I agree all models should have a optional second row bench seat. Georgia is a great State. Was there this past December and Savannah is a beautiful City. Hope you both enjoyed your time in Georgia.
Glad you continue to mention lack of available 2nd row bench in Z71 and some other trims. Bulbous vehicles like these need maximum utility including benches.

I went yesterday to test drive the new Traverse with the Z 71 package cloth seats, super cruise and the panoramic sunroof. I love the truck, but there were a couple of issues. When we folded down the manual third row with the headrest would not fold in. With the third row folded flat, we could not bring the captains chairs all the way back because of the headrest. The dealer couldn’t even figure it out. On top of that when we put the rear AC on, the compressor or fan in the back right of the vehicle was so loud it was extremely annoying, especially since the car is so quiet inside without the radio on. Not sure if you get a second chance to see the vehicle, but when you get into the backseat and turn on the rear AC controls, listen to the fan and the right rear of the vehicle. Other than that, we found the traverse , very easy drive and very responsive. They definitely priced it right as well. My pic would be the Z 71 with the super cruise and the upgraded seats. Around US$52,000.

Looks to be truly competitive with other 3-row SUVs like the Palisade, Telluride, Grand Highlander, Pilot, etc. Price point is huge. They’ve done a nice job.
Nice looking! I haven't owned a Chevy in over 30 years, but this caught my eye. Squeezing that much power out of a 2.5 liter turbo screams frequently oil changes to me to keep from frying the turbo!
Look at the mechanic reviews it's a horrible setup nightmare where they put a temperature sensor that's a main sensor that should be changed and easy access but gotta tear down the whole upper engine to change one lil sensor that will be the first one to fail because it's a temperature sensor. Last two vehicles were Acadias. Having to replace- not liking the vertical screen on the new GMC. Have a rent -Palisade Calligraphy and it’s a nice ride with cool features I haven’t seen on other SUV’s at this price point. Torn between it and the Traverse.
Nice vehicle but, no passenger power seat except on RS model. Also bench seats are not available on all models. This alone makes one shop around for better options.

Thats four cup holders in use if my math is correct. So many manufactures miss this and it’s shocking. Lay flat rear seats, column shifter freeing up console space, useful and abundant cabin storage, quite cabin and smooth ride-they nailed it. Did I mention cup holders? A good example of form following function. The only big downside is GM collecting and/or selling driver data from these tech heavy vehicles.
The General did a good job on this new vehicle (update). I am very impressed… both inside and out. I’m personally not convinced about GM’s reliability, so my advice would be to stick with a Lease. Or… as I might do… RENT one for a weekend (cottaging or long distance trip). Their addressing interior sound levels impresses me. I think to get the general public to get real excited, I might suggest ‘doubling up’ on a Limited Run trim. Bring back the Typhoon or Exorcist (Camero?) trims. Go from a 2-1/2 Litre single turbo (320-ish h.p.) to a 5.0 Litre Twin Turbo. There’ll always be some yahoo who will write a cheque for more than a hundred grand for something like that… has that sorta taste (or money). Even if you paint a Fiery Giant Chicken (Phoenix?) on it’s bonnet… or rather it’s ‘hood’. Regardless, I still like it! Thanks for the video.
I believe the New GMC Acadia has a much better styled exterior and interior especially in the AT4 and Denali trims. My Money is on the GMC. The second row bench seating must be offered in all trims of both the Traverse and Acadia. The Tablet style display in the Acadia makes more sense to me. I do like the side marker lights on the Traverse over the non-existent ones on the Acadia Elevation and Denali trims. The most popular trims will be the Chevy LT and Acadia Elevation trims. Power passenger seat on all trims is a must on all trims. I can not wait to do my test drive of these two new vehicles!
Great looking vehicle, but offering only 4-cylinder engines is a disappointing sign of the times. Sure, technology has advanced, but in every one of these new 4-cyl engines I've test driven in factory standard mode, there's a significant delay from pedal to acceleration. Safety isn't just about lane warnings and air bags...it's having enough power available in a split-second to avoid trouble on the roads. Great look and features, but the engine is the heart of every vehicle.
The google based nav is nice. You don’t have to worry about android auto/carplay. I would love this with a Toyota hybrid underneath. I like the exterior on the previous model as a “family car.” The c pillar on the new one looks weird for me.
Will this 2.5 Turbo be reliable ? The Equinox engine has had issues several friends have had that 1.5L engine fail with very low miles - 1 of them only had 17000 miles on it.
The Chevy Traverse RS is beautiful inside and out, but at $58,840, $67,370 after tax and license, it's priced far to high for a midsized SUV. If it was around 40k, it would be in my driveway. 😢
That's my big interest, too. I've had several Explorers because I needed the cargo space and wanted the big horsepower. My '17 has been an excellent vehicle that I'd like to replace "just because". Another consideration is the massaging seats, which really increases the distance one can comfortably cover between pit stops. 😊
I am so excited for another 4L turbo engine! I can't wait to test drive what the car companies are forcing down my throat. Also less than 7 in of ground clearance for a SUV? I root for a car company who will keep a good V6 engine around. This is a pretty minivan for the folks not wanting to buy a minivan.
The problem with turbos is that they need to be warmed up fully before cooling down. Unfortunately, many trips are short like going to grocery store, and thus never get hot enough. This will shorten the life of the turbo(s) over time.
I've been a Chevy guy my entire life. After the 6L80E in our 2018 Silverado blew up at only 113k miles because of GM's terrible torque converter design (which cost us $6100 to have rebuilt - video on my channel about it), I swore I was done with GM. This new Traverse though...it's a looker for sure. I'm still skeptical of GM's quality control, but if these turn out to be decent I may give them a look. Too new for me to trust just yet, but time will tell the story.
Even if it's not as reliable as a Toyota Grand Highlander or a Honda Pilot, the MSRP difference, interest rate difference, and the typical dealership-level discounts that are offered by most 'domestic' brands, it would still be cheaper to repair and run this over a 7-10 year timeframe than the two Japanese offerings.
@@steveboyd3455 true that. Although, now that I think about it, if you plan on keeping your car for up to 10 years, would resale value be your top priority?
@@G-Rated absolutely. My wife used to drive a Malibu. No complaints, great vehicle. The used car market is sentimental though. It prefers/favours certain brands over the others though, so I also understand what the other commenter was opining.

You mentioned the cabin noise. I have a 2023. I really enjoy it and I have the RS. My biggest gripe though is the cabin/wind noise. Is there a noticeable difference between the two. I have been thinking about trading in for the newer model, but this is a major concern for me. Maybe it doesn’t bother others, but for me it’s a big deal. What are your thoughts?
I’ve had a ‘23 RS for over 18 months now. No issues at all yet. FTR, I have no bothersome wind noise. Perhaps you have a loose or missing seal? Or an open window?🤭😂
Happy with my 2024 Palisade Caligraphy :) Way more features for the top trim, better fuel economy even with the V6 and nicer inside/out plus top materials. Not bad this Traverse too !
I do find it odd that the RS trim traverse gives you Super Cruise standard, but the upcoming GMC Acadia, Super Cruise is only an option on the Denali trim. Feels like it should be the other way around
@@talkischeapc9 you’re missing my point. The GMC Acadia is the upscale version of the Traverse and on top trim to top trim they are almost identical in price and I think it’s weird that GMC wants to charge an extra $3500 for super cruise when Chevy gives it to you for free.
@Chevrolet you NEED to offer the bench as an OPTION on the RS/Z71. If I have 3 family members visit us in FL and I have a Z71 I can't take everyone in one vehicle. Offering just captain chairs makes zero sense.
Nice video guys, something weird on the fuel efficiency as usually 2WD vs AWD doesn’t decrease fuel efficiency that much. That’s a big difference on the highway MPG. Are those numbers accurate?? as maybe the Z71 due to off road capability is 19 city and 24 highway. I’m thinking the RS AWD should be 19 city and 26 highway
Chevy and GM are not very reliable w/new models. I’d wait a year or two to see how this new transmission and overall reliability work out. However I think it looks a lot like the Toyota Grand Highlander, and that’s a good thing

Great review
Do you think the Traverse Z71 is quieter than the Honda Pilot Trailsport at highway speeds?
Did Chevy put the audio controls on the front side of the steering wheel?
They are on the back
The problem with the turbo is that the engine wears out faster. Your better off with a natural aspirated 6 cylinder.
Good points. Resale value will affect that calculation though.
@@steveboyd3455 true that. Although, now that I think about it, if you plan on keeping your car for up to 10 years, would resale value be your top priority?
@@tanayvasavadaagain there’s nothing that suggest this vehicle will be less reliable than either of those 2 Japanese offerings.
@@G-Rated absolutely. My wife used to drive a Malibu. No complaints, great vehicle. The used car market is sentimental though. It prefers/favours certain brands over the others though, so I also understand what the other commenter was opining.
@@tanayvasavada Agreed! Just depends I guess on how long one keeps a car. My current CRV I bought new in 2009; just finished it's 15th year.
This is right one for people been wishing to have BMW x7 for family but couldn't afford it !! Here's we are today Chevy traverse RS or Z71 only . Why I said that because just look at center control of this From as screen, buttons control radio, AC, almost same BMW styles. Oh engine specs are almost same numbers
I couldn’t get out of my bmw x7 fast enough! Hated it, full of issues. I have now gone back to gm and just purchased this vehicle and I couldn’t be more thrilled with it!!
They should have a removable middle row middle seat like the Toyota sienna minivan has
That floating roof line shark fin is so unrefined... I like the GMC side profile more but Chevy front end.
Much better looking. This would’ve been a better Blazer than what they did.
No fog lights?
Happy with my 2024 Palisade Caligraphy :)
Way more features for the top trim, better fuel economy even with the V6 and nicer inside/out plus top materials.
Not bad this Traverse too !
I’m not happy about the 4clT vs a 6clT but also noticed it’s a 2.5L so at least it’s not a 2.0 like what you would find in an atlas
Had a 4 cylinder, turbo Silverado and it was really good, no problems at all for the 4 years I had it.
The longevity of the 2.5 Turbo remains to be seen. Less, isn't always better.
Damn that z71 need the bench!!!
I do find it odd that the RS trim traverse gives you Super Cruise standard, but the upcoming GMC Acadia, Super Cruise is only an option on the Denali trim. Feels like it should be the other way around
RS is the most expensive trim level. They have to have it on one of the trims standard.
@@talkischeapc9 you’re missing my point. The GMC Acadia is the upscale version of the Traverse and on top trim to top trim they are almost identical in price and I think it’s weird that GMC wants to charge an extra $3500 for super cruise when Chevy gives it to you for free.
@@DeadAir21 tbh the GMC brand used to be upscaled versions. Now they are just designed for an older generation.
Agreed. Denali is the top of the line in the GMC/Chevy lineup so should come standard with everything.
I love the Trim piece behind the C-pillar (sharkfin piece) makes it look sleeker ❤🇨🇦🇺🇲😎.
Is the turbo water cooled
What would be the best 3 row suv in your opinion? Used or new, budget 45k.
Nice review.
LOOKS GOOD
@Chevrolet you NEED to offer the bench as an OPTION on the RS/Z71. If I have 3 family members visit us in FL and I have a Z71 I can't take everyone in one vehicle. Offering just captain chairs makes zero sense.
Why are most dealers are going to turbo charged engines? Uses more fuel. Got to say Traverse RS is a very nice looking vehicle. Burn that fuel.
Wait a couple of years until they work out any issues...same for all manufacturers
You came just as days are getting warmer
Its probably just me and quite minor...but its good that they change the color of the chevy emblem ...for some reason i dont like the gold or yellow logo- feels old.
