I don't usually comment, but at 27:49, Moog shows he's a man of integrity with the instant and honest comment "you don't wanna do that" when referring to scamming a scammer. In every taxi,on the right of the $ on the metre is a number - usually 1. That is the rate. Rate 1 is between 6am&10pm. Rate 3 is between 10pm&6am. Maxi taxis should use the same rates except for 5 or more passengers. They should be rate 3 6am-10pm. Rate 5 10pm-6am. Hope it makes sense. (I used to drive taxis in Kempsey)

That fare scam has been going on forever across the globe. Back in the day New York City cab drivers would drive you around the island to bump up the fare if they thought you were out of town. We would avoid that by asking them to take certain roads. Sometimes we would take "gypsy" cabs, but only if they quoted us a good flat rate up front. In Bangkok, the drivers would quote you a flat rate, but when I took the same route with my Thai friend, the rate was about halved. Of course, with the crazy exchange rate it really didn't make a dent in my wallet. I've never experienced that in Los Angeles, but I've also very rarely taken a taxi here.

Another thing to watch out for in taxis in Australia is that they'll add a random few dollars onto the mobile payment terminal when they type it in, and also overcharge on short trips by hitting every button. If you are overcharged, make sure you get the taxi number and company details, you can claim back an overcharged amount above the standard fare.
Literally same thing happened on the trip we spoke about.. random tolls they don’t put on the receipt

On the taxi scam topic, that stuff has been going on for a long time. I lived with a guy who for a few months had to use a taxi to get home for work while he didn't have a car and even though it was the same trip every day, the price would be completely different depending on who picked him up each day.
Definitely part of the 48 here!

I'm from UK have flown kites upto 20m kitesurfing. Will hand myself in immediately.
The law about the kites is kept on the books for airfields among other things. If buying a kite from a stall at an airshow, they need to have a sign up saying not to fly them at the airfield. The law you referenced is the one they enact if you get caught. I've also heard it over the tannoy system, asking not to fly them (in the past). Now it's drones that get asked not to fly at the airfield. That's a separate law. All the best. :)

@@foamdataservices They need to be certified classic cars, because in many countries they have some benefits in terms of roads taxes and insurance. If buying 5 beaters don't know if it's that affordable just in road taxes and insurance.

Hey Ibrahim, I have the same exact TSX Sportwagon! Mine is only 80k miles. Would love to know if you will be documenting your build on YT or IG? If you wish to get rid of ugly roof rails you can modify the drip rails from an Odyssey to fill the trough. I also got the rear sway from Progress Technology ( currently on sale). I'm debating a V6 swap too or maybe the TLX/RDX turbo four. I'm pretty sure the manual from the Accord has LSD but I would recommend it to have one. As I went all JDM on head and taillampsl I have spare set if you need them cheap.

The Taxi segment was some really valuable travel advice :D and yeah, whichever country you're in, those guys will try to squeeze everything out of passengers, especially when they think they are hapless tourists :D

There are many strange laws left in our law books. I read a book a decades ago of some of the crazy ones still ones still listed, but certainly wouldn't be acted upon - one law was kinda (its been a while) you could shoot a welshman in the streets of london around midnight, if you used a bow and arrow, on a Sunday. Hackney Carriages (form of london taxi) used to be legally obliged to carry hay in the boot of their diesel black cabs - a tie over from the horse drawn carriage days. You'd think clearing out the old laws would be the 1st year legal students work experience task. I guess it costs too much for a commitee to go through them - best wait for somone to use it/be charged of it - then it can be charged to either party of that case for removal.

BMW was thinking a few years ago about having a service that would modernise your old bmw to be a bit more green instead of just getting a new car.
the interesting thing about BMW is that their parts are available for nearly 50 years of their cars and their drivers love keeping their old cars on the road so having a service to restore them might not be too left field for a bmw dealer.

I still think you should personally have a clio 182 cup or a clio 200. Its undeniable how sorted the chassis is and the mods are relatable to your audience. Itd provide content and then the 200s can also be k swapped so you could easily get more content that way.
They are truly excellent cars and not just for the money either. That said, nice examples are getting pricier and the trophy cup models have been more expensive for a while.
I've got a little 1.6 16v from 2002 and while I've thought about doing some bits and pieces to it (you can get these to a comfortable 140bhp just from a few simple bolt ons and an ECU flash) I'd really love to stick a VAG 20 Valver in there, that'd be a hoot!
I enjoy my 182 cup for the high revs and light weight. No back seats makes it practical too. They do need big jobs like dephaser and gearboxes but compared to a Subaru it's pretty low isn't it. I've not seen a VAG swap in them that hasn't been a handful! Good luck with that boss 👌

Can confirm it's illegal to fly a kite in England, I tried when I was 7 years old and the police pepper sprayed me.
I got scammed by that maxi cab one. I did t know that was a thing but was $50 to go from the airport in Sydney to a car park in Mascot.
That maxi taxi scam has been around a while. I used to warn people when I lived down the Gold Coast after getting scammed myself in or around 2004/06.

In case it hasn't yet come to your attention, Best Car in Japan has reaffirmed the high likelihood the 2025 BRZ/GR86 twins are likely to be powered by the 1.6T Yaris motor, possibly with an electric motor as well. New mention in an article earlier this week (17/6) says estimate would be around 220kW, still rear drive heaven! Sign me up!

As new emmision rules come in around the world, people are trying to hang on to their old cars. In Europe there has been a burst of companies popping up supplying gear for older cars to circumvent the new emmsion standards, maybe a bit of that is comming down under?

Cara that run on compressed natural gas have the tanks replenished at up to 3600 psi and the tanks are tested at 5800 psi, in which is 1980s technology. 40 years later, hydrogen tanks at 10000psi should be on the safer side of the equation, I guess…

Hydrogen full cell cars have a pressure release valve that usually shoots straight up. They don't go kablamo, they go pffffffff.
