Yep , why does the digital version even exist... most people today have a slow asf internet connection to download those (huge) games that are over 40-100GB.

I have the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X with Dolby vision and seriously guys other than load speeds and FPS at this moment in time with the lack of games I'm not investing in next gen for at least 12 months. It's a luxury I can't afford.

Sorry to sound stupid. Why doesn't the movie play in UHD? Is HDR better than UHD or the same? I was under the impression HDR was less quality. Thanks mate. Im running a similar set up. LG C9 > PS5 > Sonos Arc.

Fun fact. I’ve recently upgraded my home theatre to a 65 inch CX OLED and a Dolby Atmos LG sound bar and subwoofer tuned by meridian. All in preparation for the PS5. I actually played my “Joker” blu-ray in my OG PS4 and my sound bar switched to Dolby Atmos. Meaning the original PS4 actually supports Atmos.

@metthewr1990 PS4 doesn't support it, it just bitstreams the audio so your AV does the decoding. Now, put your PS4 to PCM stream, see what happens. 😏

Dolby Vision will probably come later either in a firmware update or an optional one off payment as the license would probably cost Sony around £5 per unit.

Dolby Vision can be added through an firmware update for sure. It happened like this on my LG B6 OLED back in the days. No hardware upgrade needed

They can t add it with an update. The blu ray doesn not have the needed chip in order to process the Dolby Vision color format
The problem I am having is that this is the 3rd generation with Bluray support and Sony still didn't add the codecs for DTS-HD MA/DTS-X/Dolby TruHD/Dolby Atmos to the system. It doesn't decode through a receiver. You only get Multi-Channel output. If you set it to Bitstream it downgrades it to DTS Surround or standard Dolby Digital.
Also, I'm jealous of the Oppo you have. Sucks they stopped making 4k Players. Now they are being scalped for $1500-$3000.
Putting the PS5 to bitstream in the media player allows the PS5 (as well as the PS4 and even the PS3 before it) to pass decoding duties to the AV receiver (where you should want to be decoding audio in the first place). I get full 7.2.4 Dolby Atmos in my theater from my PS5 (as well as the older ones) when setup properly and connected to my Denon AVR X6500H. Linear PCM does NOT pass Atmos, you must use Bitstream

Put the stand that came with it on. It comes with a screw included. Horizontally, it of course doesn't require the screw. You put it where the PlayStation symbols are etched at on the side of system.

This is really strange but I just put a ultra HD blu ray 4k disc in the PlayStation 5 and it simply will not read the disc. Any suggestions?
I'm assuming it plays 3D blurays as well. Alita was meant to be seen in 3D since it was actually filmed that way and it looks spectacular! Many of the Marvel movies have about 26-28 minutes of IMAX footage only on the 3D blurays which you can only order from the UK and other parts of Europe. They look beyond stunning. Many people are missing out big time!! Good thing Optoma and VaVa make 4K 3D ultra short throw projectors because TV's are not an option for me now since they've abandoned the 3D format.

3D needs to make a comeback with TVs and streaming but in a new advanced form that’s glasses free, with a wide sweet spot and doesn’t compromise picture quality in any way.
A 77” QD-OLED with real world depth perception would be awesome, but alas, movies are still flat and stuck in the Stone Age.

Finally someone using a Blu-ray Disc on ps5 no one else has uploaded this yet. I like that ps5 shows the art work for the disc I hate that Xbox series x doesn’t do this. Also if you are on the games tab and load a blu-ray does it kick you onto the media tab 🤔. Edit never mind you did this with the 2nd movie you played. 👍🏻 nice vid very informative.
No worries, I've had other home theater friends ask me cause they're heading Atmos works on PS5 but not realizing it's not in games. We'll wait to buy until they fix it, if ever

You said it is showing Dolby vision but I think you meant to say Dolby Atmos. At 6:46 where you said it. So, on the player settings you did change it from PCM to bit stream? I'm thinking you must have for it to display the Dolby true HD.

I have a random question, when i get the ps5 can i put it on my Yamaha rx-v485 which supports 4k so i can have a 5.1 surround or is it better to connect it directly to the tv. Another question, if i connect my amp to the earc on the tv does it give me 5.1 surround? And if i for example connect my ps5 to tv does it come out from the speakers of the tv or if i want from my speakers 5.1?
Hey man, I liked your video, but 2 tips for you. First of all, the movie is called Skyscraper, its said like, GRAPE, not WRAP. Second of all and most important, please dont use your PS5 upright like that without the stand provided. It is not just for airflow, it is also for stability and without the stand, it can slide right off your desk and smash on the floor. I know you bought it yourself and I wouldn't what it to end in tears. That is all, thanks for the video!
Oh and one extra tip. When you are showing clips on your C10, turn the light off behind you, it reflects onto the screen and OLEDs look so nice with its deep blacks, it is not showing the TV off in all its glory!

It won’t get ever Dolby vision for blu rays ; that needs hardware for that; the software version I would think will come in a patch for Netflix and Amazon etc.

@@rainbowthrustars money. Or rather the saving of it. I mean look at the barebones features that aren’t in from the start. Look at the packaging compared to series x. The packaging does not feel like a 500 dollar product. Cheap construction. Coil whine issues apparently. But that could be something on both sides that rears it’s head. But thats not to say it’s not great it’s just clear they had to sacrifice a lot to get the cost down. Microsoft clearly felt they could afford more. I mean as far as I am aware there’s no usb c cable to charge the controller? I could be wrong on that. I don’t have one in my hands yet.

No it's not a $400 or $500 Bluray player, it's a $400 or $500 gaming console that allows you to play Bluray movies. If you want the best Bluray experience then get a Bluray player. Sony add this as just a bonus not a major feature as this console is meant for gaming mostly.

If you guys buy a CX. Dont uodate it! The best firmware without any issues is firmware 03.00.70! You can use the standard 2.1 vrr, and have dolby content on 50 brightness. Just a heads up for new users. New video on my gaming channel soon!

Just started playing a 4K UHD Blu Ray movie (1917). When playing the movie the picture mode is still set on Game Mode. Do I have to change the picture mode manually to Cinema Home or Filmmaker Mode every time I'm playing a 4K UHD Blu- Ray movie?

It has Dolby atmos but It doesnt do Dolby Vision. I have LG CX,Sony A8H and the Sony 930e and all 3 TVs have Dolby Vision but the PS5 doesnt support it now. The same setting on the controller got me at first but I figured it out.

Only Dolby Atmos, both Xbox and PS5 don't have hardware to decode Dolby Vision. But Xbox has Software version which can support Dolby Vision only for games and Netflix apps not for UHD disc .

I know I bought the same and it has more settings then I have ever seen or anyone else for that matter there are settings most don't even find like the ones where you can individually changes about 10-20 aspects of every color of the pallat
I want to learn how to professionally tune it because they charge way too much to do it
If you don't know how to calibrate, use the filmmaker mode for movies. That mode should be generally close to calibration levels and is like a precalibrated preset value from LG.

You're welcome. If you do not have a display which is capable of doing Dolby Vision then PS5 is good deal as it can do hdr10 and Atmos , otherwise x800m2.

What i want to know is, what exactly is improved with the PS5's Blu-ray player vs the PS4 Pro's?
One thing is for sure, Sreaming movies and the like look nowhere near as sharp through my PS4 Pro compared to my LG C1 OLED's internal streaming apps...I wonder if this applies to the PS5 as well.
I'm skipping the Panny Blu-ray. It doesn't have Audio Via USB. I'm using a pair of Beyer Headphones and a DAC which supports 2.0 USB Audio. PS5 supports it, so I'm rolling with that.

Quality is almost equal to sony x800M2 bluray player also the menu options are similar.

48" is good if you are about 3 to 4 feet away from the TV. I love it and love the colors and contrast on this way better than any other TV. (I have samsung QLED 8K TV) but I play games on OLED, even though people would say "what about burn in"? yes who knows I am here tomorrow. Live life today! OLED has come down to a price that we should not be worries about Burn in, I have been using OLED for last 4 years OLED E6, did over 5000 hours of gaming on that and still working without burn in. Actually I am doing a video on that right now to test 3D Bluray on XBox Series X and PS5. That is the last 3D model OLED from LG.

Crazy and out of place question but from what you’ve seen, does the ps5 seem to improve the detail in 4K movies?? I have one and was watching the new Mulan movie in 4K through my ps5 and was like holy shit this looks really good. The visuals in mulan are already beautiful but it just seemed to pop more with the colors and sharpness. Am I just tripping or has anyone notice a similar experience?

@@MyGadgetsWorld yes I have 55in 4K tv. I was really impressed. I’ve never really used my consoles much for movies but I may have to start with the ps5. I felt like I was in the movie theater watching it. This console so far has been awesome.
Tech has advanced so much, so as the upscaling

It's strange for Sony - not to support Dolby Vision because they release discs with DV movies.

Dolby Atmos is so 3-4 years ago...I don’t mean to hate or anything...
But got famous for home theater in 2018 and specially now since theaters are closed
