Having been there, what keeps you hooked is your ego. You cannot believe that you got played and refuse to accept it. You want to prove to yourself that you were right, but the game is with yourself! In order to move on, you have to accept that you overlooked the red flags, that you were feeling lonely and therefore vulnerable. And then forgive yourself, learn the lessons, take the hard lumps and emerge stronger and braver. Then you won't allow yourself to be deceived again. But I have seen women wait years to prove something to themselves, and got lost in the game.
