Edward couldn’t even kiss her without being scared he’d lose control and eat her, so a honeymoon while Bella is human is basically assumed to be a death sentence - that’s why Jacob freaked out at the wedding (and because he’s dramatic). Basically no one has really ever heard of a vampire being careful enough to be with a human without killing them, so that’s also why the idea of a human being pregnant with a vampire’s child is essentially unheard of.

Well it had never been done before that they were aware. In the book they even say a vampire would never have been delicate enough to sleep with a human. They had no idea a human could get pregnant by a vampire. It was a brand new thing for the Cullens as well!
I think to their knowledge they didn't even know vampires could do that (hence the yahoo search montage) because they were sure EVERY part of them was dead- the sperm too lmao
