Dude, that's the first "best fps game ev0r"-list which was good. Most of them show crappy games like Bad Company 2, MW2 or some shit like that - some of the best arena shooters and my two most loved modern fps. But you missed cod2 ;P
Xonotic (especially ctf mode with hook/grapple) has so much potential. It only needs more players and good maps (many of them are already, but not all). If you like fast paced (I mean really fast paced, not like Battlefield "fast paced") reflex shooters, try it out! It's free, and doesn't require installing I think.

Ethan Reid Battlefield 2 is an absolute legend of a game, I have the Complete collection of it but what lacks it from being higher is my experience with it. 1st. the game has expansions which I have heard at the time where expensive because the game is made by EA, The sims 1 also had expansions and I own the CC of the sims 1 and the sims 2. The logic of EA is to release a game with a few expansions then 5-10 years later cut support of it and release a complete collection for a lower price. Most FPS games don't have expansions and anyone who says "Half life 1 had expansions blue shift and opposing force" is a bounder because OP4 and BS aren't expansions 2nd. Battlefield 2 doesn't beat the beat the games bellow it, the game could have been better if there were more servers today and if the 2 expansions that require BF2's old homepage (which is no longer active) would work then it would have beaten timesplitters 2. BF2 and TS2 are two old games and I originally thought I should have put Timesplitters 2 at 3 but I was wrong. TS2 has an amazing selection of things to do and one of the best AI's in a fps ever made, but BF2 just can't beat TS2. I think my list is a little wrong, I forgot Duke nukem and why the hell did I put doom in 12th place.

In those games you could enter a room full of weak bad guys and kill all of them just by blasting and moving. While i still like modern FPS's, all this taking cover and using military tactics is not as exciting as blasting your way threw your enemies.
Half-Life and Quake are making combacks thats for sure. Quake 5 is inbound, thats a fact if id Software is making Doom and already released the new Wolfenstein game. Half-Life 3 is also coming, just Valves taking time because Half-Life 3 = Game of the century. As for Unreal, no. I see Unreal (gonna get hate) as a copy and paste of Quake using Epic Games Unreal engine tbh imo. I really see the id Games and Half-Life series as the dominent FPS in the industry and also because the id games established and created FPS aswell ;)
Kikematamitos You can't play 5v5, the way its supposed to be played. CS GO and 1.6 have Pugs, pugs translate to "Pick up games", basically matchmaking.
I'm late as hell replying to this, but yes, it was. Movement in general was a lot more crazy in TFC than in TF2, mainly because it was still putting a lot of emphasis on its roots as a former mod for QuakeWorld. In the footage here, though, it also just *seems* faster because all of the players shown have their FOV set really, really high. High FOV just makes everything seem like it's moving faster than it really is.
Where the hell is the original Half-life, and Half-Life 2? Half-Life 1 has more than 50 game of the year awards, and Half-Life 2 was chosen to the game of the decade..

Halo is what made mlg it takes a lot more skill than cod and bf. In halo u half to learn how to properly team shoot, strafing, nading, At least 1 guy on the team must know how to use the sniper to hold map controll. You half to learn where all the power weapons and powerups are. You half to time power weapons and power ups. No radar in mlg forces teams to use callouts on enemys and the only way to learn the callouts is by memorizing and studying the maps. So ya halo with the right settings is competitive jari.

I am pretty sure majority of people would suggest Doom, Goldeneye, or Quake if that were the case. Not only were those games addicting back in the day, but it revolutionized the FPS market (Except maybe Quake). In my opinion, Goldeneye should have been on this list is if it were FPS' in general, and Quake has deserved it's spot at number 1 (Just my opinion of course).

Have you never heard of perfect dark for n64? that game was also developed by rare softwares who made golden eye. It uses the same engine totio. The game is pretty underrated but have gain even better verdics then golden eye. Perfect dark deserve to be on this list.
Doom, AWWWWW YEEEEAAAAAA! !!!!!! most badass game ever!!! I play online with some people using skulltag. Its such amazing experience to play doom. Bf, CoD and some games cant be compared to it. A good list, there were some good title's there and I'm glad you didn't go for realism fps games because that's all that companies are making these days, it's much more fun to play a classic arena style one that's really fast paced.
Fantastic list. Some of my best games on there: Wolf ET, Unreal, Quake, CoD4. Even though it's obviously PC only, TimeSplitters and Goldeneye are strong contenders. It's a shame that the golden age of shooters is gone, I doubt we will see these types of games from big developers ever again :(

I would of only added section 8 somewhere in there,even though the first game was created in 2008,it deffinetly felt old school and very original at the same time,has some nice fast paced and skill gun play and I cant think of any other game who eliminates camping better. I watched this video expecting a bunch of modern mainstream games, this list is truly amazing. The only changes i would consider making would be from Natural Selection to the original Halo, because the original Halo truly does deserve a spot on the list(because halo is one of the best franchises and is more honorable in its old state) and from Tribes to, well nevermind Tribes is an amazng and should keep its spot. I don't agree with it being so high on the list, good video!
Wolfenstein ET is legendary. It's like a Quake (fast movement, trickjumping) but with great sense of teamwork and strategy like in CS but it's hell more dynamic and fast paced than CS.
Quake deserves #1 spot. It is very fast, well balanced, easy to learn, and extremely difficult to master and also is the blueprint engine to 7/10 of the games in this list. So they owe it all to Quake because without it they would have never come to be, or wouldn't have been the same.

although I dont agree with your list that much, I really liked the video. Was really well made and you analysed the games really well, so I could understand why you like for example quake more than counter-strike or so. It was comprehensible. BTW Return to Castle Wolfenstein is a single player game with multiplayer but the Enemy territory is just the multiplayer, only problem is that the single player one costs $10 on steam but it's worth it.

It means every match plays out in the exact same way over and over. Which is fine but it bores the shit out of me after half an hour. Hell quite a few of the games in my list do the same but the setting, the feel and the overall mood of those games interests me far more than counter strike ever will. The insane amount of connection problems and assholes i run into with the counter strike series robs any fun i start having.
#9 is a GIANT "no no". You'd have to be stupid to think that the multiplayer is balanced, let ALONE enjoyable. The campaigns are linear cakewalks that give you training wheels for EVERY SINGLE TASK. The ONLY, *ONLY*. good thing CoD has EVER given us: *Zombies mode*.

Alec Caso Ok then. If I were to pick a Call of Duty to be the best of the bunch, i'd probably pick World At War. The campaign was great (even better with unlock able 'cards'), it even had Multiplayer, which is rare as HELL these days (I mean the Campaign had multiplayer). & The Multiplayer deathmatch was probably the best in the series, or at least better than most.
EASkateTV There's not very many good fps made in history. If you're talking a top 10, there's gotta be some garbage in there. He forgot Painkiller though. Definitely one of the hardest to learn.
Should definitely release a newer version of this list. Some of these games' populations have been whittled down since 2011, and there have been quite a few new games that could make it here.
I never got into CoD, but the only other game I played a lot multiplayer was BF1942. That game had it all. It had 3 different competitive scenes due to infantry, armor, and air aspects. Also the interaction between them was challenging. I also loved the outposts because that added another strategic element. You also didn't die in 2 bullets; mechanics were very important at close and far range. Also dedicated servers. I played for 2 different teams and on the best servers. Awesome game.

A good list, there were some good title's there and I'm glad you didn't go for realism fps games because that's all that companies are making these days, it's much more fun to play a classic arena style one that's really fast paced.
Fantastic list. Some of my best games on there: Wolf ET, Unreal, Quake, CoD4. Even though it's obviously PC only, TimeSplitters and Goldeneye are strong contenders.
It's a shame that the golden age of shooters is gone, I doubt we will see these types of games from big developers ever again :(

I think the addition of vehicle combat in UT2004 put it over the edge, but the original UT was both awesome and influential.

I would of only added section 8 somewhere in there,even though the first game was created in 2008,it deffinetly felt old school and very original at the same time,has some nice fast paced and skill gun play and I cant think of any other game who eliminates camping better.
Also CS should be before COD,but hey it's your list :)
should be named "top 10 multiplayer frag games of all times", not top 10 fps shooters, cause multiplayer is not a requirement for fps
Multiplayer greatly increases replay value which could be a reason for this
I miss the days of Quake 3 arena and the first Unreal Tournament, those were a blast to play, I want a shooter with modes and such like death match ctf, more of a arena game

I watched this video expecting a bunch of modern mainstream games, this list is truly amazing. The only changes i would consider making would be from Natural Selection to the original Halo, because the original Halo truly does deserve a spot on the list(because halo is one of the best franchises and is more honorable in its old state) and from Tribes to, well nevermind Tribes is an amazng and should keep its spot. I don't agree with it being so high on the list, good video!
TRUE, and if you have a problem of HL2 not being on the list, it's because all games on the list are heavily multiplayer.
Wolfenstein ET is legendary. It's like a Quake (fast movement, trickjumping) but with great sense of teamwork and strategy like in CS but it's hell more dynamic and fast paced than CS.
Quake deserves #1 spot. It is very fast, well balanced, easy to learn, and extremely difficult to master and also is the blueprint engine to 7/10 of the games in this list. So they owe it all to Quake because without it they would have never come to be, or wouldn't have been the same.
nice list awesome music only one problem , number3 on the list should've been the 1999 version of UT its a lot better then the 2004 version in my opinion, also I would've squeezed in some room for hl & hl2 and definitely tf2. other then that great list and great vid im gonna sub :]

Not quite. Ion Storm was founded by Romero and Tom Hall, how ever they hired Warren Spector to open a new HQ of it who he would have total control. Warren Spector was the one who made the first two Deus Ex, where Romero and Tom Hall made Daikatana and Anachanox (who is a VERY good game)

although I dont agree with your list that much, I really liked the video. Was really well made and you analysed the games really well, so I could understand why you like for example quake more than counter-strike or so. It was comprehensible. CoD surprised me though, cod1-4 were good, but better than cs? hmm. Also funny that you start with 1st place instead of 10th xD
BTW Return to Castle Wolfenstein is a single player game with multiplayer but the Enemy territory is just the multiplayer, only problem is that the single player one costs $10 on steam but it's worth it.

Counter Strike bores the fucking shit out of me. I can play it okay but its the same fucking game over and over. Blow me blind.
It means every match plays out in the exact same way over and over. Which is fine but it bores the shit out of me after half an hour. Hell quite a few of the games in my list do the same but the setting, the feel and the overall mood of those games interests me far more than counter strike ever will. The insane amount of connection problems and assholes i run into with the counter strike series robs any fun i start having.

#9 is a GIANT "no no". You'd have to be stupid to think that the multiplayer is balanced, let ALONE enjoyable. The campaigns are linear cakewalks that give you training wheels for EVERY SINGLE TASK. The ONLY, *ONLY*. good thing CoD has EVER given us: *Zombies mode*.

Alec Caso Ok then. If I were to pick a Call of Duty to be the best of the bunch, i'd probably pick World At War. The campaign was great (even better with unlock able 'cards'), it even had Multiplayer, which is rare as HELL these days (I mean the Campaign had multiplayer). & The Multiplayer deathmatch was probably the best in the series, or at least better than most.

You could've included some defrag/trickjump clips of Wolfenstein:ET as that is pretty much the only active scene there atm. ;)
Should definitely release a newer version of this list. Some of these games' populations have been whittled down since 2011, and there have been quite a few new games that could make it here.
I never got into CoD, but the only other game I played a lot multiplayer was BF1942. That game had it all. It had 3 different competitive scenes due to infantry, armor, and air aspects. Also the interaction between them was challenging. I also loved the outposts because that added another strategic element. You also didn't die in 2 bullets; mechanics were very important at close and far range. Also dedicated servers.
I played for 2 different teams and on the best servers. Awesome game.
