"Just Dance" was the first song they ever put up on youtube back in 2010, and this particular performance was from a Swedish tv show (that I can't for the life of me remember the name of). When they play live they always have a backup keyboard player, so that Jonah don't have to do everything by himself and also can get out from behind the keyboard when singing. The extra keyboard player is a hired session musician, but almost always some long-time friend of theirs. Most often it's a guy named Kristian Kraftling, but in this particular case it's Simon Petrén, who's also the guy who helps them with mastering, mixing and that kind of stuff (and has since the beginning). They also use some backing tracks when they play live. Mainly for things like layered backing vocals and that kind of stuff, but sometimes also for things like changing the sound of the bass, so Henrik doesn't have to fiddle with pedals in the middle of solos.
Didn’t know that was Simon Petrén on backing keys. Nice fun fact, thanks! To me he feels like their forth invisible member because of his deep involvement in the band and their sound through mixing and mastering.
To add to your all-encompassing knowledge of Dirty Loops trivia, seems like Kristian (or, oh, maybe it's Simon!) has recently started to do most of the vocal layering himself using a polyphonic vocoder / harmonizer effect! Check out the latest live video from JazzBaltica.
@@MrSlimfinger Yeah, they had something about that on their instagram stories earlier this year, and said something about making Kristian’s life even harder by forcing him to learn all their lyrics. 😂
Love the reaction! Is this your first reaction of one of their live gigs? As far as I know they always have that extra guy for the background vocals and background keyboard stuff. At least they had that on the show I was at this summer.
Great live performance I think! 🙂Can’t see for sure who it is on keys and vocal, but nowadays Kristian Kraftling is the one performing live with them. Great musician! Maybe it is him here too. This is from a Swedish Tv-programme where Swedish musicians met and played and I would say DL gave the audience more music than they were used to 😁 And that woman and dog..! 🤣
Har du hört Kristian Kraftling i andra sammanhang? Ruggigt bra. Han har spelat en hel del med Jonathan Lundberg och spelar på ett antal av låtarna på hans album ("Iterations" och "Nebula"). Han spelar även på ett antal av spåren på Linder Bros platta. Svinbra jazz fusion-pianist.
As someone who's been completely spoiled by Dirty Loops' insane musical perfection, I'm surprised and delighted to see this video, which is a great example of the fact that these guys are the real deal, and can do mind-numbing live performances of their catalog. The other keyboardist/vocalist is a guy (Ekstead?) who is on pretty much everything they do - check the credits of other videos. And then there's the 5th Dirty Loop, Simon Petrén (sp?) who produces much of their music as well as is involved in the filming and editing, and more. So THANKS for this!
The backup keyboard player is none other than Simon Petrén in this case (most often it’s Kristian Kraftling though). Andreas Ekstedt is the guy they usually hire to do percussion on their recordings. ☺️
This was likely a big event for them at the time! Any deviation from “normal” might depend on that and perhaps some wish from the TV producer to move a bit into the “normal”? Just guessing. Still, it sounds really good to me now! Really like it! Your reaction as well!

Just to check that I understand you correctly: you’re saying that not commenting on harmonies means I am an unable to play musical instruments? It seems like that’s the conclusion you’re drawing here. I’m not sure that makes sense my friend.
@@steveogreact Fair point. At least you are reacting to great music. Not sure you are really hearing it all...Their reharms are cool as fuxk.... but still ,,,glad you are promoting worthy cats
This and "Circus" are probably my least favorite covers of theirs. The instrumentation is great. Awesome musicality. The bass was bangin'. But that vocal just got cat-scratchy to me after while. He can do too much sometimes.

The programme was called ”Moraeus med mera” 🙂

They are just so incredibly tight it is ludicrous! Your small yelps really made this reaction. I did the same thing!
Haha glad I’m not the only one yelping 😅
That drummer!! Love Dirty Loops. Thanks a lot for introducing them, Steve❤
My pleasure!
This is pretty insane.
Haha! I love your reactions so much! That solo was fire.
Heheh indeed! Thanks Tara!
I equally enjoy: your reaction, their excellence, the sound of silence from people who think it’s all fake and ”engineered”. Mic drop. 😁🎤
It's amazing just how aware you become of Hendrik's presence even when he's just doing the supporting bits in the background. Loved this!

Thanks, Steve. Nice to revisit that old DL tune. 👍 Here's a better live version from last year. ua-cam.com/video/MCa5XZbu3V0/v-deo.html
It says 559 subscribers. That can’t be right, can it? Did UA-cam mess up?

When the cover is better than the original.
Great reactions! Please do Dirty Loops cover song "Undo". Thanks!
Coming up tomorrow in fact!
best life vocal i heard of him... his breath support at certain live performances has not been at this level which is understandable.
I highly recommend you check out Ren. Blowing my mind. A good place to start it Hi Ren. Seriously.
