With the latest firmware update the Xtreme is using 30watts of power but it still sucks because it doesn't keep the punch up to max volume and its just a bit louder than the Charge 3 ... :(
Charge 3 has more definition in the midfield, extreme has highs and lows, but there is a lack of body in the midfield, I would prefer a more balanced box with a fuller midfield.

Field tested both, indoors charge is sufficient, really you don't need something better , but outdoors extreme is waaaay louder, fuller sound even on battery, larger drivers move more air, basic physics. If you're planning on using your speaker outside, buy extreme2, miles better than charge.
Charge3 is about the same volume because xtreme 2 is there without Firmware Update and now the xtreme 2 will blow the charge3 away because it is much louder now I heard the difference in real life

Nice comparison. There's nothing X-treme about the X-treme 2 except the depth of the bass. I would rather purchase 2 Charge 3's costing $99 and have excellent stereo separation for $200 than to pay $300 for a small amount of deeper bass from the X-treme 2. I believe Jbl reduced the X-treme 2's volume while playing on battery because if it played at the same volume as it did while it was plugged in, then of course that would drastically reduce it's playing time from 15 hours to roughly around 7 or 8 hours or possibly less. In my opinion this bluetooth speaker is disgracefully a huge disappointment and definitely an X-treme failure. Jbl should be ashamed for charging customers $300 for this. At this price point the Aiwa Exos 9 will easily put this speaker to shame...

no stink. i wouldnt recommend using a bass boost app. it will brake. only the charge 3 has it. i own boombox tho and want to buy xtreme 2 my charge 3 has died

Charge 3 has a lack of treble that makes it feel like it's missing something. The flip 4 sounds fuller and more natural. Lol, the Xtreme 2 sounds just a little better for double the price. Just get the first Xtreme instead if you're looking for a big and loud speaker. If the compact-factor matters to you, then go with the Charge 3. The Xtreme 1 is better than the Charge, but you won't notice the difference that much. From a happy owner of a Charge 3.

Bro it really depends on what ur using it for if ur looking for a speaker to use outdoors i recommend the boombox tbh I own the boombox 2 and its loud enough for outdoor u could even get a noise complaint but it depends if ur willing to spend the money on it i also own a extreme 2 I've had it for about a year now and it's still going strong

u can definitely hear those tweeters on the xtreme 2 but as far as the actual volume both speakers produce I cant really hear a difference through this video I mean obviously the xtreme 2 gets much louder just wish someone could property portray that over a single video

Definitely the JBL extreme 2 take the cake as far as sound quality and bass. The xb60 it is louder but it's only fake frequency or upper bass with just only mids and nothing else.

Yup, the charge 3 can be linked with the newer speakers that have JBL connect plus as long as you have it upgraded to the most recent firmware but watch out, once you upgrade it, there is no return.
The bass is not as good on the JBL Charge 3 but it's louder but has no tweeters so the Xtreme 2 sounds better but I prefer to charge 3 overall because it's louder.

If you normally hear sound at a very reasonable height where the jbl charge 3 normally reaches, it does not make sense for a larger box ... advantages of jbl charge 3: portability, great bass, more balanced sound, reaches a very reasonable height, and the cost benefit. advantages of jbl xtreme: plays louder, more bass ... and that's it.

Charger 3 has a great powerful sound. I exchanged it with the extreme 2 and there is a BIG difference in the medium and in the bass. It's not really about how powerful it is, it's about the the clarity and the quality of the sound. On that battle the extreme 2 beat the charger 3 easily. You never talk about the possibility of using equalizers (the one from poweramp for example) and bass boosters applications. It's really a pity as you can really boost and adapt the sound the way you like. That's why people cannot always rely on reviews when buy buying a speaker.
Yessssss. A good media player can make a big difference. I use bot Poweramp and jet audio+ . Unfortunately people do not take full advantage of their sparkers. I have a Samsung he -430 sound bar and with the jet audio+ player sounds 80% better. Much of the good sound quality comes from the a good software not the speaker itself.
i bought the charge 3 as the boombox and ..... all jbls upper than the flip 4. they are made juste to shake passive radiators not create good sound quality.

Guys, The JBL Xtreme 2 is much louder but its hard to hear, cuz thats the same as the Xtreme 1! On that speaker you can also not hear much differents on the charge 3 and Xtreme 1 (2)

You should check out the Teufel Boomster NG, Vifa and B&O speakers, they crush those well known brands like JBL, Bose, Sony etc.

You can pair all of them together (charge 3 needs the upgrade to the connect plus)

I like the portable charge 3 and I'm confused why extreme 2 has less battery life charge lives to 20 hours and extreme2 lives 15 hours

The bass is not as good on the JBL Charge 3 but it's louder but has no tweeters so the Xtreme 2 sounds better but I prefer to charge 3 overall because it's louder.

If you normally hear sound at a very reasonable height where the jbl charge 3 normally reaches, it does not make sense for a larger box ... advantages of jbl charge 3: portability, great bass, more balanced sound, reaches a very reasonable height, and the cost benefit. advantages of jbl xtreme: plays louder, more bass ... and that's it.

I'm more of a treble type person because how much bass can you get out of a little speaker anyways? Lol I mean for being small it really kicks ass but in general. I have the charge 3 I like it but since I listen to a lot of talk shows I kind of wish I would have got the other brand with two 360 sound.. JBL looks better imo
Remember nowadays with charge 4 and charge 5 same with the flip 5 and flip 6 they need to go back to stereo sound they made mono i prefer stereo sound for music
defing the law of phisics the little charge 3 goes lower in frequency aka more bass . the etreme 2 has a more balanced and clearer sound..... But but my esperience told me if you play the charge different hours it becomes more clearer overtime than it was brandnew

Charger 3 has a great powerful sound. I exchanged it with the extreme 2 and there is a BIG difference in the medium and in the bass. It's not really about how powerful it is, it's about the the clarity and the quality of the sound. On that battle the extreme 2 beat the charger 3 easily. You never talk about the possibility of using equalizers (the one from poweramp for example) and bass boosters applications. It's really a pity as you can really boost and adapt the sound the way you like. That's why people cannot always rely on reviews when buy buying a speaker.
Yessssss. A good media player can make a big difference. I use bot Poweramp and jet audio+ . Unfortunately people do not take full advantage of their sparkers. I have a Samsung he -430 sound bar and with the jet audio+ player sounds 80% better. Much of the good sound quality comes from the a good software not the speaker itself.
i bought the charge 3 as the boombox and ..... all jbls upper than the flip 4. they are made juste to shake passive radiators not create good sound quality.

Onyx sounds better than the extreme 2. Louder and more bass. But it’s not really portable.
I had a charge 3 but I bought a xtreme 2 and gave my charge 3 to my cousin now I have to buy another charge 3 and try to return my xtreme 2 it’s sound almost the hardly any difference

The JBL Xtreme 2 is much louder but its hard to hear, cuz thats the same as the Xtreme 1! On that speaker you can also not hear much differents on the charge 3 and Xtreme 1 (2)

I don't know what the extreme 2 is but it is as loud as the charge 3 yes it has better bass

xWarrior he would say the same thing because the JBL pulse 3 is as loud is the JBL Charge 3 and it has the same sound trouble bass and all no difference
Tyler gaming There is a lot of difference. Pulse 3 has overall better sound and is a 360deg speaker, so in the room it is louder, than the charge 3
xWarrior newer speakers don't impress me at all I make my own way better sounds any speaker I had that's just my opinion I make my own usually
