Michael is really good at putting things back together carefully, making sure everything lines up and isn't too tight. He's not just fixing the problem; he's making sure it stays fixed. I know because my old car has 152,000 miles on it, and it's still doing great. The only thing I had to change was the power steering reservoir, and now it runs smoothly thanks to one from Euro Power Motorsports.
Can you say how long did this fix work for you? Did it leak anytime soon after that fix ? I am thinking to do this job before buying an aftermarket parts to change the reservoir and hoses
Could you tell us how you cut the pipe? Sorry for sounding so naive. Did you cutter it or scissor it? Im about to try this and need every little detail 😊
@@sugengnofianto682 If your power steering fluid has the correct level, then it might your pump. A leak will at the reservoir will not cause a whining noise.
The power steering fluid lines might be brittle, at least the bigger one - I was told this happens regulary. And yup, its leaking even after I cut off a bit and put a new hose clamp on.
Was your car jacked up at the front whilst doing this or not? I didn't see you drain the old ATF oil out from the bottom of the car so I assume you didn't? Cheers.
Fabian Dee It wasn't. I just drain the fluid from reservoir and from hoses for this repair. After that I just top up with fluid. This car is now in the process of installing a turbo kit. Just watch my other videos on my channel. Thx for watching
Fixing the leak is not a final solution. System needed a complete flush. Steering rack and seals are going next. Learn the flush procedure. Mercedes Benz saying & R&R filter with complete flush every 40,000 miles.
Clean engine bay and underbody @ almost 300000 km, props dude, nicely done.
I tried the same fix on my BMW E53. It works! The leak was fixed. Thanks.

GREAT VIDEO, when a German guy is presenting ALL makes sense.......!!! GREAT JOB, Thanks
best video. no nonsense, straight to the point video with a great real life solution. SUBSCRIBED
2002 525i in Toronto...my fathers car, never winter driven; my steering leak was resolved simply by changing the o-ring in the reservoir cap....!!!!
The Reservoir with filter needed a replacement at 75,000 miles. Removing air box would have allowed hose replacements.
I had to get a new alternator because there was leaves and a paper towel in the alternator air duct blocking the air flow keeping the alternator cool.
Great! Thanks. Should I replace with new power steering fluid while at it?
it should say 'atf oil only' on the cap, so you can use most Automatic Transmission Fluids, like Dexton 3
Since you are on it, might as well change it out.
Ive been recommended to not use screw clamps for the two hoses but use crimp or single ear clamps?
Thanks for the video!
It is great! What is the quantity of oil ?
Can you say how long did this fix work for you?

I had the car after this fix for about another 6 months and never leaked again
@@WarpDriveM than I will give it a try
Good ideea. Thanks man. You just saved my ass
Great sharing. Thanks buddy.

I've used a cutter and just removed the old part were the clamp was.
It's also possible that your VANOS oil line is leaking.
TerrybleGamer any info on this?
Mine is leaking too (e34 m50) and whizzing when the steering turns right and left, could it be has the same problem?

@@TerrybleGamer thanks for the information
Thanks Dude, this video helped me a lot.
Some one selling me a Bmw 2003 3 series 325i for 1,000 it has the same problem u think it’s worth buying and fixing it or no ???
If the car works for that price is worth it. The repair is quite simple.
the music is too loud
Agreed!
I have this issue with my E39 530d (M57 engine.) I presume the power steering system is the same. I know it is different on the V8 models.
Great Video thanks.......what kind of intake is that?
I think it was an eBay sport intake 😄
Good vid. Nice clean engine. What's the tin foil for at the back of the engine bay/
It was in there just temporarily because the plastic trim was burned and i didn't want to let the heat melt something else...
Good job, Thank for the video.
Gonna do this, but I notice one of my hoses been rubbing on the air box, and the threads inside the hose wall are showing. Will replace as well.
I am confused. If it's leaking, why not just tighten the clamp?
Because there is no rubber anymore on that old part of the hose. That's why you have to cut that part out.
I have one of these plastic junkers. Never ending repair with this car.
hello mate. what e39 model is this?
what atf would you recommend for e39 525i atf zf transmission. thanks!
mobil 1 atf 220
Where did you get that custom air box
It's not custom, he wrapped it

+JxG it is true! This is a common problem with the e39. In my case it's not leaking anymore
The big one the the return pipe ?

Turbo kit....I can't wait to see it.
Thanks for this video.
I have the same issue with my 2001 E38 . I'll have to try this in efforts of saving $$$$$$.
Did this work? Has the leak gone away? Please let us know. Thanks.
+jorge vega till now i don't have any problems....very soon I will post an update on the e39! Thx for watching!
@@WarpDriveM I'm having if the same problem on my 2004 BMW 325i, what did u use to cut the hoses with??
I've used a normal cutter, but be careful that hose is hard and you can slip the cutter in to your hands ✋!
I'm sorry can you please make the music louder?
Surly it wauld have been a better job to just replace the two hoses for the sake of how much they cost
that logo on the clamps make them about $2 more....
For sure! Nice touch tho...
