It's that there are millions of people releasing music all the time over all platforms constantly and these platforms have algorithms that boost trends and not originality. There's going to be so much incredible music that will not be heard because it's such a flooded market

AND they didn't give him an understandable reason! That screen shot wasn't on screen long but it seems they at least gave a reason for removing Fae Dads. Granted it's largely a BS reason when they suspend or ban people.
thats how its been for me for many years now. 15 monthly listeners for years. i only have energy for a full time job, making music and doing things that keep me and my job alive. marketing does not even fit in there.

This is super refreshing. I'm just about getting into the weeds of self promo and although I've done it before, my new approach was going to be exactly this, using all social media platforms and make engaging videos and photos. Knowing that it takes a few years to really get attention sometimes takes so much of the pressure off because when you barely get any action it always feels like your art wasn't good enough.
Holy shit. Watching this seriously just made me feel so much better about my own success (or lack thereof). What a perfect example of how impossible it is to break through the noise. Great video.

@ I have no idea what comfy synth is either. I have very eclectic tastes and I love all styles of music. Synth stuff is not really my expertise. I know dungeon synth because I love dark medieval sounding music. I guess it's impossible to know about everything. Thanks for the info and recommendations. That dog is lovely, he is a marketing material by himself !!. It was a really nice video, but it's also kind of sad at the same time. A part of my work is to find new gems and music from new artists, i am listening between 200 and 400 tracks everyday for this goal. There is a lot of good content that does not have the love it should, especially when it's about experimental and non-mainstream contents.

Really good way to show just how hard it is. Especially if you don’t have the ability to do all the promotion stuff. It can take a long time to find a way to get the people who you know would like your music to simply find it. I’ve come to the decision to just put it out there and do a small amount of promotion (severe chronic facial pain limits me quite a bit) and just be glad it’s out there. Not too long ago this was all out of reach for most of us.
This was such a fun episode! It's a cool way to share the skills musicians have to learn these days (if they want to be succesful on social media), but it was really funny too. Great job, y'all!

Thanks for making my mom laugh (once I explained the irony of FAE DADS) with the perfect timing of doing the most with the Shrek balaclava followed immediately by “where da harp?” There’s a lot of stress in my family right now so seeing her laugh really made my day.
Lesson I get from this is first and foremost, you gotta make music for yourself, because you want to make it, not because you think it will sell. There are many other ways to make a buck that are more certain pay for certain amounts of work. No guarantee that a creation will bring attention and payoff. The reward must come from within.
I love this channel. One of my daughters has a tattoo that says "Travel Lightly" and this channel moves me a step in that direction. I learn a lot too :)
This is why i just make music for myself. I still release it and pretend like im some big celebrity for a few days out of the year but its really just so my family and friends can hear what ive been working on. Best approach to music imo. If you want numbers pay someone else to do your marketing. If you want to make good music you wont have time to market yourself

Another hurdle I and many other people have is that it is hard to dedicate time for all this in addition to having a separate career and/or a family. It's rare to be in a position where you can focus a large portion of time to writing, recording, filming, and promoting on your own social accounts or Spotify (without paying for ads).
