This happened to me just the other day! I was playing on a soldier jump map as engineer, as I do, and all of a sudden, my sentry's range ball thing just showed up. I have no idea how or what I did, but it eventually just went back to normal.
I’m surprised you didn’t try to have more than one at the same time. It might’ve been really funny to have a blu and red on the same map.

I really like the fact that others can see what the engi sees, someone needs to make this into a mod.
Maybe not the blue sphere but at least the blueprints.
Finally a way to cause this bug in vanilla TF2.
First the flying sappers, now the building radius sphere.
Engineers can sure make some good exploits.😂
