Paralysis by over analysis. Don’t get too caught in the clouds. The answer to what is good for you is what you will make happen. Go out and get it, move forward in the same direction and dig deep through the tough times for the overall prize. There will never be the perfect job. Do what your passion is and do it well. The “business cards are weeks out” line hit me and put your mindset into perspective for me. No that’s just a stop gap excuse. You need cards to get word out get them now, don’t settle for “weeks out” also besides the legality of “mopar” in the name being a good idea to get rid of, a name doesn’t make a Company. Keep it simple. Work hard In one direction instead of digging 5 unfinished paths you just get stuck in. Times ticking. Lack of money isn’t an excuse it’s a speed bump. Go get what you want and stay focused through what you think maybe signs of bad ideas. But don’t choose something that is destined to fail because there is no market for you. Just my $.02 from many years of listening to those more successful that I was.
Yea definitely don't over think the name, at his age he just needs to worry about getting and retaining clients. Dude is a big overthinker I wish he woulda stayed as a lube tech
Good luck with the forestry business. The roughnecking job is hard work. I can tell you that in the Permian. Gas companies are looking for mechanics to work on engines and compressors. Again it’s hard work but not like roughnecking. Plus these gas companies provide the tools. The downside is. It’s really in the middle of nowhere in the desert. The closest city’s are Carlsbad Nm and Odessa Tx. I do the same work in the North east and travel there for my company a few times a year. It’s tough down there but if you can turn a wrench and you want a high paying job, that’s where I would look.
I'm with you on stepping back and letting it develop on it's time.. I've tried to boot strap a businesses on little to no money in a hurry.. and am currently building up to get something going again.. But, not going to rush it this time. get all my ducks in a row while im working and saving until i get there. Keep at it!
Happy4th of July!!! When are you going mobile mechanic? Don't put it on the back burner man you are just stalling at this point. Sounds like you don't want to work😊
I’m happy you are looking to try something new. There are a lot of industries that could use your skill set. Auto mechanics make great industrial mechanics. Thank you for your service!
Happy Independence Day Mr Justin CREDIBLE! 🇺🇲 Thank you to you and all who serve to make it possible for the rest of us to consume alcohol and act like a-holes. On a lighter note, try naming the mobile mechanic "Just Incredible Service!" It's a thought. Have an awesome Independence Day weekend. Cheers and God be with you, sincerely. 😁🍻👍
Lots of excitement at the Dow residence. Matt the mechanic is pretty big on TikTok. He is in Tulsa. Great personality. He's grown a lot since I started watching him awhile back. You're looking great JD. Glad things are starting to look up
Happy 4th. I don't know what you make on youtube. You have a decent following. You should really grind on your social media. Take some classes online in that direction. Good luck with whatever you decide.
FUK yeah! 24th ID FSGA vet here! Gettin FUKD up on my 4th July day off, here in Oregon... Got some gnarly fireworks for later. Get loaded good & proper my friend! (Seriously, get into music tracks for adult films, $50 per "song", aprox 5 minutes long. Mainly verbose noodling (finger tapping) in the key of E or A. All needed is a drum machine, guitar with Humbuckers & a distortion pedal. A cheap synth helps.)
There's a lot more into getting an LLC than just filing for a fictious business name. It requires filing legal papers -- I believe in CA it's with the Secretary of State. I also think putting LLC on a business card when you aren't an LLC can get you jammed up if you get sued. Be real careful with this.
Literally it's just filing papers with the state. If you filing separate from yourself you need a TIN but assuming you're self employed and it's only you, you could just file with your social security number. Not that much of a headache really.
Good luck to you. Expand your time frames though just to be realistic. You won't change your credit score or clear debt to a notable degree in a month. Six months maybe, probably more like a year. Not saying you have to tough out the woods for a year but if you want instant gratification you won't get it. Keep trucking along. Just ask yourself what kind of update you want to give everyone on 7/4/2025! That'll help you keep plugging away. A lot can change in a year, but not necessarily a month.
Do not do an LLC starting out it cost way to much for no reason go to your local county clerk and get a small business license its much cheaper each year then an llc with the same benefits LLC cost so much more and ( Dow Mobile Lube and Service ) i think is a decent name
I would use your buddy's shop and push that business give him a certain percentage of what you make you will like that better because I do mobile mechanic service and a lot of places is not the best spot to work on a car but I have a canopy I can set up in less than a minute it wasn't cheap but it's worth it I also have a car trailer so if someone breaks down I can haul the car instead of them paying a tow company along with other stuff to make it easier on me not just tools but it is doable here I'm not sure how things are there but you do need some 3/4 plywood for your jack and jack stands to keep them from sinking or damaging a driveway and a piece for you to lay on some tarps because you can't have oil or anything else getting on the drive way or ground at someone house jugs to store the old fluids in until you can go get rid of it as you progress you can buy more stuff like air compressor a portable hydraulic car lift it can go a long way if you build it up
I own a shop and nobody is gonna operate out of my shop due to liability issues. Also not gonna rent my name for you to make money. Basically your working for me if your in my shop
You’re going to love northern tools but the one thing about them is they are expensive. However I never I mean never broke a tool that I brought from them
Hi Justin, from the UK never had the chance to go to the US of A , when you go to this Organ? Can you show use around , food , way of living, where you will be stayung make some really cool content , daily vlogs also boost your views $
Justin, I don know how old you are, but those jobs require you to be younger when you start. They are physically debilitating. I’ve missed some of your videos so I’m not sure how you got into this position, but right now, you seem to have no idea as to what you want to do. You’re basically looking at any random job you can find. With any of them you’re going to be right at the bottom, getting the worst grunt work.
A broken marriage is all you get after working away from home. Thats the life of single men. In Australia we have heaps of mines and the only people that stay on longer than 2 years are single or divorced. Get the mobile business running. Get paid proper money for your labour not taking a cut of what the shop charges. Work as much or as little as you need to live, its your choice. Desert automotive, brakes and suspension service.
I calling it he’ll be back and done with forestry work within 3 weeks. You don’t have what it takes to work in the oil fields. I really doubt the same when it comes to the fishing industry.
Him and his wife already seem to be on shaky ground.. This is gonna make things worse on multiple levels. Dude should've stayed at big o tires or whatever
Isn't the largest Marine base in the world right down the road from you? (29 Palms). Is that where you were in the running for a security job and your neck tattoo knocked you out? Go get it removed. I heard people can do laser removal now and it would probably be good enough to remove that disqualification. A base that big must have a huge civilian work force supporting it. If you got in with any job, even janitorial or food service, I'd bet you could move into other decent jobs. Especially if you could get a Federal govt job there. Is there any possibility of getting anything at all on that base? Get into a decent job there and you'd have job security for the rest of your life. I would think as a US Military veteran, you'd have bidding advantages. And your Army time would count toward a Federal pension benefit. I'd find a tattoo removal service and pay whatever it took to remove it and become a regular applying for ANY job at that base.
Honestly, I wouldn't worry about using the name mopar at all. The odds of stellanis giving 2 craps about you are almost zero. The worse that would happen is they'd send you a cease and decease letter, at which point you can change your company name. Just googling near me, and there's a bunch of businesses near me not affiliated with stellantis using the mopar name.
You got a family you’ll hate oilfield work gone all the time they tell you days off to set you there and never happens work months straight great money just be ready to not see your family
Sometimes I wonder if you self sabotage something as you don't want to it. The Mopar is absolutely a copyright name and you had to have known that. The state registration won't flag or care. You can create literally anything else with an LLC.
Bro, No party shirt? JD Mobile mechanic... thinking too much in the name... get couple customers and get the word out.... advertise old school papeor flyers One month in Oregon? Well wait isnt that taking you away from family? Your daughter? Good luck dude.
My brother seems pretty confident that I can make some good money in a short amount of time. We’re talking about 1-3months maybe through the fall. Take winter off and if I want start back up in the spring. I can still be home for the majority of the holidays. It might not be close to home, but it’s almost been a year without work and I gotta do something now. Can’t afford to wait around and pray for something closer. Believe me if I could make it work here I’d stay.
Turning wrenches is hard on your body really bad for your back and neck ask me how I know and every mechanic I know is broke down around 50 years old your body is done.
Best of luck, I think you will be much further ahead money wise outside of the mechanic world.
