THANK YOU , THANK YOU , THANK YOU !!!! This is the way a video for setup should be done !!! Your information is PRICELESS !!!! Things like the stress you put on those HEAVY Dsub cables and the dangers of breaking the D sub connectors. I can't THANK YOU enough for this information. Also, the expense of cables . Most people don't realize how much cables cost and the importance of buying HIGH QUALITY CABLES and wasting money on cheap cables . This is a video that SSL should PAY YOU to put on their own website !!!!
Hello Again Everyone... Thanks to all of you who are reaching out to me... The response has been GREAT! Keep those questions coming either here or via email... Let me know the next topic youi would like to learn about featuring the SSL Origin!
Thanks so much for sharing your information. This will be a huge benefit for me. One thing that I was concerned about was the amount of DSub connectors I would need to utilize all aspects of the origin.

Hello Damica, Sorry for the delay in getting back to you... Give me a call or send me your email and I will reply with a more detailed message after we have a chance to discuss your project...
Good video! But where did you buy the console from? When they came out they were 48k. Then 50k. Now Sweetwater wants 60. Seems like I’m gonna need that extra money for cables... I had no idea... lol
Do you know if there are any third party automation installations? I don’t need recall but moving faders and mutes. I am thinking about replacing my Trident 80B which has Uptown Moving Faders. I also still use my Sony JH 24 Tape Machine as well as ProTools HD 8 with three 192 I/O’s. Thanks for any info you might have.
Hello… I use the SSL UC-1 with my console and the associated SSL360 software… this gets you EQ, Comporession, and other features for every channel that are stored and recallable… check out UA-cam for use and features. The system works beautifully and sounds FANTASTIC
@@foresthillstudio it can’t control Sony JH 24 so I don’t understand what you are referring to be controlled. Just to be clear I am an analog studio. Currently I have Trident 80B with Uptown moving faders and my tape machine is Sony JH 24 two inch analog recorder. I do have ProTools HD 8 running on a MACPRO 4,1 iOS 10.6.8. with three 192’s A/D D/A converters and Sync i/o to sync 24 track tape machine and moving faders with ProTools HD 8. I cannot use any Mac iOS later than 10.6.8 on my Mac Pro or PROTOOLS HD 8 will not run. Sorry lengthy response. But I wasn’t sure I was clear that I am not a hybrid studio or in the box.
@ thank you very much. I’ve look at the manual, but it didn’t seem clear to me. I’m trying to avoid hooking up patchbay to the MicInputs as I’m not recording any mics on the console. Only input to the console is from DAW/outboard. But I wanna hit the preamp just as if it were a mic signal
@@HaHaDK The returns from the DAW or Outboard CAN be connected to the LINE inputs... (you want to use LINE in cuz they are LINE level signals) If your DAW/Outboard stuff is currently hooked up to the MONITOR inputs on the channel, I see no way to get them routed from the MONITOR INS to the to the CHANNEL INPUTS
@@HaHaDK IF it was me.... Id get a D-Sub to TRS snake and a cheap TRS patchbay... Then you could decide to run the DAW returns to MONITOR INPUTS or CHANNEL PREAMP INPUTS
@ right, got it. I’m in pursuit of buying a 32ch. Trying to figure out how many patchbays to buy/hook up. I’ve already got one 96TT for all my gear. Only using up to half of the bays. But I also gotta buy more Apollo 16’s. Damn, it’s getting expensive this SSL fetish 😂
Setting the Console Up to work with Any Daw Involves connecting the Console to your interface... Both inputs and Outputs... I use the console direct outs or short faders to Feed the DAW Inputs via the interface and I Use The Long Faders To Monitor Signals from the Interface DAW Outputs... Within the DAW you can then route any Console Channel for recording and then "monitor" any channel during hybrid mixing... Hope This Helps...
Hey there Shallow… yes it is a lot of money for a cable…. But considering the value of my time I can do a lot better making records instead of making cables… and because I’m NOT a great solderer buying commercial ones saved me both time and a lot of reliability headaches.
Thanks for watching.... Please LIKE and SUBSCRIBE. Sorry about the noisy audio here and there.
Even though I’m not in the market for a console, I still really enjoyed all the info in this video. Nicely done!
Spot on about the cabling, very easy to overlook the cost.

This is crazy awesome thorough. Thanks for sharing all this info. Thoughts on using a Flock digital patch bay with this?
I don't know about the Flock... but anything that patches in and out would work... you would need a BUNCH of them though for all the I/O....
What great style and content. So excellent and helpful - for general reference.
Glad you found it helpful and interesting!
