  • @HyperRushPlayz

    Even though the 350 is tuning it’s too weak and the arrow is absorbing energy thru flexing. Therefore you’re getting more efficiency from the 300 spine and that’s why speed is funky. I’d say the reason youre able to tune at all is because the UV arrows are able to rebound quickly. I’d be curious to watch the two out of the bow with a high speed camera. (Ignore username, son wants to make UA-cam videos 😂)

      Took the words right out of my mouth! The stiffer spine is going to travel better because it’s stronger and won’t be forced to travel in a flexed state

    • @michaelbushey2787
      @michaelbushey2787 8 днів тому +1

      Came here to say that too. I was thinking the energy from the rs is much more because of the compact nature of it all. I didnt think about the spines until after and then saw your comment. I'm sure that's what's going on.

    Going to my local shop this Saturday to shoot the X 29.5. I shot the RS a couple times and really liked it. I keep going back and forth!

    • @nicholaskonze3506

      Ended up going with the 29.5". I'm a 29" draw so I'd be maxed out on the RS. Man I liked that RS though. I hunt whitetail in WI but want to do more 3D. Upgraded from the 20+ year old Q2 so I think I'm going to be happy either way.

    Maybe spine is that important for arrow efficiency?? Those results are very interesting. +20 grains with the same velocity is a huge kinetic energy jump.

    Well crud. Made an order. Hope to win. Haven’t got my order and didn’t win. Hahah. That’s awesome congrats to the winner. I hope that Mathews picks me for a back up to the proving ground. I have faith. It will happen. Thanks for what you’re doing for the community. Keep up the great work friend. Good ole boy videos. Coming soon. ;) proving ground. General public land hunts coming soon. Poor broke boy with Mathews bows. Hahah. Yeah I’m in next year. I will have mine in early as well. ;)

    I bet at 20 yards the 350’s are faster. I have some grizzly sticks that are faster at 20,30,40,50 than off the riser. Lots of energy lost in flex.

    I know it isn't exactly the same comparison as the 29.5 vs 33; but I really didn't notice a big difference carrying my lift 33 through the woods, pulling into the tree, etc. vs my old 31.5" ATA bow. The 33" ATA didn't seem to get in the way. I'm not a long draw length guy either...I just liked the feel of the longer riser.
    Also, why not take both the RS and the 29.5 to Texas? Always good to have a backup!

  • @dustinromine3085

    So was curious, will you do a video with a Mathews lift x 29.5 Wanna see the comparison between 70 and 80lbs limbs. 70lbs maxed out draw weight and speed compared to 80lb limbs backed off draw weight and speed. Or if you’ve already done a video like that with a different bow? Getting ready to buy the new lift x and wanna go 80lbs limbs possibly but be neat to see if and how big of a difference there is between the two limbs with draw weight, speed, or anything else. Thank you Chris, keep up the great content sir

    • @AkiDarkWolf
      @AkiDarkWolf 7 днів тому

      That’s because measuring equipment usually is very sensitive. A lot of error comes from having it setup / using it incorrectly.
      It’s not designed to be used in a closed room, because of the occurring reflections. I have the Garmin myself and the difference between indoors and outdoors is incredible. The most deviation I get outdoors is 0.5 FPS. Indoors it can be up to 5 FPS, when it’s a tight space.

    Small buck shooters, man I hate this state!!

  • @Ws_minion
    @Ws_minion 8 днів тому +1

    300fps is probably equivalent to how fast the limbs/string can move and return to their resting state. Probably want to keep adding weight to the arrow until you see the speed start to dip a little, so you're getting the most efficiency.
    You can also just quickly calculate out the energy the arrow has to work out what weight is giving you the most energy (e=1/2 mv^2) but you also need to remember that although speed has a higher effect on kinetic energy than mass, the more mass the projectile has, the better it will retain its energy over distance due to being less effected by drag. So whilst a screaming fast lightweight arrow might have more energy on release, a heavier arrow is far more able to retain that energy out at distance.

    • @Ws_minion
      @Ws_minion 8 днів тому

      I wouldnt be surprised if your garmin can tell you the speed of the arrow at 50/60/70m etc which would be very interesting to see how different weight arrows perform out of the same bow

    350 spine is to weak (flimsy) for 80lbs Chris. My apologies. Lemme rephrase. 350 is just losing a bit more energy than 300 or 250 cuz it's flexing a bunch more compared to the others.
    While flexing too much. It's losing energy an therefore losing speed.
    Depending on you're arrow length 300 spine seems better to me an a 250 spine at 80 lbs if you're arrows more than 30 inches.
    Stiffer shaft won't flex as much so it'll loses less energy an cruses slightly faster than the 350 because it's recovering faster.
    I Was stumped when i found this out about 20 years ago an i tinkerd an tested until I understood why the Stiffer an even heavier shaft was faster.
    Although once that 350 recovers an stops flexing a bit down range it picked up some speed down speed an was just a little faster than the heavier arrow.
    I did the speed testing at 1 yard. Then 10 yards, then 20 an then 30 shot through a chronograph..

      @jwild5360 9 днів тому

      @ nobody said you couldn’t do it saying it’s “best” for a 30 inch draw to be shooting a 29 inch bow is absurd or even recommending it.
      It’s like me looking at a 6 foot 265 pound man and recommending he wears a medium shirt. It’s stupidity. He’s never been at the top of the technical side of archery so I’m not surprised. Hes actually not all that knowledgeable about it. He has a platform that doesn’t mean he’s got knowledge.

    • @noahzander3344
      @noahzander3344 9 днів тому

      @@jwild5360 yeah, not even a close comparison. The ATA isn’t the only concern. When in full draw the lift x cams where the string comes out are farther apart than most people think. Making the string angle very comfortable; yes, even at 30 inch draw. I can promise you this isn’t a bow from even 6 years ago where the ATA was the only thing people looked at for good shooting bows. This is my 4th bow and 4th bow company, first time with Mathews, and honestly it would take a lot from other companies to make me want to switch from Mathews going forward. I think you just don’t like Mathews.

    • @jwild5360
      @jwild5360 8 днів тому

      @ lol you have no clue what your talking about. The string angle is horrible bc the limbs flex so much. The cam height has very little to do with string angle. Limbs tip flex and cam angle determines string angle.
      I have every string angle measure from every flagship over the last 10 years. You simply are incorrect.
