Mich people who "need to be high" to do anything, are losers. if you cant enjoy something without drugs, its probably the drugs that you like, and the subject that you dont
I think Primus is just one of those badass bands that many missed out on because no one can really cover them. The bass and and the voice is just one of a kind. I myself didn't hear about them until early 2000's.
I've had this song stuck in my head for weeks now because of those triplets. Makes me really regret not playing bass anymore. Good to see I was right about how to play this, you did a damn good job
Story behind this song: Les Claypool wanted all bass-players of the world to play the 32nd-notes as best as possible, so he wrote "the toys go winding down". That's it ps: my source?! -> and old and wise man with a long white beard..
I think I'm way out of my league. I just bought an epiphone t bird (I know the basics of bass but not experienced) and love this song. It's looks simple but not simple at the same time. I am a very dedicated person so maybe as a first full song this could be quite rewarding to learn.
pretty much everyone out of their league when it comes to Primus bass playing.love the song also. the fingering for the most part is not too complex. the main verse rather simple and later same just octave down. Maybe practice the song first with less picking. hit each note only once instead of each note with a super-fast-triplet to get the musical part down. practise the triplets seperately, then try to combine
By far my favorite primus bass line purely because every time I listened to it I just imagined rocking out with the 3 finger triplets bc I recently unlocked that as part of my vocabulary. This tab is everything I hoped it would be thank you
Michael Roche les claypool: when he doesnt writes an insanely fast slap line he make you end up with fuckin parkinson. i think that les AND this guy from the Channel are the only persons un the world that can play this without losing a finger
Atucha Gaming xLaboratorio de Juegosx Oh come on, it's really not *that* hard once you're comfortable with the 3-finger technique. Granted it ain't easy, either, buuut... Now, playing something like Tommy the Cat WHILE singing, THAT would be fucking impossible for anyone but Les claypool I would imagine.
First song I'm learning on bass, thanks for the upload. Got everything down till around 2:40.... jesus christ, primus was an ambitious choice for first song. time to retreat in to my appropriate league hahaha
This is a great finger exercise I do to test overall finger endurance, because doing triplets for 4 minutes straight is fucking tough so a good way to practise is try to test how long you can last until you can finally last the whole song
I just noticed that you manage to keep your pinky tucked in. I believe that's the key to get through this song by hand. The only challenge is that i have to relearn some hand mechanics and build it up. I just hope it doesn't take years.
wow ;this blew me away. i always thought that was an effect. no shit. thats some great technique btw as always. your videos are great. hopefully your in a band.
I showed this to my brother earlier. At first he’s was like, “It doesn’t seem too hard, kinda sounds like it’s a song for ki-“ and then the triplets came in. He already knows how hard Primus songs are, but it still surprised him.
I served myself a 3 in 1 shot glass alchie...5min later alchieis still filled to the brim but damn did ijust have a fucking badass ass time to this song
I just learned how to do the three finger technique not too long ago and I’ve gotten very good and pretty consistent with implementing into quick parts but this song should be a good challenge to make it as consistent as possible
hey so I know I'm a bit tardy but do you think an acoustic electric could help get the tone in the song? acoustics are naturally higher pitched but especially like at 3:09 acoustics are great at fret buzz lol. just asking your opinion because I'm performing this soon and own both. wanted a more professional opinion.
I've just discovered this channel and have to say it's incredible. I've seen your cover of YYZ by RUSH and would love for you to do The Analogue Kid as I can't seem to find an accurate tab anywhere
as a beginner i am pinning back loose fingers lol..now i have to undo what i just made my self do. lol..i know i do not have to..if i want to play this and learn i have to!!
Wooh buddy, first time trying the three finger technique and within 20 minutes of playing I already have a blister on my ring finger. It doesn't help me any that my finger picking is complete garbage.
you should do a rating system before every video like to say how difficult the song is in your opinion. also how hard do u think this song was on a scale from 1 to 10.
KRISPY KREMES GUITAR CHANNEL it looks like a solid 7 to me. The notes are simple to hit, but occasionally flying up and down the fretboard and of course the fucking 32nd notes make it look like a nightmare. The 3 finger technique is needed, which looks weird, but is manageable. No matter the score, I fucking love Les
HENNEPIN CRAWLER PLEASE, IVE ALWAYS WANTED TO SEE IT PLAYED, it's in the album green Naugahyde it's one of my favorites, you're amazing keep it up but pls bring in the hennepin crawler

Parts really not too difficult just really tiring lol
I know, I can play this just fine. Just saying in general what he does not specific to this song.

@@johndennison2769 JUST really tiring. Yeah darn aong its soo easy to pull off if only it wasn't so tiring.

This song is actually pretty easy by Primus standards
One of the easiest Primus songs requires you to learn 3 finger, that's how you know this shit hurts

@@nepstruesom5100 nah, you're not special :)

Man playing Primus REALLY helps your finger game while hitting the sheets.. My woman is so glad I realized how great Primus sucks!
"My woman is so glad I realized how great Primus sucks!" lolol
Mike Harkins you're a legend
Actually, I find the two skills unrelated.
They are. It's a joke that got old ages ago..
Agreed. Vaginas and basses are both played differently.
I love the smooth way in which the fingers stroke the bass.... I'm so high, I love primus.
You don't have to be high to appreciate the wacky awesomeness that is Primus
Andrew Pappas
You don't, but it helps.
Mich people who "need to be high" to do anything, are losers. if you cant enjoy something without drugs, its probably the drugs that you like, and the subject that you dont
Mich eerily close to my train of thought while watching this, hahaha
JJWP 88 lmao, high does not always mean high on drugs
Les has perfected how to make a bass sound like someone’s gargling water. 😂
Noooooo now I can’t un hear it lol
The world is a much better place because of you and your videos.
That bass line is sick. I love it.
I think Primus is just one of those badass bands that many missed out on because no one can really cover them. The bass and and the voice is just one of a kind. I myself didn't hear about them until early 2000's.
Oh my god... I was like 'This is going to be really easy!'
And then the intro ended.
Christian Crowle its just triplets
It's an easy song
Álvaro Bass right it's easy. It's amazing that Les sings while playing this, incredible.
its quite easy for a primus song...
The notes of the song itself are relatively simple but technique is hard this song really tries by fingers out when I play it especially the main riff
I've had this song stuck in my head for weeks now because of those triplets. Makes me really regret not playing bass anymore. Good to see I was right about how to play this, you did a damn good job

First primus song I ever learned
Loving your covers man. Lots of work in that. Are you using 2 or 3 fingers for strumming hand? Maybe both depeinding on a song? THanks.
late response but he’s definitely using 3 fingers. les claypool said he taught himself to play with 3 fingers instead of 2 so he could play faster
