Nice to see Al again! Thought you guys might have given Woody a plug. Can’t be easy riding that Skidfactory horse without the godlike presence and knowledge of Al.
Don’t disagree. However, Woody is still doing really well on his own. He is making the channel his own and growing himself. Al is an MCM OG and deserves all the time and conversation. Check out the pod cast with him if you haven’t seen it from a few months ago.
Al is a big part of how my friends and I modify cars. There have been many times working on cars or fabricating something that I have remembered something Al has taught us and helped me out tremendously. Thanks for sharing so much boys it’s amazing how it helps people like me all over the world ❤ I really hope Al posts some videos later when he is feeling it even if it’s just hacks and tips to learn more from the legend
I'm Al's age and I had stopped doing cars when I had kids. Watching Al in his shed back when Marty brought his MX-5 to when he "retired" was always fun watching him drop his been-there-done-that knowledge on us. The last few years I'm back in the shed and doing engine swaps, not because it's easy but because it's mine, and it's really fun solving the problems that always come up.
Al, don't sell yourself short mate. There's a reason why your build threads were absolutely massive back in the forum days. The Skid Factory would have become popular off it's own merits without a doubt. That MCM boost helped, but you only got that boost because the MCM guys had a heap of respect for you because of the builds and knowledge you shared on the forums. Before UA-cam was a thing, before subscribing to a channel existed, there were a bunch of links I had bookmarked, it was the O.G. subscribe button. I wish I still had those links, from memory there were sites like MotoIQ, AutoSpeed and build threads in places like corner carvers and performance forums. One of my most memorable threads was an engine conversion on a Liberty, that was an epic thread. Good memories.
I always enjoyed watching Al, he is a super wise man. Its impossible not to like him. The thing that mekes him different to other people on youtube is that he is a super down to earth good fella.
As an American , I primarily watch Australian car shows, mighty car mods and skid factory, Al has thought me sooo much on turboes, amazing ability to explain things in layman’s terms. Thank you Marty and moog for bringing him to the world, and as an American who loves big Disel pickup trucks and big block cars, yall have made me love nuggets also!
Al is such a smart guy, he really has such wealth of knowledge. The ev vs petrol discussion was so even sided and succinct. I'm glad he's enjoying himself post TSF. Long may we be blessed with the wisdom of turbo yoda
Thanks for having Al on, I miss the grumpy joy he brings to everything he does. Buying a lifetime licence including updates for a program only to have it turned into subscription service is a valid reason for piracy of that program.
I love all of Al's content, he's got so much knowledge and is such a good teacher. And he's always talk about doing things properly, and doing things better than you did it before.
Couple of things. 1. Being from the USA and stumbling onto MCM many years ago, I have always viewed Australia as the most "USA" like country outside of the USA when it comes to cars. The Australians get it, big power, crazy skids and just the enjoyment of it all. I have never traveled to Australia, but I will say, To all you Australians out there I see you all as Brothers from Different Mothers haha Love You All and We have your back, and I know you have ours. That's all I have to say about that. 2. Al is a LEGEND. The knowledge and just Talent that this Man possesses, He is definitely the "Turbo Yoda". I know MCM is feeling so blessed to have crossed paths with him. 3. Nissan doesn't get much love here in the USA. The new Z basically just sits on dealer lots and no one buys them. It doesn't help the buy in cost is freaking crazy for what it is. I think for the money? I would go Golf R. But thats just me 😎👍
Thank you Al, for being such a wonderful representation of deep thinkers on youtube/social media in an era when everyone is ultra surface level and general anti-expertise. His willingness to delve deep and explain process are something I've felt are deeply needed to the upcoming generations that won't ever have the non-internet experience in life.
Mighty Car Mods and The Skid Factory have given me the support to start working on cars and how much fun and satisfaction you can get from working on your own cars and helping your mates. On the other side, yes… started my own channel and the influence is doing what you love and teaching others that it all isn’t that hard as long as you’re willing to try, make mistakes and get your mates involved.
Al I’ve watched you since the beginning and I knew that you would be someone I’d love to follow, you’ve built so many great vehicles and have shared your knowledge and wisdom along the way, thank you for being such a great bloke and imparting your wisdom on us. 😄
Great to see you Al! Hope you're enjoying your new spanner turning jobs. Really good to see the guys giving you some appreciation, your content over the years has been brilliant. All the best mate :)
All I can say is Mighty Car Mods please do not ever quit youtube. Some of the best times ive had was watching and learning things about cars and D.I.Y from you awesome dudes. I am looking forward to seeing much more from Mighty Car Mods!
The EV/microwave comparison meme is spot on. The EV is still a motorized vehicle but powered by a different source. Moog is saying walking -> horse -> car -> EV when it should be walking -> horse -> car/EV -> nitrogen powered jet pack or something crazy and different. BTW love Al!
Al was my favorite. No bs, on the nose jokes, Baging out the industry constantly. Perfect. ONly wish the best. He was right. I bought a holden vs ute to remember my first ute. Its a pile and hopefully will have some decent HP in the coming years.
You look happy, Al. Glad to see you again. Marty, you’re a legend for holding down the fort while Moog was away. Blair, just wanted you to know, having watched years worth of T.G, you are CARRYING the show. Your cohosts (as nice as they seem to be) just arent landing with us. Chuffed that you got the chance to shine, & that you have a best friend that has your back.
@PX125E I get that. Al was always the wise one and Woody played the silly kid. It was a great duo. Now Woody is pushing to get work done and make it happen. He can just be himself and doesnt have go play the young dumb one.
Picture me, excited to see if my fank was fank of the week. Visiting Australia next year. Meeting Marty and Moog being a dream which could become a possibility. Being able to drive a car that they’ve created and tell them how awesome it is. Thanking them for getting me into cars and loving their content for years. Thinking that this dream could become real. Just for it to be a fank that Marty had done. You got me good guys 😭❤
SRs are SICK if you swap the VE head onto them, and fit up a tuned length 4-1 manifold. Then they sound like a BDA, but they make like 500 reliable horsepower all day long.
I can just imagine sea/air logistics and travel going electric.... NOT! Fossil fuel will be here long after we are gone. That's what I recon. Nice to see you again Turbo Yoda Alan.
all you boys have given me inspo to keep going on my project car. (one in my profile pic) bought it as a bare shell, 3 years on its registered and on the road 😄
Turbo Yoda Rules!!! ECU's via subscription is an interesting one, KTM went down the path recently where you had to pay for unlocking all the bells and whistles on their 790/890 ADV bikes BUT in a similar situation recent legal cases have allowed farmers the right to service their equipment - consumers can vote with their $$$ Thanks for another epic episode gents...
On the topic of subscriptions- I hate them too and resist them at all costs. We have a single subscription rule in our house for streaming. You can move between them but never more than one at a time. When it comes to software I’d rather go without than pay a subscription.
Nothing like a bit of Al to brighten my day! Now what possible reason could Turbo Yoda have for visiting, I wonder? I've not heard talks of any new Star Wars stuff with Yoda in it, so it's probably the other thing... So about that Supra, he didn't say which generation you had to build. So I reckon a mk3 (JZA70) could be really fun, and it technically gets you out of having to use a 2J as well :D

I am studying to be a computer engineer, and car companies are already locking specific options after certain parts of the ecu have been tampered with (mostly software tampering). The only company I have heard of so far trying to implement this is BMW but if one brand is already trying then other brands will be trying to do the same thing. PS. Please don't buy a mk4 supra. Unless it has a weird swap. Overbuilt

Yeah, weird to not give Woody a quick shout for holding on the fort!
Woodys doing good he’s got al on his phone if he needs anything and all als contacts
Woody is doing well, hard to do it all with one fella.
Don’t disagree. However, Woody is still doing really well on his own. He is making the channel his own and growing himself. Al is an MCM OG and deserves all the time and conversation. Check out the pod cast with him if you haven’t seen it from a few months ago.

I’d hedge my bets that Al’s in town to assist with a turbo fitting a certain type of star sign. Ironic date lineage, too!
I, too, predict a Ford Taurus build.

Buying a lifetime licence including updates for a program only to have it turned into subscription service is a valid reason for piracy of that program.
Grumpy joy! Love it!! Best description of Al I've ed ever heard,
Love Al. Such a genuine sweet humble guy, the biggest reason the skid factory was successful is because he's so genuine
I love all of Al's content, he's got so much knowledge and is such a good teacher. And he's always talk about doing things properly, and doing things better than you did it before.

....so where is his cape? 😀 Thanks for being interviewed Al!! Would love to see you and The Hoff together.
Be great seeing Alan on Sloppy Mechanics podcast again
Al is single handedly the reason I'm no longer scared of efi. Sounds stupid, but it's true. Thanks for teaching me so much Al
Great to see you Al! Hope you're enjoying your new spanner turning jobs. Really good to see the guys giving you some appreciation, your content over the years has been brilliant. All the best mate :)
Dad and I regularly sat down together to learn from Al's explanations on the Skid Factory, thanks for doing what you do.
Al is amazing. He is a treasure to the car community for sure
I love AL.... Turbo Yoda will always be one of my favorite personalities on UA-cam... Ever.... Marty and Moog are right there with him too ❤
