UA-cam is having a What’s old is new again day, and your coat from a blanket comes up first on the playlist.
All wonderful projects. Favorites are the pink coat, Pansy dress, and the cardigan. Oh and the trousers.
It’s nice how you folks in the Southern Hemisphere can inspire us up north to get hopping on our winter sewing!
I liked the long-sleeved dress you said would be an everyday dress, so nice and loose!
Your trousers and quilt are my favourites!
I would be so proud of myself for any one piece that you have here! And that pink coat is EVERYTHING! But it’s a toss up between that and the quilt as my favorite.
You’re so lovely Laurie! Thank you x
I am impressed by your aesthetic style and eye for matching colors and patterns. Love it! I really like your dresses but wow those pants are stunning. Greetings from Denmark Malene
Hi I really enjoyed watching all your winter sewing outfits. Thank you so much for sharing all your beautiful clothes Designed.💕👏🏼
A quilt a year made up of all the fabrics you have used ,would be a great memory.
Love this idea!!
All of them are such great pieces but your quilt blanket is out of this world 😍
Well done, Janelle. Looking forward to your next make. Blessings ☺️
I’m Karen and you always inspire me! You are amazing ❤️.
I used to live in Noosa and Stitch Piece Loop was my favourite local shop. They have beautiful fabrics. Love the pattern, I can see a sewing project coming up!
Loved your cardigan and quilt 😍
I also get seaming knitting projects!! I stay away and only knit seamless projects in the round, definitely the way to go
I adore the first dress.
lol I feel you with the stitching panels together with yarnwork! I have the same thing while crocheting
So fun to see all your makes! Love the pansy dress, the black /white dress and the quilt !! The trousers are really nice too. Have a great week and look forward to your next video.😊
I don't really do clothes, I'm a quilter! My suggestion for your binding is to sew the raw edges together on the machine, then hand stitch the folded edge in place. It will save you some time, and the machine stitches won't be seen when you're done!
I love your quilt! It was probably best you didn't realise diamonds are not the best starting point 😂 It is beautiful ❤️
You did an amazing job on your first quilt!! I am impressed you chose a diamond pattern!
As to the binding, I agree with Jane. Machine stitch the binding edge to the quilt edge, right sides together, and then fold the binding to the back of the quilt and hand stitch the binding in place. It will look super professional and you’ll be happy with it.
You mentioned that someone suggested embroidering your name and date into the binding. I’ve never seen that done. Usually, it is done on a label. You can embroider (or make a label with your computer) and hand stitch the label to the back of the quilt. That way, your quilt remains pristine on the front.
When I make a quilt to give away, I also stitch (or print) a special message on the label for the recipient along with my name and date.
Since you love to shop at thrift stores, you might consider buying vintage quilts. Many are not very expensive and most are in good condition. I have a post on my blog that teaches you how to repair old quilts, should you find one that needs some attention.
All your creations are so lovely. I especially love your cardigan and quilt.
All beautiful makes - I love the quilt and the coat and the pants and and .....
My Sunday morning treat is to watch your videos. Thank you for sharing. Your winter wardrobe projects look great and a wonderful first quilt. Just had a thought if you are thinking of redoing the binding, it might be possible to do a section at a time, unpicking the machine stitching for perhaps a metre and then hand stitching that section. The quilt stays usable, rather than unpicking it all at once and then it possibly staying in the to do pile for a while. When I was younger I did not like hand stitching but now I quite like to relax with it.
That’s a really good tip that will make the whole process a lot less daunting! Thank you x
I have loved following you and watching these beautiful garment being made.We live in the North of England and I hate the winter time it lasts for ever.
Lovely winter makes. The get the look dress is beautiful.
To avoid having to stitch up your knitting make patterns that take circular needles. They are magic and need no sewing. Your new pattern is great. Well done
My favourite is the dress your wearing
I'm a knitter & I despise seaming! If you want to avoid it in the future, I HIGHLY recommend looking for patterns with a "contiguous set-in sleeve", knit top-down. Isabell Kraemer and Regina Moessmer are two designers who I've noticed use this method often. Top-down raglans work too. You did a great job with your seamed sweater, congrats for finding the motivation to put all the pieces together!! I have yet to knit something flat because of it.
Echoing everyone else and recommending seamless knits in the future. Ravelry has thousands of patterns including free ones. Love, love, love all your makes..... I have only just started sewing though I have been knitting for years and really want to get started on a handmade wardrobe for my later years... so thank you for all your advice, patterns and inspiration
Aww, i think quilt is really stunning. Perfect as is - please don't feel you need to restitch the binding 🥰
I love all of them!
Thanks for always inspiring me to sew!
Love your winter projects Janelle, they are all unique and so beautiful.
Thank you for sharing. Remain blessed xxx
I absolutly love the coat and the cardigan and the kilt and everything actually🤍 I love Your channel, You’re i spiration for me🌷🌷🌷 Thank You!
Aw thanks so much! That means a lot 🧡
I would wear the black and white dress with black tights, black boots and a black leather jacket for colder weather. And with black sandals for warmer days. It looks very versatile.
Beautiful! Yes, for beginner quilters, I think a pattern without sharp angles is easier to piece. Yours turned out great!
I just love the quilt that you made. I am so impressed when you try something new, it gives me confidence to follow your lead. I have saved the video for the quilt and over the winter will be sure to give it a try as well. Another great video!
You should definitely check on Petiteknit designs. It’s beginners friendly and needs no sewing because it’s worked on circular needles witch is sooooo comfortable and easy making.
I love everything you sew. I especially enjoyed the quilt this season.
Lovely! And I would Echo the comments about embroidering your name and year on it. I have only made one quilt before and it was a simple, tied one that I made in home economics, back in 1977. I love having my name and 1977 embroidered on it. It just takes me back and as every year goes by it just becomes a greater and greater treasure.
I love to see your makes. My favourites are the coat, knit vest and blanket. Love it when You go out of your comfort zone. Please con tinue on Thatcher road. I love to do that myself ☺️👍
Love your seasonal makes reviews! My favorite would have to be the quilt - it’s so stinking cute and inspiring!
I love everything here. My favourite is the ditsy floral dress, but I'm also a huge fan of the midi Pansy and your knitted cardigan. Thanks for sharing more of your beautiful work 😀🧵🪡
They are all beautiful! I love the styles and colors so much! The quilt is beautiful. My favorite I'd the gingham dress.
I’m so intimidated by sewing jackets - but you have inspired me!
I love all your projects so much, and feel so inspired every time I watch your videos!!😊💕
Aw thank you! 🧡
I love all of your makes. My favourite is the quilt just because it’s so different to what you usually make and it’s beautiful. As for knitting, I take forever too (unlike my 16 year old daughter who is a knitting machine 😂) but I’ve recently made a cardigan in the round and no sewing was needed. It’s the best way to knit!
Love your clothes!
It's so hard to choose a favourite but I think the pink coat has it!!! Great selection of projects.....looking forward to the plan for spring!! 🤣
A beautiful winter collection, Janelle. I like them all.😍
Love your makes this season 😊 The pansy dress looks fabulous, congratulations 👏
Thank you so much! I’m pretty obsessed with it 😍
As always, I love all your makes. My favourites from this video are THAT COAT, the Pansy and the Pants.. but I love them all hahaha
What a lovely collection. A capsule wardrobe. If I had to choose a favourite it would have to be two, the black and white dress and the quilt. As you don't like sewing up your knitted garments you should try knitting jumpers in the round and cardigans on a cable needle, where you knit the back and sides all in one go. You also put the stitches for the sleeves on stitch holders then knit them in the round, meaning no sewing up required. There are plenty of patterns like this on Ravelry. I hope that helps. X
I put like before watching as I'm sure - I'm on your wave and appreciate your taste
I hate seaming knits too, that’s why I only do seamless knits these days. Ravelry has heaps of seamless patterns, it’s really worth giving it a try.
I always enjoy your videos Janelle. My favourite item is the dress you are wearing hence why I jumped on your sale last weekend! Looking forward to sewing this dress up for myself.
Thanks Lisa! Have fun making it 😄
😄 I get the length of the cardigan to be completed! I made a project in September of last year and didn't finish it until I think January!
eeek! i always love seeing your videos. love your jackets especially !
Thank you!! 💕
So hard to pick a favorite because everything is really different this season. If I have to pick one , it will be the coat! Really impressed with the overall look and choice of fabric. Great collection!
Thanks lovely! 🧡
I made my first proper quilt this year too! It's so rewarding to be able to use up all the leftover fabric scraps. I actually started sewing and making my own clothes bc I stumbled on your Rosa pattern video during the first wave of the pandemic and now you've definitely gave me the courage to finally tackle making trousers this season! I love your Pansy dress as well and can't wait to make my own to wear all winter!
Aw that’s so lovely to hear! I’m so glad you’re getting into sewing and making your own clothes! x
The quantity pieces you make each season doesn't matter to me. I know how much work and quality that you put into each piece and they are all beautiful 😍
Thank you so much 😊
As an avid knitter, i almost boycott seaming things loll knitting items in the round is the way to go!! I’ll even try and revise patterns to make sure i dont seam!
This is a mood
on my monitor your gingham dress looks like brown and white checks. My colour calibration must be off, as I can't see the lilac tones at all. Thanks for sharing your makes :)
Its the same for me ..its still lovely
@@annethomson4920 yes it is 🙂
I love the cardigan as well! I also love to knit and find the moss stitch beautiful, but I never make anything with it because I hate ribbing...
Yeah it took a while to get used to, but now I feel like I’m a lot faster/better at ribbing because of this project 😄
Amazing makes as always! It’s funny, winter and fall are the only tolerable months to me. Layering weather means you can wear even MORE me-made items at one time!! 😂✨
I love the trousers you made, I'm about to cut my version out in a tan corduroy! I've never made pants with a fly zipper or all the other features so I'm really looking forward to putting it together. Your videos are so inspiring and helpful!
Have fun making your own trousers! It’s a challenge, but you will feel so proud of yourself when they are done 😄
If you’re looking for a cute knitting project I can highly recommend the trescao jumper by along avec anna (it’s even a free pattern!) because this jumper goes perfectly over dresses and is so easy to knit up 🥰
Ooh I’ll check it out! Thank you!
I just must pick the pansy dress, though I love everything! 😍
I am so anxious to make the pansy pattern! This is truly a classic dress.
Aw thank you 🧡
I'm obsessed with the pink gingham Pansy dress. I wish I could find the same or at least similar fabric. I think I'd squeak from happiness if I bump into anything similar. I'm big on pinkish tones. And I absolutely love the coat. Pure perfection 💜 tomorrow I'm using one of your first dress patterns (I think it's Rosa dress but not sure), and it's going to be pink. I may record and post it 💜
Good job you should be proud!
My sister family live in cygnet, my brother in law own a butcher shop there. Love you patchwork quilting blanket. I,m in to quilting.
I have the Emei cardigan knitted up. All I have to do is sew up the side seams, so I know what you mean with the procrastination. 😄
I’m glad I’m not the only one! x
Another great video Janelle. I have just found an Aussie made fabric company, Melco Fabrics, and they have some colours I am sure you would love. You possibly may have already seen them😏.
Winter is when I do most of my sewing. It rains almost constantly, so I don't really want to go outside. Maybe if snowed more I'd probably spend more time outside.
Such a great collection! Loved watching you make it all. I’m really wanting to try a quilt too, if diamond shape isn’t super beginner friendly what would you recommend? Thanks!
Just a simple square quilt would be a great place to start 😊
I love the pansy dress, just bought the pattern! im interested in shirring the bottom of the sleeves instead, would this be do-able do you think?
Loved this video and alllllll your creations Janelle! Question; Do you feel at all better about winter season when you've made these amaaaazing garments? :) Cheers from Sweden, getting autumny here..
The pansy dress is adorable but I can't imagine it flatters a curvy figure ☹️ I wish I could pull it off.
This is all so cute where do you get your fabrics
Tasmania is a very interesting island. Where do you live on that big island? I love looking for towns on Google map, but can’t find any. 💕
❤❤❤
Like you I hate stitching up the knitted clothes, try to update my knitting projects with no seam techniques
Everything is amazing I wish I could sew like you. How many years have you been sewing?
Thank you 🧡 I’ve been sewing my own clothes for nearly 15 years now 😊
Hi, can I ask where do you buy the necklace? Thanks
It’s by Kirsten Ash 😊
Sewing knitted garments together is the worst. I need to unpick and resew a cardy i made.
The lilac in the pansy dress does not show up in this video. The colour of this dress looks white and brown somehow.
I love the pink coat. I live near Chicago and our winters are killer. It looks perfect for long autumn walks. I don’t know how warm it’d be for -20F weather but maybe piling on the clothing layers?
