I think they had good intentions - doing stuff safer is a thing - we will see how it plays out. I NEED to talk to a sparkie in person and start talking through my plan and make a solid plan to move foward - fingers crossed I can set the standard and help everyone along the way
Man these rules are harsh, thankfully all my battery builds so far have been portable and as a result don't suffer from these new rules. Seems the best way to still make your own battery systems will be to make it in a big chest and put wheels on it, although that doesn't help if you want to make a powerwall integrated into a house's mains wiring (then again doing that without an electrician was already illegal). This situation seems similar to the FPV drone hobby. When the rules become so extreme that everyone is breaking at least one of them, it becomes easy to ignore them all together.
Smoke detectors, alarm, power disconnect, heat sensors and automatic extinguishers? Wouldn't you want to protect your investment? How do the pros handle this?🤔
I’m here to tell you even the pros put their battery packs in a container and if you have a thermal runaway you close the container door and let it burn itself out. Not much will stop a lithium fire
Alan Hillyard where does the smoke go? Wont the container explode? Doesnt need a fire oxygen from the outside? If so, this container will be a big ass long lasting enviroment warmer without oxygen and fire burning.

I moved a box similar to your box by my self, I bought 20 PVC pipes that were a foot longer than my box was wide. Laying them on the ground under the box, I was able to slide it back. Yes, I would uncover a pipe and move back behind. I had 2 sand bags to stop it from rolling too far. One in the back, one in front, move the bag to keep it from rolling back. Move the bag in back, drop in a pipe and keep going. Hardest part was getting all the pipes out from under. A floor jack did the job.

Hello, thanks for the second video, ok I have understand why you had chosen cells HS in blue, ok the big container for the enormous battery ! More space for your project ! Good job man !
Sorry, I don’t understand English. But to what I saw, I had questions. Have you considered those a couple of nuances for battery assemblies? 1) The current goes along the smallest resistance path. No matter how ideal the batteries would be, their internal resistance is different. And because of this, when charging an assembly of thousands of batteries, more than half of the batteries will not charge up to half the charge, while some batteries will already be in a recharged state (the battery charge is above normal ) And during operation, slowly but surely, one by one, the batteries will fail, along the path of least resistance. 2) The charge of the battery and the release of energy by the battery occur due to the chemical process occurring inside the battery. During this chemical process, heat is generated. Batteries located in the center of this battery assembly will overheat, from overheating they will leak, burst and cause a short circuit. So, the first question - how will you control the charge level of each battery from thousands of batteries, so as not to allow the battery to charge above normal? The second question is how will you cool the batteries, especially those in the center?
@@HBPowerwall By "per cell ..." you mean each battery separately, or battery assembly 0:05. If you mean the battery assembly, then I agree - with such currents it is not afraid of overcharging and overheating, only I'm afraid to imagine how much it will charge. But if you mean each battery separately, then you will not control it. Because of this, modern laptops get rid of such batteries, since they charge differently because of different resistance and varying degrees of wear.
@@HBPowerwall Also should put a roof over it as old containers tend to leak overtime plus the gap between the container and the roof you can store your railing then only have to deal with tree snakes.
I like your new battery box. One thing I would like to see is one box just for battery's and electronics somewhere else. So if there was any accident you would only loose second hand batteries Not everything. Even separated your batteries in half. Starting to get scared of dendrites. Короче, мужик лучше бы поставил деревянный домик и внутри за те же деньги свинцовые аккумуляторы было бы эффективнее, дешевле и больше было бы ёмкости.

говорит что - " Total max charge/draw is 0.33 amps per cell... issues disappear " - " Общая максимальная зарядка / потребление составляет 0,33 А на ячейку ...
ok fair enough, i'll give you a sub for the hard work ;)
I'll take that :)
0:50 ... so ... the block weight (how many lbm?) is held by lower battaries. Not sure if it safe in time to load a cell like with side load. It was not designed to provide structural support.

Nanny state and securing jobs for the boys again. Soon you will need to a call in an electrician to put bread and pull toast out of a toaster or make a cup of coffee (unless you use gas stove then its a licensed plumber).
I think they had good intentions - doing stuff safer is a thing - we will see how it plays out. I NEED to talk to a sparkie in person and start talking through my plan and make a solid plan to move foward - fingers crossed I can set the standard and help everyone along the way
@@HBPowerwall do you have a link to part 1 btw?
Man these rules are harsh, thankfully all my battery builds so far have been portable and as a result don't suffer from these new rules. Seems the best way to still make your own battery systems will be to make it in a big chest and put wheels on it, although that doesn't help if you want to make a powerwall integrated into a house's mains wiring (then again doing that without an electrician was already illegal).
This situation seems similar to the FPV drone hobby. When the rules become so extreme that everyone is breaking at least one of them, it becomes easy to ignore them all together.

What happens if one battery bursts into flames? Will it start a chain reaction and others will start to burn also? How could that be prevented?
One would hope the CID activates , if that doesn't the cell fuse, if that fails the container will contain the fire till it burns itself out
Smoke detectors, alarm, power disconnect, heat sensors and automatic extinguishers?
Wouldn't you want to protect your investment?
How do the pros handle this?🤔
@@HBPowerwall ua-cam.com/video/Q4qQ1IV4gWQ/v-deo.html
I’m here to tell you even the pros put their battery packs in a container and if you have a thermal runaway you close the container door and let it burn itself out. Not much will stop a lithium fire
Alan Hillyard where does the smoke go?
Wont the container explode?
Doesnt need a fire oxygen from the outside?
If so, this container will be a big ass long lasting enviroment warmer without oxygen and fire burning.
Lots of work moving that container ..Got to give you Credit not easy Will be awesome once done ✅ 👍
Researching linings for it - DAM fire rated stuff is expensive
HBPowerwall I bet it’s expensive they make you pay one way or another if you’re not paying for electricity ☹️ ..Can’t wait to see the Build once you’re done ..It should be awesome 👏
I'm wondering chicken or the egg... do I start lining the shed or wait for all the parts to lay them out and make sure there is support for them. As well as electrical layout
The voice volume is mighty low, and the sound effects WAY too loud.
HOWEVER, I find it fascinating what you've done so far.
Yeh, had a few small complaints about the audio - didn't have another few hours to go through it all over again to fix. The auto level is a horrible tool on PowerDirector
Yeah I'm the same, and it's actually painful because of my tinnitus. I have to turn up the voice to hear it, but then the music blows my ears out. Ears are supposed to naturally adjust for volumes, but mine are set to 11 permanently.
Also the generic UA-cam royalty free music is not only terrible it's also in millions of UA-cam videos and therefore annoying and it does not add any value to your otherwise great videos.
@@SidneyCritic Tinnitus by itself shouldn't be painful. Could be clogged earwax, or a brain tumor. Or anxiety disorder (don't worry it's definitely maybe not a tumor)
It’s probably a tumour 😆
this is really cool, great work
Parabéns pelo sistema, muito bom um dos melhores que já vi.
Looks good. But why 18650 and how do U replace em when they fail? I was going to make one (much much smaller) on 18650 but any calculations says that LiFePO4 is easier to build and cheaper to buy. They also bigger and easier to replace.
PS @ recovered from old laptops@ OK so you got them probably cheap. But it is still time consuming process of testing them, right?
The build video your way would let’s face it prey average lol 😂
Great videos and content 👍👍, subbed ✌️. I thought about doing something similar when I had a 6kw solar system put in but according to energy Australia I am already using all of it through the day and have no extra to store lol
Thanks for the sub! Also if you're in Australia and have the premium feed in tariff you'll loose it! But if your only getting 6-13c it's well worth it
Hey Man over here in NZ seems a bit hard to source 18650s, any main place you suggest i can find some or buy at a price with out loosing a arm and a leg. Thanks
It's harder to find them here also - I got these from a local school via a recycler

Nice
I hope you have some kind of ventilation for those cells the last thing that you want to do is over heat them they can rupture
Yes - naturally

Dad used to say, "Some people work harder getting out of work, than if they just worked". I thought of that when you said to your wife, you did not like to work.

Going to say that would be a rewarding task lol even if it took way longer replacing would be easier than fixing HAAHAHA

How much charge does this hold compared to the tesla powerwall 2? So pretty much how many Tesla powerwall 2s of power does your set up hold?
About 2
Sorry, I don’t understand English. But to what I saw, I had questions. Have you considered those a couple of nuances for battery assemblies?
1) The current goes along the smallest resistance path. No matter how ideal the batteries would be, their internal resistance is different. And because of this, when charging an assembly of thousands of batteries, more than half of the batteries will not charge up to half the charge, while some batteries will already be in a recharged state (the battery charge is above normal
) And during operation, slowly but surely, one by one, the batteries will fail, along the path of least resistance.
Total max charge/draw is 0.33 amps per cell... issues disappear
@@HBPowerwall
By "per cell ..." you mean each battery separately, or battery assembly 0:05.
Hey now you have more roof space for the new array lol. and the supervisor is always right.
You got that right!
This looks like a fun project! now to find 5,000,000 batteries! xD

If container is on blocks, it makes a great place to store conduit, pv rails, scaffording etc.
Good place for the snakes to hide too... Conversation with wifee is that we should concrete it all before anything else happens
@@HBPowerwall Also should put a roof over it as old containers tend to leak overtime plus the gap between the container and the roof you can store your railing then only have to deal with tree snakes.
Add roof over top will aid with cooling - double skin effect
