Mr know it all, he thinks he's driving a car.
😂😂😂😂
here's the thing that I learned from my instructor when I was in CDL school. 10-15MPH (6th gear). 20-25mph (7th gear ) 30-35 (8th gear) 40-45 (9th gear) 50-55 and up (10th gear) so basically you'll add up the two numbers together it'll tell you what gear to be in by keeping an eye on the speedometer
This guy knows it all. When I'm learning at a new job, I'm asking questions, not telling the trainer what I know. You drive their way, you want to drive your way, get a truck and authority. Besides, once you get through training its between you and the truck.
I know dude was nervous but he needs to shut up and just listen
Nope, if he doesn't communicate the terminology needed for both of them to be on the same page will be lost as well as the instruction.
yes, communication is important!!
So right my trainer is teaching me this right now she won't let me pass 4th gear because were in a gravel and dirt road pothole filled yard. I'm learning in a baffled tanker. Also Friday morning I passed the written and got my paper CLP so I only got 4 hrs that day. Monday is a full day 8hrs. Since I don't know anything I just listen to my trainer.
comming from some1 who floats up and down in my f350 with 40k on the trailer. he isnt wrong. but isnt right. double clutch only really works on bigrigs..... difference is shifting stroke and rpm difference... 2k max vs my 3700rpm max..
Lol that instructor is trying his best not to cuss this Mr Know it all guy out lol 😂
Dude don't listen and keeps running his mouth. Don't want to admit mistakes and learn. This right here is accident in the making. Good luck junior
that look on your face when he was forcing into gear & the grinding remind me of my pops face when he was teaching me to drive stick back in the days ... WHOA
Looks like a mr know it all , 😵👍
This guy is one of those that you can't teach. he knows everything already lmao
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. His favorite saying is “you ain’t gotta tell me I already know bruh”
Man, this guy...he just needed to listen to you and stop being know it all. Great job Junior.
My dad was over the road....but not until watching these videos...i got more respect. I grew up on manual (car)...i wouldnt know what to do in these trucks. So much more to them than just shift and go.
Thank you soooooo much for this video. I just spent 2 hours with my trainer and walked away a bit confused on how to shift properly. You have explained in under 15 minutes, leaving me with a much better understanding on what I need to do and why. Really Appreciate your videos and how you take the time to also explain the WHY something is to be done a certain way.
Sometimes it shows what bad habits we develop over time, until tested for the efficient and proper way to save on repairs. Good video to remind us that a refresher is just that - it refreshes the good memory :)
I’ve had those types of students before, the know it all type...lol...driving a manual car or pickup isn’t the same as a big truck....do y’all agree?
💯% brother.
I don’t even drive truck and I know cars and trucks don’t work the same manual or not
Looks like he lied about experience. He looks like a rookie.
Drove auto. I was rusty when I came back after 3 years out. His biggest problem is hes defensive and not taking direction.
What gave that away?.... being assigned to a trainer?
He even sits like a rookie.
@@splatterbrain3788 how can you sit like a rookie?
@@ShadowKillerD Rookies sit taller in the seat, because theirs butts are clenched 😁
Everytime he does something he looks over at you like a puppy..."see I did it daddy"
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this guy is a Mr. Know-it-all. I hate when you try to tell someone you're training something and they start of say "Yeah I know......"
Wow, and he says he's driven before? Lmao. I wouldn't give you a dime for that clutch brake. So much for a good truck. I've been driving for 37 years and I don't think I could teach him. Good luck Junior.
I feel like he thinks he is better then you
I love how he told the instructor I can bang gears lmao 😂 That’s the worst thing possible! You never force it into gear.
I've been driving AT for months, local and long haul, finally I got a run to Reno Nv in a freightliner 10sp. I was glad to get it because #1 refreshing #2 got snow in donner and Shasta so had to chained up and 10sp was the best option for those situations.
Thank you and thanks for watching 👍
Jr. I like how you keep your cool man! This guy needs to learn to listen. Keep up the good videos I learned a lot from your videos man.
Bro sounds like he wants to show off but it's not turning out like he wants. It don't matter if you drove an auto for a year you can never forget how to drive a Manuel. Just saying. I trust a Manuel transmission over an auto any day and in any weather conditions. I'm sure he will get it down one day.
Tomas Guerrero if he could stfu long enough. I cant stand someone that talks over me.
How exactly do you drive a “manuel”?
@@madhatter2646 Bro manuel is such a good driver.
@@madhatter2646 😂😂😂
Tomas Guerrero its manual not manuel
🤦🏾♀️😂. He kept it professional when he wanted to get an true attitude..
This should turn into a tv show..this is classic 😂😂
You have such patience, I wish you could teach me but technically you are cuz I watch your videos 24/7. God Bless You keep going strong
This is what I’m scared of . I got my CDL in a manual transmission. Then came to CR England and all they have is automatics -.-
Jesus Alonso exactly
“I can bang gears” one min later can’t find 5th smh😂
lol
Lol
@@MustangDesudiroz 1
Cracking up at that but seems like he doesnt want to listen to junior if he had experience he would no what junior meant by just saying to set the trailer brake than the whole throw it in neutral good way to smoke ur brakes when loaded buddy and ur engine brake ain’t engaged wish i would of seen more of him driving on the road
I can’t feel my clutch give when I drive cuz I’m only using it when starting and stopping could of said double clutch that part cracked me up to
I learned in a Mack 15 spd Tri-Plex 2 sticks, double clutch every gear at 15, I’m not bragging but it can be done. Some people are born drivers, some certainly are not.
Patience gonna be tested with this one Junior!! 😂😂 Don’t mind learning to shift but don’t make excuses about stuff 🙄 Bang gear...yeah, you’re banging them alright 😜😜
mccain1220 he knows how to drive a truck he rusty
He's not banging gears; more like he's destroying gears!
🤦🏾♂️
Lol for everyone saying he has no experience trust me he does.. I went to prime and if he would have been in our training class he would of been light years ahead of any of us. Seems like he just was bad at shifting because he hadn’t done it in a while, and was a tad to confident. I’ve been in a automatic 3 years now I guarantee if I had to go shift a 10 or 13 speed id grind gears. It’s just something you lose if you don’t use it. Plus every trucks sweet spot is different.
You're absolutely right about everything and thank you for watching 🇭🇳👍🏽😎👍🏽🇭🇳
I know a truck is different from a car but I've never forgotten how to shift a car. I would think it's the same with know how to shift a truck. I mean how do you forget.
True
This shit is so funny ...he thought he knew it all till the master got in the passenger lol 😭😭😭
Man dude handling the truck better than the others it ain't gonna take that long for him tho
God bless ur patience
Dude is so afraid of being wrong or looking unintelligent, I've found that you have to be straight up with those guys and tell them to stop making excuses, there's nothing wrong with being humble. Junior, show him all these comments, it would be good for him to see. Laughed when he said "why didn't you just tell me to double clutch" grind grind grind
Double clutching is not an easy task. Floating gears is super easy. When you clutch out you lose rpms and you must get the rpm back up to clutch in. It’s a total nightmare
I'm in love with automatic transmission, I don't care people call me lazy. If my own personal vehicle which I drive it less than a truck I bought it automatic, I have stronger reasons to love automatic trucks.
Keep it in gear so if the light changes you can keep it rolling without stopping
Damn this dude has issues
Lol
Your reaction to the trainee saying you should have just said double clutch is funny, I only been behing the wheel for two training hours and I knew what you were saying. Keep using the term Clutch in / clutch out, because it makes more since when you are going over in your head, what you need to do when shifting, because it also tells you the WHY you are shifting.
First of all shifting is all about timing, as long as you have your timing correct you can shift at almost any RPM. And you should have told him that a Truck is a totally different animal than a car. You can not shift the two vehicles the same!
I feel for you papi, best of luck with him.
This guy requires a lot of patients a lot, he talks more than he listens.
Dudes cocky ur there for a reason man
I’m with a company with all automatics why in the hell would you go back to a manual nightmare lol
i think he lying he never drove a truck shifting gears every time he shift he looks at u for vaildation plus he aint know what u meant when u said clutch in or out
ralphstayfresh he not even
Dont go nowhere near a mountain with him. We need to keep you around JR. Lol
Junior should have told this guy to teach himself.
I see this guy getting a lot of speeding tickets lol
Man, this dude needs to LISTEN ... Instead of coming back with excuses every time! Reminds me of training new officers!
I’m 15 and I drove my uncles 18 speed on a 01 Pete 379
J Cool whatchu want a cookie?
Dudes got the patience of a saint lol
Man driving them big trucks look hard. I would love to drive a big rig one day!
Funny guy...funnny 😅😅 Thanks for watching
It's a pain to learn, but once you get it, you get it. And it's a good skill to have if you need a job quick.
This guys mom must have told he was the best till he was 30
They should Train everybody in manual before they get an automatic
All the schools still train in manuals
@@mikecowan5786 that's not true
That’s not true at all a school in m town has all autos
Preston Johnson Jr. I wish they did. Nobody wants to drive a manual anymore. Eventually they’ll stop making them
The student is a know it all. Can't tell him anything
This guy is too funny he won't listen for nothing cause he thinks he knows it already
Don't pretend that you know all more than your teacher.
It was good meeting you at the Flying J/ Pilot in Barstow getting fuel.
He's going to tear that transmission up Junior. You have extreme patience with these rookies. They need to drive a straight box truck for 2 years before driving a tractor. Some drivers are not qualified for the job, no matter how much training they receive. If I was a trainer, I would be eating high blood pressure pills like candy.
D.J Ward a pro was a rookie once ,u just like him the student all talk
Jesus Colchado ...And guess what? I started small before I went big. I drove a small box truck 5 speed manual for 2 years to perfect my shifting. I was not ready for OTR or local T/T. Start with the basics 1st....then you can roll with the big dogs. The new generation don't understand levels to perfection.
D.J Ward ya I understand ur view he a cocky all y’all dude, but I’m just sayin ain’t nobody perfect , tell me this when u first started driving that 5 speed did u jump not grinding gear did u get it in ur first try , even when we all start drivin a car nobody born knowing it feel me,
D.J Ward drove box trucks for two years then switched to semi’s last year once I turned 22, it was easy just had to get used to setting up certain turns and obviously shifting
D.J Ward it’s not even the same lol you don’t what the hell you are talking about.
He probably has short man hood. He can bang them gears but he has a little gear shift.
Taking notes. Seems like he has a problem with just taking instruction and eating crow the further the video played 😂. You had patience! Good video!
Jr.is funny AF..... whoooo whoooo my man😂😂😂
You know what I say when an old veteran tells me how to better shift, even when I already know how? “Oh ok” or “ok I gotcha”. Need a lot less “nah see that’s what I’m saying, I know how to do it, it’s just blah.l blah excuse.” And a lot more “yes sir. I messed up.”
Your patience, is like that of Job.
After a month with JR this guy will be rolling just fine.
Keep your head up kid 👌
He needs to learn the phrase "tickle the gears"
It's not a car dude it's a whole new ball game in a semi
Fast and the furious rev matching double clutching wide open throttle shift know it all
Here's an easy way to KNOW what gear to be in, doesnt matter if it's up or down.
Pay attention to rpms and wheel speed ( mph ) . Simple math here...
15mph =6th gear 1+5=6
25mph=7th gear 2+5=7
35mph=8th gear 3+5=8
From here u can figure out the rest .
Pretty simple to remember and always know what gear you should and need to be in
I didn't get the part about the trailer brakes. 0:57 You never set your trailer brakes when you park in winter? You leave air in the system while parked? The humidity in the air will freeze on you! I didn't get something, right?! You are pulling a trailer here, right?
The reason I don't apply brakes is because when winter comes then I will be used to not setting them. The reason you dont set them is because they will freeze up and when you go to release them you will not be able to move because the brakes are locked up (frozen). The moist in the lines is because of improper maintenance on draining your air tanks. I hope I was able to clear it up 🇭🇳👍😎👍🇭🇳
Junior Honduras Hmm. It gets awfully cold up here in Québec. Ok.
Ohh yes im sure it does 😁😁
Junior Honduras I've had trouble with parked trailers, true. Mecanic did something with alcohol? once. I just said thank-you.
That will help frozen lines but if the PADS freeze to the DRUMS the trailer will be locked up. Only a (big) hammer or a blow torch will release them.
One of the things I don't like about students like this is that they think they know. you just let him instruct you learn and then drive how you want. shut up
Why was 2 minute so satisfying.
Boy does remind me of school. I WAS AS NERVOUS. DON'T GIVE UP
m d You said that right .😖
I can't stand this student. This trainer has patience
Lol my last student was like him your patients will be test. I was in a rush I had to make it to the pad the day I seen you I hope I can actually have time next time I see you
I admire you man, i couldnt work with mr know it all there. Youve got a lot of patients. I would have told that clown to gtfo!
Junior este vato es de sangre pesada, good luck
Great teacher 👍
The look he gave him at 7:40 was legendary
Yeah, that was priceless wasn't it, more like WTF?? He needs to get off of those brake linings/brake cams and smooth out his clutch technique and use all the gears, so as not to burn up the same one prematurely. Like a bicycle don't stay in the same gear too much, spread it out to make for more even wear, and I'm talking multi-speed index not a fixed.
Hopefully, all will be automatic. Besides driving a large vehicle, I imagine shifting all those gears are intimidating to future drivers. Probably one of the reasons there's always a shortage of drivers. With so much going on on the highways nowadays, worrying about whether or not you're in the right gears, scraping gears, focusing on rpms and whatnot, it's an unnecessary part of the driving experience. This guy is a good trainer I must say. When you have someone with patience and understanding, you will succeed.
This dude should be taking the whole course and not a refresher (?)
Every smart man knows when to play dumb......he ain't playin!!
The student is lying that he once pulled a manual for a year because doesnt even have composure when it comes to shifting
Perfect example of someone who is dangerous. Someone would get killed with him behind the wheel.
Junior, love the channel, lots of great info.
I'm studying for my CDL and was wondering, does having manual driving experience in regular cars and trucks help ease the hardship of learning a 10 speed? Thanks Junior, keep up the great work.
Hands on the wheel when not shifting lol..junior you forget to tell him that.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣omg this makes me nervous but some people say it's like riding a bike .....I'm ready to start back driving 😇😇😇😇😇😇😇
Good luck JR
Banging gears? Nah buddy that's grinding gears!! This dude never drove a truck..I wouldn't be critical if he just said he never drove and he's there to learn but this cat said he drove trucks 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I bet you this dude has had 15 jobs since this video
Why is he there just to argue with the instructor?? 🤔
1:14 ?????? that is why you have purge line on your tank
in the other part, that guy is going to wreck the transmission for sure.... or he's going to break the pole..
Dude should be working at best buy.
Guy seemed mad about hearing the information. Seems like he think he knows it all
Try teaching him on a mack. Those things are so much different that frieghtliners and road trucks.
Old trucker saying....a truck in neutral is a truck outta control...
Cuando el estudiante siente que sabe mucho y no escucha y ala ves no seda cuenta que la está cagando
There wasnt no banging gears, all grinding.
I live in Springfield Missouri! I wanna drive for prime and I need my cdl
If he didn’t mash the potaters so hard on the gear (if you grind, grind soft. These trucks are gonna grind sometimes. The softer you do it, the less damage will be done to the gears in my experience.) he’d be able to kinda ease it in. But oh well.
