worlds is always so funny. with the banlist being mashed decks that on both sides are good but never did something so outrageous that they garnered hits just go to the moon, or in other words the more mid deck is the better it is in worlds

Yup. You play one of each of the good trap holes other than that it feels like a mid range combo deck that sets up decent interruptions. I think it’s underrated but not similar to lab.

I do want to add fluffals beat labrynth the MD event was full power lab with nerfed(FBoG at 1) fluffals and fluffals just played thrpigh lab to otk it was really funny. Although i doubt fluffals can beat most other decks like exosisters.
It really sucks that the world championship, the supposed pinnacle of YGO, is played with an entirely different banlist and is basically a mutilated format to what players had when qualifying. Master Duel is even worse since you don't even play the same game type (you qualify solo and play as a team; it would be cool if the team event was there IN ADDITION to the 1v1 tournament). An athletics analogy to this situation - imagine qualifying for the WC in the 200m sprint race and then the organizer is like "No, buddy, you will compete in the 1500m race instead."
I think we'll see Heroes show up at worlds but I am betting on Jess, I think Jess has this. I think it's Rikka's time to shine. OCG players mostly don't have experience against Rikka and likely aren't planning for it. American players also have next to no experience going up against Rikka. Rikka is really an EU special and I think thanks to that Jess is in the position to have the most knowledge of her own deck and the least knowledge about her deck in the competition. Jess has good experience piloting Rikka against Lab which also really helps.

Handling misplays (especially due to fatique and stress) is what differentiates the "pro players" from the "good players" you can find even at locals. While it seems as she got "gifted Euros", it has her effort for 2 days straight that got her in that position in the first place, and all that testing that allowed her to not misplay as much so that she gifts Euros to her opponent instead. Skip this. For example i was blessed to have some extremely successful players at my locals, and i typically beat them either by reading them or hitting them in weird spots. They asked me about deck building, format predictions and even handed me down META decks to be a testing partner (i'm a tier 2 player... for example playing branded/exo/lab instead of kash). But i find myself in events after round 6 not wanting to play any more and rushing plays. The same players seem as fresh as round 1 and they do well consistently throught multiple events. TLDR; i was considered by them a really good player, but i'm in no way a pro player. Just a competitive "local/regional" level player.
I would like worlds to have an opposite philosophy - make anything played that year unlimited. Maybe we would get tier 0 Tears and a bit of Kashtira, but that would accurately represent year 2023

I think Lab and Vanquish Soul should be what people prepare for most, and then have sided cards for stuff like Branded and Rikka. The smartest might also think about Exo and D-Link. I think the moment people stop respecting Vanquish Soul in particular is when it sweeps the tournament. If everyone shows up and isn’t ready for it, it will probably win.
I am saying this as a pendulum enjoyer so I'm probably coping, but I actually think that Dracoslayer could do reasonably well. It would have surprise factor as no one would be expecting it, and it doesn't outright lose to any of the handtraps that are gonna be popular. Also, it has the added benefit of being able to tailor their end board to a format while being decent going second especially with Kash being hit so heavily.
tear winning worlds isnt that unlikly. I would still call it a MID deck, cause planet at 1 hurts BUT you have to play multiple trivikarma to get to your planet. And if you that you are cooking and it could be a better deck in worlds than in tcg cuz bystials are only at 1.

I play traptrix and the problem is it’s just bad going 2nd unless you blowout the opponent with evenly or something.

There's 0% chance it wins. Everything at 1, including Perlereino. And they don't have Chaos Ruler, which is what's making the deck top in the OCG.

Drytron is indeed very playable in this format. Eva banned and orange light at 1 are the only restrictions it has.

Traptrix is not similiar to Lab, like at all. It's not even really a trap deck, it's a rank 4 toolbox deck supplemented by a few trap holes.

It's more if it was 150m race. Best players would still be good, but it's not something they practice regularly

Why world has a custom banlist?
Because tournament includes both OCG and TCG region, it is not fair to use OCG banlist or TCG banlist It gives advantage for players of that region.
