Lyrics:
Baby's into running around
Hanging with the crowd
Putting your business in the street
Talking out loud
Saying you bought her this and that
And how much you done spent
I swear she must believe it's all heaven sent
Hey boy you better bring the chick around
To the sad, sad truth the dirty lowdown
Taught her how to talk like that
(Ooh I wonder, wonder, wonder, wonder who)
Gave her that big idea
Nothin' you can't handle
Nothin' you ain't got
Put your money on the table
And drive it off the lot
Turn on that old love light
And turn a "maybe" to a "yes"
Same old schoolboy game got you into this mess
Hey son, better get back on to town
Face the sad old truth, the dirty lowdown
Put those ideas in your head
(Ooh I wonder, wonder, wonder, wonder who)
Yeah
Come on back down, little son
Dig the low, low, low, low, lowdown!
You ain't got to be so bad, got to be so cold
This dog eat dog existence sure is getting old
Got to have a Jones for this
Jones for that
This runnin' with the Joneses, boy, just ain't where it's at, no, no
You gonna come back around
To the sad, sad truth, the dirty lowdown
Got you thinking like that, boy
(Ooh I wonder, wonder, wonder, wonder who)
I wonder, wonder, wonder, wonder who
Said I wonder, wonder, wonder, I wonder who
Oh, look out for that lowdown (ohh, I wonder, wonder, wonder, wonder who)
That dirty, dirty, dirty, dirty lowdown
Ooh I wonder, wonder, wonder, wonder who
Ooh I wonder, wonder, wonder, wonder who
Got you thinkin' like that
Got you thinkin' just like that
(Ooh I wonder, wonder, wonder, wonder who)
Lookin' that girl in the face is so sad
I'm ashamed of you
I wonder, wonder, wonder, wonder who
#BozScaggs #RockAndRoll #SilkDegrees
Boz, Paich, Porcaro brothers, Carolyn Willis, Les Dudek…all-star band right there
Don't forget Louie Shelton.
Jeff Porcaro was a pure beast on the drums, RIP.
Absolutely…
🙏
Agree!!
Just couldn't have said it better!!!
Just the Way he performed on that Track 🎵 👣 👣 👣 🎶
IMPECCABLE!!!
Definitely
This song never gets old. A certified timeless classic. Thank you, Boz Scaggs.
Boz has always been generous giving his band members and back up singers their spotlight in all his concerts. A sheer gentleman.
Exactly my dear great point out
It's true¡¡¡
The blackest, whitest Dude I know---the koolest cool---The Boz! Love The Boz and always will---The Dirty Lowdown!!!

Happy Birthday, sir!
80 yrs old today and still as relevant as ever. I am lucky to be alive in your lifetime. Thank you for the music.
Why isn't Boz Scaggs more of an icon? Amazing song writer, musician and such a voice.
he is in certain circles. just only had 3-4 years of high visibility. too funky and jazzy for some. i love his music myself.
Guessing, too Soulful (voice) for pop and not R&B enough for Soul. But he did win an R&B Grammy back-n-the-day for LowDown. His hits after that were more pop than (LowDown) Soul. That and he refused to have LowDown on the "Saturday Night Fever" Soundtrack. He allowed it on some other movie that didn't make a $.05:) If he'd allowed LD to be on Saturday Night Fever, would he be more revered, probably by others but not by me. And I love the movie and soundtrack.
@@markjackson6134 That other movie was "Looking for Mr. Goodbar." Neither Boz nor his people thought a movie about some disco dancer would have any impact. Oops.
I think taking a long hiatus for most of the '80s also didn't help.
@@BingBangByedidn't that movie have rape or murder in it? Oh ya..the girl stabbing the guy or him stabbing her
Jeff Porcaro so young when he played drums for Boz Scaggs and yet he was already a master.
Jeff Porcaro is killing it...damn!! What a grooving drummer gone way too soon.
He really was amazing.
You know the drummer is something special when you can't help but focus on his part in a great song.
Never Get Tired of Listening to This One Masterpiece, Work of Art by Paich, Porcaro & Scaggs!❤🎉😊
Great Band, the Porcaro Brothers and the incomparable Les Dudek on lead guitar!
I was Today old (57) when I realized this was not a Black man responsible for this song. Holy shit, I'm floored.
66 years old, I remember when it came out, 1976 one of my favorites
LOVE how the song suddenly kicks into overdrive at 4:35 and everyone looks like they're having a great time!
I was, and still am, a HUGE Boz fan. I used to listen to his albums over, and over, and over. Just couldn't get enough. Just got a reminder about his music , so decided to take a trip down memory lane here tonight. I STILL love this guy!!
Pop music today is nowhere as good as this!!! Real music played by real musicians!! 2020....You’ve driven me into the arms of the 70’s!!!
This is so good, it hurts.
And mad props to the backup singers in those evening gowns.
So classy back in the day.
They on the recording
Playing in bands during this era was special. Beautiful music.
BOZ is the coolest man on two feet , singing street slang before it was so hip to do. I wonder who taught him how to talk like that yeah I wonder wonder wonder whoooooo !!!!!!
Street slang or "Black english" was always hip...and was on records before Boz.
@Paul Brownsville, Brooklyn here. Black style and vernacular is always copied. I have nothing to prove. Study history and take a look around.
The word is called "cooptation". Or in other words..."Columbus-ing."
@Paul So Black jazz artists never came to Greenwich Village and L.E.S? Black poets and writers like Leroi Jones who later became Amiri Baraka, never performed and hung out in those places, and impacted those areas with their styles. Being 'hip' was and still is infected by Blackness.
@Paul So you speak the way you speak by osmosis? No cultural influences impacted you whatsoever? It just sorta..."happened".
The Porcaro Brothers! RIP Jeff. RiIP Mike. Love Steve on the keyboard
Jeff Porcaro.... Les Dudek.... Boz.... these were great times!!!
Jeff's hi hat is incomparable...!!
One of the best live musicians. Great choir with three pretty women. A unique orchestra. Such wonderful music does not exist anymore today. I'm proud, I was still able to experience it!
Happy Birthday to the Master. Listened to his music my whole adult life.
Im in awww. I just adore this music. I remember hearing it in the 70's but I thought the singer was African American. I just recently heard it again on the radio and it took me back to my childhood. I give much thanks and appreciation to Mr. Boz Scaggs for bringing such a timeless classic to us to enjoy. I hope he is doing well. Every time I play this master piece I have to keep repeat it over and over again.
Love his music. I was 3 in 77'. Handsome too. Very talented as well, his music was played in my home often
Love seeing the (self-depracating) humor at the beginning of this video!
Jeff plays like a drum machine with a human touch, incredible
Such a memorable song . Where did all the beautiful music go ? Please bring it back , God❤🙏🏼
The rotten and corrupt music industry won't ever allow music of this caliber become mainstream ever again!
Happy belated birthday Boz........ Cheers 🥂
Boz, we love you - you didn't only define an era, you transcended it completely! You are absolutely amazing....thank you!
omg 1977 this hit will never die, Boz!
Boy, does this bring back memories and they seem so fresh! Amazing time in our history. Never again will people see this or relate and understand exactly how fantastic life was back then.... actual musical talent that is not repeated and don't seem to be ever going to be! Greatest time EVER to be in your twenties and single, the night life was something people can't comprehend or ever experience, so sad....I count myself extremely lucky to live in this time period because it's absolutely NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN, NOTHING REMOTELY CLOSE.
I have watched a different version of this video a hundred times. This version is amazing. The beginning is so funny but silly. I just love Boz..
The Great Boz Scaggs !!!!!
I'm on a learning curve
I thought boz scaggs was black
Unusual voice and delivery
I like it I like it a lot !
As amazing as ever !!!! BOZ SCAGGS !!!
I can never get enough of Boz and Jeff Porcaro!!
Gee i wish I had a time machine 💋
The delightful Yankee/Aussie Vanetta Fields on backing vocals in the middle. One of the best & most respected backing vocalist in the business. Is adored in Australia & has sung backing vocals for everyone that is anyone for many years.
When I was a youngster thought this was a soul brother but he has our black 👸🏽on the background for that pure soul 💪🏾can you dig it
Love this live version. So great.
Jeff was a gift on Drum kit.
Ladies & Gentlemen, the peerless Jeff Porcaro.
Hell yeah, one of the best
God gave Jeff the gift of groove. Then Jeff and God elevated the gift.
Michael and Steve are in the video as well.
He’s one of the best but I can still think of a few peers
word
In 1977 I enlisted in the US Navy and after bootcamp I attended the Armed Forces school of music. This song was played on a regular rotation amongst other songs on this album! I am a drummer and Jeff Porcaro is definitely one of my favorites!! RIP
this is my first time watching this and i got goosebumps the moment i heard the drums. i knew instantly that it was jeff porcaro playing. his brothers mike and steve - on bass and keybords respectively - were damn great. rip jeff and mike, god bless steve.
I’m here to see the groove master Jeff porcaro
I’m late to the party .... new fan here. This music is pure joy. I’m enjoying these masterpieces in August 2020.
Great smile Carolyn 😉
Same story here... Love this music so much...
I was a kid in the 70's and remember this song, the great music from then never gets old and still sounds great!!!
OK, if you're new "To This Here Game" here's others to peep:
Boz Scaggs, JoJo; ToTo, Georgy Porgy, 99, and I Won't Hold You Back; Doobies, Real Love, What A Fool Believes, and It Keeps You Running; Bruce Hornsby, The Way It Is; Christopher Cross, Ride Like the Wind; Steely Dan, Peg; Eagles, One of These Nights. If you like those I can recommend others.
@@markjackson6134 that's a great selection and many of my favs! I would have recommended these as well. If you want to get some real great Jeff grooves, there's also Michael McDonald "I keep forgetting"....
Boz and Jeff ! What a grooving team ! Thanks guys.
One of the most memorable guitar riffs ever played.
And one of the most memorable bass lines
Uh. Flute??
Who is the guy on guitar?
@@beautifulcat2023 not sure, but notably Louis Shelton credited for writing and recording the solo in studio. Member of the LA Wrecking Crew studio guys with shocking amounts of credits.
@@beautifulcat2023 it looked a little like Les Dudeck??
In my next life I want to comeback as one of boz's back up dancers!!!😂
So cool to see Jeff Porcaro laying down the groove!!!!!!!!
This song has so many layers that fit together perfectly
Found you again after many moons l🥰🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶⚘
Everyone lets jam....... Cheers 🥂
'I wonder, wonder who...yeah...Don't you know!?' Epic!!
Oh that smooth like butter voice Boz has !!!
Listening to Lowdown on Classic Vinyl ❤
Always thought a black man sang this 😂 his voice is cool AF
And most people thought Nat King Cole and Johnny Mathis were white. Does it really matter? LOL.
No one could sing it like Boz
A Masterpiece. ❤
I was 8 years old on the way to the airport in the car with my dad who I hadn't seen in 2 years because he moved to California. This song was on the radio, and I have loved it ever since. Miss you daddy 1938-1991💔
Still listening in 2020 🥰🥰🥰
I always love to hear me some Boz Scaggs !!!❤❤❤
I love this video. When he comes out and moves like Mick. He sure has those Mick Jagger moves. Love him❤.
Boss is the Best ever ❤️ 🎉
Man got soul. Sing brotha SING!!!!!
🕎 Boz .....Happy Hanukkah,..,.This season of miracles.
Love those back up singers!
How cool he is. The end of Lowdown his voice is so good and so sexy. Guess I started listening with his first album and first song that hit the radio. This man and his voice knows no age. Whew!
SENSATIONAL AWESOME HEAVENLY BEAUTIFUL AMAZING!!!!!
The best years of my life, 1977-78. Fun!
BOZ !!! It's all a lowdown.
One of the greatest songs of all time. It sounds fresh even after 47 years! This was the first album I bought in college in 1976. The whole album is a masterpiece.
Seriously! My fav karaoke song, when I sing it people really take notice.
No it's not! "Of all time".
Think you are being a bit of a silly billy @dancrawley6582.
Silk Degrees!
Me too !!!
Boz has his very own groove.
I love this song since I was a teenager, today I'm 64 and I still listen to it and just love it!!!!
Great ol Boz Scaggs with a timeless cut from that massive album,Silk Degrees. It seemed everybody that had a turntable or 8-track player owned a copy Jeff Porcaro is sorely missed as a drummer & songwriter with his band TOTO.
@ 1:51...love that look back, the look of we are moving on to the verse rather an extended opening..
One of the Best songs ever. Love Lowdown and Love Boz and drummer Jeff Porcaro. RIP Jeff.
I Cry Everytime I Listen To This Wonderful Song I Love Boz Scaggs & The 70s Although I Was Born In 1988 👂🎸🎶❤️
A very very young Jeff Porcaro.
LEGEND!
Jeff Fabulous Porcaro ❤️
Only One of the greatest Funk, disco ,r&b from 70s. Fantastic.
Jeff Porcaro!!!
@@treich6494 beatifull theme song!
The cisco kid wasnt a friend of mine Porcaro died on August 5, 1992, at the age of 38. It was originally speculated that he had fallen ill after spraying insecticide in the yard of his Hidden Hills home and died that evening at Humana Hospital-West Hills. The coroner's office initially listed his cause of death to be a heart attack from atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) however, after the autopsy the cause of death was reported as a heart attack due to occlusive coronary artery disease caused by hardening of the arteries because of cocaine use. (Source: Wikipedia)
This is an incredibly fantastic clip of Boz and his masterpiece.
I love the Les Dudek guitar 🎸 solo on Lowdown and Silk Degrees is definitely his best album!
Louie Shelton played the Lowdown lead on the album. There's a video here on UA-cam where he breaks it down for us guitar nerds.
Man I’m 47 and remember this song was mesmerizing and it always ran thru my head but didn’t kno the name of the song and found out the name when I was 18 and been slapping it Eva since.1 of the best songs Eva
I been Silky since 78. Perfect comic intro, self-effacing and genuine, like an old friend. Ur voice, production, and backups all magic. Good luck
Jeff Porcaro Forever!!!!!!
Boz, please release the footage from this concert. Even if the tape/film is not complete or in the best of shape, it'd make great bonus material for a boxed set. Thanks!
Ladies and Gentleman, put your hands together for a big fuckin' legend - Jeffrey Porcaro on the drums.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Best there ever was.
Once upon a time there was music in this world 🌎
Soundtrack to my childhood. Mana n Pops loved him.
Love love Boz. He is great. He has his own tecnique!!. Have his albums. Miss the good old music. This music stinks. Bravo. .🤗💯💯👏👏👏👏👏
This is the music I wish I was around for. 1997 baby, but hoping to re-introduce audiences to these classics when I make it as a singer
... 70's the wonder years !!
...and, THIS is where 'Yacht Rock,' was BORN, Kids! ...ha-HAAA!! ...this was such a kick in the TEETH, back in 1976; Boz (&the Porcaro Bros.) perfectly captured the sleek, seductive, yet, gritty feel, of NYC nightlife, and the ethnic / Black people that habituated within it....Boz won the 1977 Grammy for 'Best R&B Song', the FIRST time a White Male did that!! ...So, Boz has EARNED his 'Soul Boy' stripes, and THAT'S the 'Lowdown'.....
OMG! Jeffrey Porcaro, Michael Porcaro, Steven Porcaro! Great!
Yes! I completely agree!
No solo eso, Steve Lukather tambien toco para Scaggs y Paich compuso la cancion Lowdown!!
Raul Ruales : English please.
@@roseblake5803 rudeness just for rudeness' sake. Nice🙄.
I was squinting at the beginning "Is that Jeff Porcaro?" then I saw Michael, holy crap... it's all of them.
Love the Boz! I play this all the time. I was 25 living in Hawaii at the Tom &. a lot of musicians tried to duplicate his music ❤️
I swear since the 1980s ive thought that song was sung by a Philly or Motown black dude! Until today!!!😂
We had nothing but the BEST!!!❤❤
Baffled at how this video gets a thumbs down- the “smooth”in this video is something artists for decades try to recreate - and still going strong in 2019 - see you on Aug 24!
Only a bunch of assholes would put a thumbs down... they probably weren't even born when this song came out...
JD McGuire Probably millennial’s who are Justin Bieber fans! LoL
Nope I was 14 when this song was new, and have always loved it. Tempo is too fast, Bozz is giving a poor performance, and the sound quality is horrible
