Here's an idea I'm buying this year for all my (grown) kids. A fire blanket. If you see them advertised, they are a very easy way to put out a fire very quickly. Faster and easier than a fire extinguisher. I'm sure you've heard of them. Better safe than sorry, easy to store, and the more you buy, the cheaper they are!
I bought a "welding blanket" several years ago to put across the opening of our fireplace. After we've had a fire, it's a good idea to leave the flu open overnight (no CO!), and the blanket cuts down on heat loss. It seems to be the same material being sold as "fire blankets," but I bet welding blankets are less expensive.

I suppose the positive there is he is alive, he is a survivor and an excellent teacher in how to deal with life when it craps all over you (Still remember how you found him). Couple of years ago on the night before Christmas Eve, we found a neighbour's cat on the pavement - she had been hit by a car and died right in front of me while I was trying to get some help. The owner's son was heartbroken - things could be worse.

Ooh, poor kitty. So glad you found him tho’! I’ve been super practical this year. For example: hubby and daughter are getting each, 1 quality charger that will do laptop, iPad and phone (in one), a 3-pack of high quality cables, and a pack of adapters, 1 usb-c to usb-a, one the reverse, and one usb-c to the old kind. We can now ditch all the hoarded, just-in-case ones that make our “magic” kitchen drawer look like a nest of snakes died in it. 😀

Ooh, poor kitty. So glad you found him tho’! I’ve been super practical this year. For example: hubby and daughter are getting each, 1 quality charger that will do laptop, iPad and phone (in one), a 3-pack of high quality cables, and a pack of adapters, 1 usb-c to usb-a, one the reverse, and one usb-c to the old kind. We can now ditch all the hoarded, just-in-case ones that make our “magic” kitchen drawer look like a nest of snakes died in it. 😀
