When I was 2 years old my Grandfather gave me a Beagle for my birthday and he was named Boomer Boy. He was the best rabbit hunter and listened to both me and my Grandfather and no one else. He died from injuries protecting me from a german shepard and I miss him still to this day 50 years later. I have always loved this breed as I was around them from the first day I was born.
I haven't been rabbit hunting since my friend passed away. Loved hearing the dogs barking in the woods. Great video. Thanks for the memories, even though I wasn't there it was great.
I am so glad to have found your videos on youtube. It's refreshing to see family oriented events. We love your baby Bianca and Crystal . You have an amazing family. My husband likes when you go to Cuba. We were born there in 1954. We came to the US and was raised here. Keep doing what upu are doing. God bless your family
Oh how I love to hear hunting dogs on the scent. It's been way too many years since I heard that beautiful chorus. I used to love to hear them on a deer or rabbit. We had both beagles and walkers and you talk about about fun. We had two cross breeds (walker/beagle mix) Sheena and I can't for the life of me remember the other one's name. Those crazy dogs would run and run and people would call us three and four counties over when they would quit running. It was crazy but so much fun. Thank you for the memories my dear. Everytime I watch your videos you bring up such beautiful memories of my younger days. Honey I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas and a beautiful New Year.
When my sister and I was young my dadst hunting buddy gave him two beagle puppies to train to hunt within two months queen and princess had been turned into our pets. Needless to say they never went hunting. My dad and sister are both gone to heaven but I want to thank you for reminding me of this memory with your video. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Thank you for lovely Sunday after noon. For us old boys up here in Manyland, we call that a 2 for 1 day, because we go for pheasant with the dogs and they stir up the rabbits too ! So we get both for hunting that day. So what you made today is called rabbit fricassee and I love it all the way.
I was into hunting rabbits, as well as field trials with my cousin, who got me into dog hunting with beagles. He was like a second Daddy to me . He passed and I just lost interest. Thanks for the video. Brought back some great memories.
G'day mate, Love hunting with dogs it's so much fun. We usually spotlight for rabbits over here and get heaps. Definitely gotta try that recipe looks great. God bless you guys.🦘👍
I’ll add that to my crockpot dinner list! When we hunted around home (S.E. Pennsylvania) our mom made a lot of good Pa Dutch recipes and one of my favorites was the baked pot pies. She made them with either rabbit, squirrel or pheasant, whatever we brought home from the field. It was par-cooked on stovetop, cubed/shredded and put in pie dish with shredded potatoes, carrots and onions, salt/pepper and poured over a milk/flour mixture to make the “gravy”. Then covered it with pie crust. Baked maybe 30-40 min, not sure on the time? Was always a good Sunday dinner during hunting season!
Bring that bunny home Ian! Years ago I had an Aunt who raised them commercially for food, my hubby for the summer each year, I love the meat, but like anything the wild always is better, easy to get spoiled on that like fishing. Nature's grocery store is my favorite!
Oh damn, you did say Cuba.. love those peeps!!! Caught bones one tarpon one permit and had cast on two snook on flies that I tied. That place is the Bomb!!!
Im so glad i came across your channel, i believe i discovered it on bluegabe's channel. its like im looking at my life on camera. My wife tells me all the time to start a channel she says your doing it anyways so just film it. hunting, fishing and the outdoors is my passion I love your videos
Woods Rabbits are the best eating ( excluding domestic raised ). Loads of fun hunting with dogs. Beagles are pretty fast running dogs ( fast action ). Using Basset Hounds are slower running and gives the rabbit more time to stop and rest, they're for easer to be seen and shoot . Making for a more relaxed hunt and usually more shots and more meat in the pot ! Great video.
Aloha Ian. Beagles used to be one of those dogs you saw everywhere, like basset hounds and Dalmatians. Just don’t see em much anymore. We raised and ate our own rabbits in Ohio when I was a kid. Had to tell my brother it was special chicken.
Great video Tug! You are certainly putting out some variety of content. Love the rabbit hunt, sometimes it’s just hunting, just like fishing… not catching. Too bad you weren’t able to get one yourself. That plate of food you made looked so delicious. And carrots roasted have so much better flavour. Next time, try slicing down the middle as it creates more surface to flavour. And it’s faster. Thanks for sharing!!!
This video made me Smile the whole time I was watching it. I had a pair of Beagles years ago. To watch them work those bunnies was amazing. Honestly the best rabbit dog I have ever had was a Saint Bernard. She was slow enough to get the rabbits out in front of her. She caught a couple on the ice. She loved the heads. Crazy.
Loved the Beagles. They are so enthusiastic. My great uncle, Ben Willard, was Miami’s only Criminal Court judge for 30 years or so. He lived right next to the Orange Bowl and had kennels full of fox hounds. They are noisy as hell. When people moved near they would 4:034:05 😮 call the police to complain about the constant barking, but he was the judge so nothing happened. The hunt was weird. They would take the dogs out to the woods down around Homestead build a bonfire and sit around listening to the dogs. Later they would gather them up. If the ever caught a fox I never saw one. Your recipe looked great and would work for almost any meat.
@@TugTrashOutdoors , He was on the 1906 or 07 Stetson football team and a WW 1 veteran. Really great man. I throughly enjoy your fishing, hunting, crabbing, cooking adventures. Thanks for your efforts in sharing.
The gravy turned out nice and thick...shoulda checked before continuing to film 😂, but the end result was great. Garlic Rabbit is a good name for this dish studying the ingredients. Keep em coming Ian. Thanks for sharing.
I guarantee you are the first to cook SC rabbits in Cuba on a Tugboat. Did you check with immigration before bringing in swap rabbits LMFAO. I grew up in SW Ga on a farm every year we planted rye grass for the cows after the crops were harvested. We hunted them with with a spot light and a Rem. nylon66 out of the back of a pickup truck and even from the hood of the car if last minute. Was may favorite hunting and every once in a while we would catch a possum or 2. If you use a pressure cooker the rabbits will be done about the same time as the rice. We also cook tree rat/squirrel the same way. Looked like fun for all but the rabbits LOL.
Great fun to see those dogs come out of their cage hehe, a good outdoor experience. After my retirement, I lived in Colombia for a few years and had the opportunity to eat rabbit. Is very good. Greetings from Argentina

Not really a video question, but do you get much for rough water running back and forth to Cuba? Or do you not run if it's too rough for fear of loosing cargo?
Rabbit hunted since I was 5 years old. If you so much as farted after that dog trailed out, Daddy slap you upside the head. That rabbit will circle back unless chased by something else.
