    This video is so great! I've been getting the "Audio File Not Found" pop-up for the past 3 months but had put off really doing the research to resolve the problem. This video helped me solve my problem in the first 4 minutes. Thanks for your help!

      Glad you were successful! I can't find a package or a folder, and the list of audio files on the project includes the missing audio regions, but with zero KB, which means the audio is still lost. Any suggestions?

      These things can happen for various reasons. You probably moved the files from OG location or it could just be a bug. That being said, try to use the automatic SEARCH function or try locating manually with the dialogue box. Hope this helps.

    thank you for this. I tried renaming my tracks and when i look at audio file the name still doesnt change, what should i do?

    • @thatlogicproguy
      @thatlogicproguy  8 днів тому +1

      You are supposed to name the Track before you record so they are named accordingly. If you did it after the fact, look for a key command called “Name Regions/Cells by Track Name” and you should be solid. You can find this in the Key Command window but also in the contextual menu when ctrl+clicking on a region (under name and color)
      Thank you. Be sure to subscribe.

    Hi! Thanx for the video. I had this problem for a particular situation. I noticed that my project was very heavy, and I decided to create a 2.0 version to empty it out a bit and get back to work on it. (The reason I didn't do it all over again was because I already had templates ready to do some minor mastering.) To do That I deleted as you did both the tracks from the project and the existing tracks in the Audio folder. Result: the 'file not found' warning appeared. Do you know an alternative way to empty a project as I did, but without this Logic message appearing?

    • @thatlogicproguy
      @thatlogicproguy  Місяць тому

      Next time, you probably just want to clean up the session you have and use project alternatives instead. The “select unused” method probably works best as it mitigates confusion between file names and how those files connect/relate to the session.
      Hope I’m understanding you correctly. Best of luck!

      Sorry for this. I know the stress associated with Production life. If there are no audio files in the folders then the only explanation is that the folders were not duplicated properly so unfortunately those sessions will not works. Always try to double back. One thing I have experienced is that copying sessions over while Logic pro is open is never a good thing to do. I also find AirDrop to be a faulty way of sending files. Best of luck to you. Stay strong 💪

    I deleted old take comp folders in a project. Now I have the error. I don't want the file back. I just want logic to stop popping up and looking forever. How do I make that happen? thats what i was looking for in this video. Maybe an example where you lose the file don't find it and then stop the pop ups. Do you export start over? Do you save a new project file under a different name? Im asking because i don't know and would like to see examples on UA-cam.

    I updated my computer earlier this year for some new software and plugins and after doing so some of the software I used wasn’t compatible with the update at the time. So I ended up putting all of my projects on a hard drive in order to save them. I had the delete my computer in order to downgrade to a compatible version of Mac. I’ve been going back through my old projects and some have the audio files while others don’t. I don’t even know where to locate my recording. I’m assuming that I had some saved directly in the audio folder and some weren’t. And my midi is there but the instruments won’t play. 😢 is there a way to locate the missing audio files

      There is a relationship that occurs when you record audio, Drag in Apple Loops or third party samples, or create patches.

    Hi thanks for you amazing video. I was in a session yesterday. Spent 6 hours recording. I realized that around 9 PM that i accidentally deleted 2 entire tracks may be due to some wrong keyboard command or select all delete. I realized that about an hour later after deleting. Now i have worked for an hour after i deleted the files doing more recordings. So when i realized that I deleted something 1 hour ago in the session, i thought to make a copy of the project and use "Revert to" back to 8 PM session so that i could see what went wrong. But when i did that, it asked for locating missing files. The file name was something audioRecording#104. I went in the project folder and found that there was #103 and #105 but not #104. similarly i lost many recordings on that particular track. Well, i did not delete any files myself from audio folder of logic project. I just deleted by mistake in logic session timeline. It was a take folder. Well, i am still not able to understand why would logic delete a take in audio folder. Any help would be amazing, else i have to look in another DAW since this has happened twice to me and i lost precious recordings. Thanks

      Every time you delete an audio region on the Tracks area you are prompted with a message asking if you would like to delete or keep the file in Project Audio Bin. Most people disregard that message and simply hit the return the key. The audio region is then left out of the session entirely. You can actually delete the file from the Tracks) area but keep it inside of the Tracks) area. I’ve done many sessions, so I totally get it. things move fast especially when you are talking about big track counts with lots of plugs. The only thing I can tell you is to take precautionary measures. You can, for example lock or protect a track. this will prevent user error. This is my 10th year using the program and I have had no major issues in 7/8 years. Hope that helps.

    • @thatlogicproguy

      I would also start to reinforce a back up program, utilizing project alternatives, and definitely external hard drives. 🙏

      @@thatlogicproguy very pratical advice. I will use track protect and yes the prompt dialogue you talked about, i actually did not notice what it said. I will take care of this. By the way, i found the answer to missing audio recording. Logic sends them to trash bin, from where they can be put back. Probably i know enough now to protect myself in future. Thanks for your detailed reply. Much appreciated. Subs. thanks.

    Great video!
    I recently had a project I did (Just a small drum recording, 10 live mics or so) ALL of them came up as file not found. I didn't save it in a folder style like you suggested. I also don't think I had all the boxes checked... So I really have no idea where the files went.
    I right clicked the project and looked in package contents, audio files folder... and nothing was in there either... so its kind of a loss.
    Similar thing happened to a few other files where multiple takes were recorded. Takes 1-3 of certain tracks are missing. It's weird, and its only happened on my laptop too.
    Anyways, I'll take the tips and move on! Thanks for the video! You got a new sub!

      Did you try the SEARCH function sir? Are you promoted with a dialogue window asking you to locate them at all? LMK cheers!

      @@thatlogicproguy hey! Yup, I tried the “search” button upon opening the file too. It didn’t return anything 🫠 so I’m honestly stumped at where the files went.
      I’ve been using logic for probably 4 years now (mainly on an iMac) with no issues. But now I’m a MacBook Pro, I’m starting to see this issue pop up more frequently :/

    • @thatlogicproguy
      @thatlogicproguy  11 місяців тому

      Do you use an external harddrive? The files will be saved depending on how you save your settings. I wonder if your recording path has been changed from its default state….

    • @MartinBellamyMBDrums
      @MartinBellamyMBDrums 11 місяців тому +1

      @@thatlogicproguy I record straight into the machine: music>Logic> Logic file
      I do start from a presaved logic file (which is located in a template folder in the logic folder). Then do a “Save as” back into the “Logic folder”.. if that makes sense. So maybe that’s the issue? But it hasn’t been before

    • @thatlogicproguy
      @thatlogicproguy  11 місяців тому +1

      Working with a template is fine so long as the settings are “set correctly”. Not sure but I would def work with Folders from here on out. Sorry mate. Lesson learned I suppose… I will tell you that I believe in logic for 10 years, and the past eight years have been flawless (only because I took the time to learn everything about the program) - Keep on Rocking 🥁

      You should be able to find files (if they are available) using the Techniques in the vid. Do you remember if you saved all the assets in a folder?
