    What a looker. Those alloys and front air intake make it special.

    We have, and really love this car. It's ashame that any support for the GPS and infotainment system has been dropped...

    I owned a 2010 Insignia VXR and I loved it. Looks like the infotainment has come a long way in the later models. It looks good and feels great to drive. I had mine remapped to give more torque lower in the rev range and it made such a difference. It doesn't get into its stride until about 70mph+, that's when you really feel it. It's comfy to drive on long distances but the main downside is costs. It's not too economical on fuel and replacing parts is shockingly pricey.
    If I was in the market to replace my daily and fun car with a single all rounder, one of these would certainly be on the list if I could not afford an M3. I have a video of me lapping the Nurburgring in 9:08 on my channel. That's pretty quick for a car like this in the hands of an amateur driver.

      Thanks for the reply :) I don't have the car anymore, I now have a Nismo 370Z for fun and a 3 series BMW for my daily.
      The inisignia VXR is capable of doing what you describe I think. Mine had 405lbs of torque at about 5k rpm so as long as you are in the right gear it can certainly overtake.
      Our max speed allowed in the UK is 70mph so not too different to yours :)

    What would you recommend? Astra J vxr or Insignia A vxr? :)

    At least we're now going to be getting European inspired cars with the tech and spec to meet most people's expectation and all for a reasonable price, but......1800kg and a confused gear box doesn't look good for lovers of driving.
    I imagine a bit of focus and money by (perhaps) someone like an HSV could sort it to really be a top performance vehicle. You didn't mention the AWD much so I'm guessing this is possibly not well sorted and will take time to improve to be as good as others available now?.
    Another great review.... I'd like to see you you do a walk around of the car before starting out on the drive.

      +Paul Taylor Yeah I'm still skeptical as to what car/model I'm going to buy after the Commodore dies. This looks like a great car granted, but would love the work of some performance spec upgrades. And less nonchalant styling to suit.

      You will be pleased to know that the new Opel Insignia has lost some fat. I think it is 150 kgs lighter?

      Yeah Opel Australia did really well against Japanese & Korean brands, what was it ? 9 months to close up shop.

    You could get a manaro vxr for the price of an insignia vxr. Or even maybe an ls2 vxr8, probably high on the miles, but as good as the insignia vxr is it’s in a lower class. A v6 turbo is never going to replace a 6.0 v8. No way..

    I like it... but...
    I'd take a Commodore over this, particularly a SS Redline. I realize there's a slim chance to none but I've always thought since the announcement of the imminent demise of the Commodore GM should produce right hand drive Cadillac's and import them around the world along with the new Camaro and Corvette

    I love you Aussies!!!. You made a Buick Regal Grand National. A v6 Muscle Car that hasn't been produced in the states in 30 years. Same lines as the new regal. Even the same rims. This is why people can't stand the states.

  • @aspiringaspie3280

    Nope. the next Commodore is going to be USA based!

    • @1969cmp
      @1969cmp 6 років тому

      Aspiring Aspie So it is coming from Germany. Perhaps later it will either be a US Chev or a 'Pug' 508.
      But until then, it's Opel.

  • @davidwall4448

    You can't compare this VXR to a SSV Redline. The Aussie made car is way better!

  • @pontiacGXPfan
    @pontiacGXPfan 8 років тому

    This car is shit. A mediocre Opel in Germany means an overpriced, underwhelming Buick here and a mediocre Holden in Australia

    • @pontiacGXPfan

      It will still be FWD, and it's not gonna be a legitimate substitute for the Commodore
