaving, that opens up more targets for others as he was their #1 target earner last season. Would not be surprised if we see something more like year 2 of pat’s career this season (where he had 700 receiving yards…hard to believe he’s a horrible pass catcher when getting 700 rec yards as a second year te - which was 6th amongst TEs that year, and he had the 6th most receptions that year too)

Stacks can work either way, it raises your ceiling but also lowers your floor. Having a stack doesnt turn a late round TE into a better TE, Skippy. What you said was nonsense. With all due respect Pickens is the epitome of how Reception Perception is flawed in my opinion. Pickens excels in areas other than route running that are not captured by the Reception Perception process. Things like athleticism, timing, body position, and his ability to fully extend his arms, high point the ball, and catch it with his hands. These traits are all very evident when you watch him play. So, I don't think it's fair to say Player A is "better" than Pickens because he has a higher success rate on his routes.

      QBs dont like to throw a bunch of contested routes. If youre open, you get more chances. Chances = points. Is Pickens a good WR? Aboslutely. Does that mean hes a a great fantasy play? Meh, depends where he falls.

      It's not flawed, it shows exactly what it's supposed to, the guys who SUCCEED on routes, it's your job to factor in other components with that data to form your own opinion.

      Read the book “how to lie with statistics”. Reception Perception is cute but it’s basically like reading horoscopes

      @@anthonywest7423it’s not flawed? I guess I should just draft receivers based solely on these stats and I’ll never lose a league again….dawg go read the book how to lie with statistics

      @@anthonywest7423that’s not how people look at these stats. Matt Harmon is a huge dork that has cute stats. He’s not a sports bettor and I bet he doesn’t win much

    in nobody's vernacular is a generation ever supposed to be as long as a lifetime. it's technically a reproductive cycle, like 15-30 years long in terms of people and history. In sports it used to always mean a decade or so, the length of careers. Now those stretch and yet the game and crop of talent changes faster and faster shrinking a sports generation under a decade now. To be generational, be like Wemby, not like the also awesome Paolo or Chet. Mahomes and Caleb might both be generational. Allen, Lamar, etc aren't also so unless they pile up some rings too like Caleb has mere potential now to do so. The good thing for Caleb is he has no obstacle to become the best Bears QB in history his first season or two. Even if he busts. His ceiling is elite it would seem. Could be bigger and tougher, sure, but he's magic in part because he doesn't sit there and absorb hits like a stoic. Yay football.
