    Listener Question:
"I’ve run 7 marathons trying to qualify for Boston. In my races as I start to lose speed around 21 miles I see people I was well ahead of pass me with seem lying fresh legs. I could see that through out the race they used the run-walk technique. What is your opinion of this technique as a strategy to get a faster time? Have you or any of the runners you trained used the run-walk technique? Thanks for your time". -Chris in Lexington Kentucky

I started using run/walk a few years ago after always getting injured during training and ran a PR last spring and it was a testing run for an upcoming ultra so I actually had no goals in mind. I also pass many people at the last 6 miles in marathons now since using run/walk and have not had the injuries I once had. Give it a try Chris! 🙌🏼 🏃🏻‍♀️

Nice video. If it wasn't for run walk, I would never have finished the London marathon. I've been a runner for over twenty years, I had given up hope of doing the London after a really bad experience at the Rotterdam marathon. Not only that, but also older, heavier etc.
But, I managed it. Jogging three minutes, walking two. Took me almost seven hours, but I don't care. I was doing the best I could, and crossing that line was an emotional moment

Coach Lynn trained me a 20 minute PB at London Marathon in 2019 using run-walk! I finished strong. She’s the real deal when it comes to doing a full marathon with run-walk. (BTW, all the other MTA coaches are awesome too).

After a bout with plantar faciitis, I am a big fan of run/ walk. More specifically, smaller intervals like 1:1 or 2:1.

It depends on the inflammatory foods you eat. If you quit them it will disappear.

Quite funny, just 2 days ago I tried this method without knowing it was an actual thing. Ran 4 minutes, then did a 45 sec interval, then walked a couple of seconds after each interval on the treadmill. Made me keep my goal time of 6 min/km. Makes it easier to know that you can actually walk during the marathon and still beat your time.

Only if your time is very slow in that case you should have registered for the half.

@@dimitar297 4.10. 2 weeks ago. Very happy with that. Unreal bad luck with injuries. A miracle. A new race in 10 days. Will be too hot for me, so I might hit the wall very early .-)

Certainly got me back in action after I injured my calf muscle. I set my watch to beep every km, and after a particular target time. eg 1km & 6 minutes. If I run the km in 5:30 I get a 30 second walk. If I run it if 5:10 I get at 50 second walk. So it sort of self corrects.

Do you do run/walk/run for every run or just your long runs?
