That putrid tree spirit in the rot pool is very cheese-able by quickly jumping back onto the branch you came in on after you trigger him. From there you can use your ranged attack of choice since he cannot get onto the branches. Fire is particularly effective. Thankfully he does not respawn once you kill him.
That’s what I did. It was so late in the game that I had just stopped caring about beating bosses “properly”. I was happy to beat another putrid spirit with cheese.
I recently found out that arteria leaves are extremely useful because you can craft a perfumer potion that grants the same effect as the opaline crystal tear, as in you become almost completely immune to damage and COMPLETLY immune to being knocked down and since it's a perfume you can hold up to 20 at a time
You can also equip it on your mimic and whenever it uses it in your vicinity you get the buff as well. But yea, those things are basically a 1-shot save. Super useful, especially for crazy heavy hitters like Placidusax.
Things Dom seemed to have missed. You can get through any swampy areas without the slowdown with the Erdtree Favour talisman. It doesn't say it, but if you equip it all these areas are much easier. Also he didn't clear out the area with all the Royal Revenants and the room with 3 Crystallians before the second Avatar. There is also an item on the second floor which you can get using the ladder in the room with site of grace after the second avatar.
Also missed Clean Rot Knight Finlay ashes and above that in a dark room there's an Ancient Smithing Stone (i think)...it's something significant at any rate.
For those looking to cheese the Putrid Tree Spirit, simply make a mage build. Agro him and run to the tree you jumped down from. There is a smaller branch just to the left. Go up that branch get a safe distance and just use comet azur. I am a melee player mostly and even at level 200 and lord of blasphemy it's basically impossible with the rot build up and lack of space. It really feels like a boss you can only beat by cheesing
I used blasphemous blade for this area, and I was one-shotting enemies constantly. Fire in general really works for this area, and if you use the upgraded blasphemous blade, it makes this area really pleasant, actually.
The crystal enemies can be cheesed using Night Maidens Mist for int builds. They will not attack you even if you use the spell. Can be used to cheese a lot of enemies IMO. Have been using it most of the game.
At 6:46 by the ballistas up on the ledge, you can hop over the second erdtree avatar and get to the grace so you don’t have to run all the way back from the start. And there is an armor piece there as well. Also Latenna works great to summon here since she can stay on the ledge and snipe down on them
Did Dom just miss another somber ancient dragon smithing Stone? There is two in this area I think. The second one is in a chest, near the platform with the tinkle twinkle ball dude (you know what I mean). I'm 99% sure I looted two somber stones in this area.
You actually can cheese that erd tree avatar from the tower. It just takes five years. You have to wait for him to stop being agro in between attacks, and you can do the same with the second avatar by climbing the ladder behind him after agroing him
A tip for anyone having trouble with the crystallians, use strike weapons. I have lions claw on a fully upgraded night riders flail. One lions claw knocks them down, then a fully charged heavy attack staggers them and breaks them, after that just like 4 light attacks and they're done. And another tip for the BS scarlet rot area, equip a dagger with Quickstep and just Quickstep through it.
I do this with the Great Stars with the Holy Strike ash, it’s awesome as it flattened them to the ground and heals you at the same time! Which is needed because of all of those revenants
For people who do want to cheese as much as possible here: When you can get on the other side of a gap from a cleanrot knight - like in the spot you see at 3:53, or sometimes in other spots if they chase you - pull out the Alabaster Lord's Sword or any similar gravity ability, give the knight a yank, and laugh. If you want to kill the erdtree avatars with arrows, you need a ton of patience. You can get off two arrows (with Mighty Shot, which is probably necessary to get full damage from how far away you'll be) and then it'll use that homing holy projectile attack three or four times before losing interest. You can just about get off three arrows, but then you'll probably take one hit before you can get behind cover. With a +9 Pulley Bow, it took me three minutes. And if you've done that, you might as well run back on the roots after waking up the putrid tree spirit, and then shoot it a bunch too. It just can't hit you from a distance.
Didn’t find this area too hard, but definitely had trouble with that avatar trying to cheese him from the tower with arrows lol. Even when I realized he would keep shooting spells at me, that didn’t stop me from dying 5 times to him in that same way 😂
"Didn't find this area too hard." Remembers two fat trees slamming the shit out of me and remembers the uncountable revenants who bitch slap the shit out if me. Plus the thread spitting walking shrimps. The rot knights. ...maybe i was too underleveld back then.
You should cheese him from the top of the tower. He can't hit you there. The "non-working" method on display here is an embarrassment for a youtuber that thinks he can teach others... Not to mention his Putrid Tree Spirit fight at the end.
@@wowwow1691 so...it was your impression that he just thinks of himself as a teacher trying to show the ways of the master? :D if you haven't noticed yet, this channel is one of the few where you not only subscribe to the content but also to the person behind it. missed item up the ladder by the site of grace behind erdtree avatar believe its a piece of armor also cheese that putrid tree dude by agro it and then jump over to that tree branch and use spells
The putrid tree spirit in that pool can be cheesed. Run to the center to make it spawn. Then run back to where you jumped down. On the left you can jump onto a branch an then proceed to spam ranged till that thing is f***ing dead. Mite have to go up the branch a bit to not get hit by it attacks.

Elphael really tested me, the hardest dungeon in the game, by far. All those cleanrot knights, the rotten erdtree avatars, all those greatshield knights, several rotten cristalians and 5 goddamn revenants, followed by an awesome scarlet rot swamp and, of course, Malenia
there's no dungeon in any games I've played that made me rage quits as much as HellPhael did to me. the rewards on killing every bosses are quite nice, and you'll get smithing stones by killing some of them but seriously, this is literally the hardest area I've ever deal with especially in first playthrough where you literally have no idea how hard this area is til those cleanrot knights stabs you.
This is the most entertaining ER walkthrough I have ever seen! I just couldn’t help but gotten thoroughly amused. Thanks Dom Roundtable for the upload.
Around 8:53 after you go past the tree avatar there's a ladder you can climb that leads to a chest that has gear in it. I think it's a helm but I'm not sure.
I spammed my Rivers of Bloods against that twerp for the first time in my life. I don't really like using the ROB but that Ulcerated Tree Weiner literally threw me off.
You can cheese both of the avatars from range if you have patience. If you jump down immediately as you come out of from the prayer room, you can hide behind the bowl shaped pillars along the edge of the wall after clearing out the soldiers they will protect you from the avatars ranged attack, he fires it like 3 or 4 times then you can pop out and fire at him a couple times. It will take a long time and a lot of arrows but if you are really struggling they can be cheesed.
I know It may sound dumb, but the best trick against the ulcerated tree spirit on the rot pool, to me, was absolutely ignoring the scarlet rot. Focus on him, and your health (never let It go below half), roll in the pool if needed in stead of trying to hit him from a place where he will allways knock you out of. At the end of the day scarlett rot is just a timer.
@@DaemonRunner I just explained how I did It, and It was way easier to me getting rotted than falling to my death again and again, even spellcasting. You are free to do whatever you want, but that arena is made to get you knocked off or rotten and I found the rot path easyer

For some reason the first Erdtree Avatar dropped the Rotten Staff, left an item when he died and I got a second Rotten Staff. Don't know how common this is, but hey 2 for the price of 1
Ugh that 1st avatar took me forever to beat I died so many times to both. Finally beat him by cheering him back and forth with the gilaxis spear or however you spell it from the capital with its lighting spear special attack. The 2nd one I would cheese it up and down the ladder to kill the 2 knights with it and slowly wittle down its health.
Both Erdtree Avatars From a distance I used Stone of Gurrang, 6 or 7 does the trick!! I I Literally ranged attacked the entire courtyard area with the royal knights, even drawing out the Cleanrot Knights. Much easier!! The 3 crystal guardians, my favorite spell Night Maiden's Mist kills them all after only about 4 casts, and the prawns in the lake... Lightning arrows in the water near them... works WONDERS!!! I would've LOVED to see the Revenant's area though. So tough!!! Ugh!!
for the crystalions or any crystalion in the game try giant stone crusher along with the Ironjar aromatic perfume . don’t worry about moving slow as the jump attack moves you forward. hit one with two charged r2 attacks and it will stagger it. with the dagger talisman equipped you should be able to finish them off and take advantage of the invincibility frames as you are in the critical hit animation because the other crystal guys will attack and probably kill you.
In the first area you missed going through the bottom area with a few items including a door you need a key with at the end where you can get one of the seal talismans :(
I was able to cheese the first avatar from that tower with rain of arrows, fire arrows, the ranged talismans, and then just some camera and targeting manipulation. Pretty much the same thing with the second one too, but used a wall for cover.
Looks like you forgot to talk about the seedbed curse you can get from jumping from bridge that the first putrid avatar was on. On the end opposite of the somber smithing stone before you go inside where the crystal Ian is you can jump off to the left and walk into a door. Leading to that room with 3 crystalians
I cheesed the first putrid erdtree avatar from the top of the tower where you got the Miquelon knights sword. I used rock sling just out of reach of those ranged attacks.
Cheesed Erdtree with simple rock sling spell with extended arrow talisman(increases range of meteor spell) Not sure that was necessary to equip talisman/ Than position myself on the upper staircase just above the column where others have tried to takedown Erdtree from a distance/ Generally got 3 shots off before Erdtree starts retaliating/ Duck behind the staircase railing during the retaliation/ Wait till tree stops/ Repeat your attack/
The putrid avatar is also weak against the fire from the sword of night and flame. For the Haligtree knights try siluria's tree spear. The regular soldiers can be killed quickly with the coded sword. For the ulcerated tree spirit try the envoy's longhorn.
There's a seedbed curse somewhere in a hard to notice/reach room. I totally loved this area and Faram Azula. Best areas in the game if you can have the patience to get past a few tricky parts that beat you up repeatedly lol. But I admit to sprinting past a few misbegottens giving them whiplash...
I just finished the area, a tip for the rot pond: Use bow to snipe all the little ones so they don't bother you when you trying to cross it, equip dagger as backup weapon so you can quick step through the rot with ease. The putrid tree spirit in this area is a bit annoying, use weapon art with widen slash/attack range like moonveil, try to stay to its side not the front, else you are likely to become its chew toy.
Thst first Erdtree dude can be cheesed from the tower with glintstone greatbow or something similar. Barely any of those gold projectiles will reach you.
At 8:02 - if you have Mohgwyn's Spear you can cheese the Erdtree while killing the two soldiers. Walk to the door to the point you can use a summon, call out a summon, then use the spear over and over.
I've killed almost every crystalian in the game with Night Maiden's Mist. Those 3 in the vid, I just stood on the root and cooked em in it; they didn't even move.
I know I'm late to the party, but you can cheese the first tree avatar from the top where the bell is with firepots and ritual firepots and his stupid gold bolts hit the building below your feet. May have to back up once or twice, but not usually at all.
You can actually cheese the first erdtree avatar from a platform on the right you can drop down to, right after coming out the church into that area - you need a weapon/spell with enough range tho :)
If you use the balcony where there are two soldiers, you can cheese the erdtree avatar using rock sling, his beams will just hit the railings. No damage taken
1st playthru here. The Avatar that drops the Rotten Staff no shit dropped 2. Unless i had one in inventory from some other point, he definitely dropped 2. I googled the staff and he's the only one who drops it. I was rapidly tapping 'Y' for whatever reason. Maybe that had something to do with it.
So about that first Erdtree Avatar, I decided to stone it to death with Rock Sling and actually managed to kill it without getting beamed. 2 funny things about the scenario. 1: My absolute defense against the PEA. The marble fence. I just stood behind it and proceed to not get hit once. 2: I didn't directly kill it. I guess it's path-finding AI got super fucked or something because it just ended up *falling off the bridge and died.*
He straight one shot me in his 1st hit on me. I cheesed him by shooting him with my Pulley Bow and Serpent Arrows. It took a few minutes but wasn't too annoying
Not ashamed to admit that I cheesed the heck out of that putrid tree nightmare. Spawned him, then ran like a scalded dog back to the root that goes down, then up to the root that takes you back to where you entered the area. I used rotten dragon breath and arrows on him while he rolled around trying to get to me.
I cheesed the first erdtree avatar from the top of the tower wehre you got the Miquellan Knight's Sword. I use rain of arrows. He spammed his range attack but i was protected by the ledge of the tower.
Nice one Dom. I absolutely hate this area... lols.. maybe just a bit less than the tree though.. With regards the crystallians, for a build not dedicated to faith, two blasts of flame of the redmanes breaks their stance for a critical. I pretty much take them down with the ash on a misericorde and about three criticals.
What level are you and style? I've never died from an erdtree boss. I've died from fall damage more than any single boss. However I've yet to face Melania or Godfrey's final forms(just faced his ghost golden form and didn't die. I'm a mage and do use summons. I avoid using torrent. The fire giant took awhile for me. My playstyle didn't match with the firegiant. I died quite a bit against him. I had to leave and level up a bit and grab swarm of flies post nerf patch. He's so far the hardest enemy I've faced.
@@12345....... I'm a 186 level mage. It might just be how you play, my friend. I can only suggest parrying more, use a faster lighter weapon and dodge more. Use whole armour sets for extra boosts I wouldn't mix and match.

The putrid avatar is also weak against the fire from the sword of night and flame. For the Haligtree knights try siluria's tree spear. The regular soldiers can be killed quickly with the coded sword. For the ulcerated tree spirit try the envoy's longhorn.
I’m bleed but I cheesed the tree with flame standing on the root. Be careful though. He can reach part of the root with one of his slam attacks. GL
I got so fed up with this area, I cheesed the lift down to Malenia and missed most of it out.
This like my 3 time watching this lol. The stone ball is such a good tip
taking the hint from your consumables video you can volcano pot the erdtree avatar from the tower also all the knights are vunarable to volcano pots
I cheesed that Erdtree with Black flame ball, worked for me
I know I'm late to the party, but you can cheese the first tree avatar from the top where the bell is with firepots and ritual firepots and his stupid gold bolts hit the building below your feet. May have to back up once or twice, but not usually at all.
You can actually cheese the first erdtree avatar from a platform on the right you can drop down to, right after coming out the church into that area - you need a weapon/spell with enough range tho :)
in my first play through i spammed frost at the tree spirit... he can also be baited in to a corner and get stuck too if your having problems
You can use the bow on the Erdtree Avatar, you have to kneel or dodge and use fire
Volcano pots for the avatars and there is a ladder near grace go up there it is easy.
For the avatar I use the fog gate room and Loretta mastery bow and radahn swords
Something this area taught me: You actually are better off simply walking through Crimson Rot than trying to sprint or jump through.
A dagger with quistep is better and in the lake of rot that works wonders
I was able to cheese the second erd tree Avatar from up where the first two ballista guys were, using frenzied burst and bloodboon.
Not ashamed to admit that I cheesed both avatars with volcano pots while peekaboo throwing them from above to avoid that attack they do. 😅
That's such a fun area! I am very much looking forward to part 2 of this.
I cheesed the first erdtree avatar from the top of the tower wehre you got the Miquellan Knight's Sword. I use rain of arrows. He spammed his range attack but i was protected by the ledge of the tower.
That little plan to run past the knights and avatar didn't work so well for me died many times, think you got lucky.
Activated the putrid tree sprite, jumped back on the branch and cheesed him with arrow from afar
Did u get the Haligtree Knight's helm? - up the ladder after the grace following your last putrid avatar fight
Do you sleep?! As usual is a very helpful video.
You missed the ladder that is visible on the left at 8:40. A helmet and, I think, something on the ledge up there. Also, great cheese potential.
Any rot area it's way easier and faster if you use blood hound step to just zoom through quick and painless
You missed the bottom floor and the stone sword key area's. But thank you for what you did show
I think you missed one of the best spirit ashes...CLEANROT KNIGHT FINLAY ASHES
I still can't beat the erdtree avatars without plenty of cheese
What level are you and style? I've never died from an erdtree boss. I've died from fall damage more than any single boss. However I've yet to face Melania or Godfrey's final forms(just faced his ghost golden form and didn't die. I'm a mage and do use summons. I avoid using torrent. The fire giant took awhile for me. My playstyle didn't match with the firegiant. I died quite a bit against him. I had to leave and level up a bit and grab swarm of flies post nerf patch. He's so far the hardest enemy I've faced.
@@GFG2gifted713 melee. Still get 2 hitted
@@12345....... I'm a 186 level mage. It might just be how you play, my friend. I can only suggest parrying more, use a faster lighter weapon and dodge more. Use whole armour sets for extra boosts I wouldn't mix and match.
Dom?... Are your "things you missed in elden ring" vids in progression order, level wise? Or just your personal order?
I honestly just poison mist the putrid tree spirit from behind . Just sneak up from behind and it spawns and doesn’t see u yet
You can cheese the rotten tree, jumping to one of the branches, and then rock sling it.
I haven’t confirmed it but I heard you can bloodhound step through the pool of rot
love your videos... thank you for the wonderful content
Love these videos, but you shouldn't call them "Everything You Missed..." since you actually are going quite quickly, and inherently missing some stuff along the way. Not a huge deal, but that's the reason you're getting this type of feedback. Also, backstepping through rot (even lava) is the best way to traverse them, but make sure to have boloses and the cleansing incantation. Meanwhile, I'll continue watching and enjoying the vids. Cheers!
Use heal on those royal revanents kills then in two shot
5 videos in as many days. Props to you AND your editor sir. Big props.
You miss the other ancient sober stone and that clearot summon ashes
the putrid tree spirit here is better to fight at a distance by jumping back on the branche
Okay, somehow I completely missed the Tree Spirit Boss hahaha.
Super-easy to cheese, if the rot’s got you down
Hey I think you should use black knife tiche instead of mimic tear. I think it’s a lot more powerful and looks really cool aswell. It does the health debuff and sap aswell
I do on my "main" playthrough, but I messed up Ranni's questline on this one, which locks you out of Tiche!! 😭😭
@@DomsRoundtable oh no😂 hey I just wanted to say I really love your videos and ur my favourite Elden ring UA-camr me and my uncle use your vids to make sure we have cleared out areas😁😁😁
@@TetrarchTD That's amazing to hear, thank you so much dude!!! 🤩
I know im late but, thanks dom
great video dom!
Good stuff
also there is another somber dragon smithing stone
When you can’t run through the rot just turn your back to where your going and spam the roll button
Hey Dom, what about that ladder shown at 8:11? Did you miss that or does that not lead to anything good?
thanks man.
I went and played DS3 after finishing Elden Ring. My first play through was 300 hrs. So I thought DS3 would be a good challenge, never played it. After the insanely nimble/tough endgame bosses in Elden Ring, many of the bosses in DS3 seem slow and telegraph their attacks. So far no issues.
Legitimately best non open area in the game
