You forgot one gigantic sin, the worst of the entire episode: Sky was suddenly able to manage everything that was expected of a Wonderbolt recruit after he couldn't even fly - within a few hours or days or so. That heavily undermines how tough it supposedly is to even be accepted into the academy and to manage the tasks there. It would have been a MUCH better ending to have him fail the tryouts and not make it but to have HER make it and have him cheer for her for a change while resigning himself to working hard and trying again next year.
I see what you’re saying but it looks like Sky was always a great flyer, he just always depended on Vaper, once he didn’t, he showed his true potential, hope that sorta explains it better.
Don't worry! It's not obligatory Starlight, she's _continually_ learning and absorbing friendship information but it'd be unnerving for us if she was instead seen hiding in the background and eavesdropping. Also, she's super protective of her new -mother- mentor, Twilight. She gotta be there.

Here's a sin for you: How did none of the academy instructors notice that Vapor Trail was constantly helping Sky Stinger? You would think the incident with Lightning Dust would encourage them to make sure that the cadets are being properly supervised during training.

5:32 I like to think the map saw the makings of underlying friendship problems that it thought Twilight and Rainbow Dash could expose and then fix. This being Sky's ego and Vapor always helping him. So the problems were already there, they just weren't known at first, so the mao sent them there before the issues could get to a point where it's irreversible.
I always found this episode to be average at best but i enjoy it nonetheless, especially the parts with Sky Stinger and Vapor Trail i can still remember when a lot of people myself included shipping those two, Vapor Trail was just adorable!!! And i always found the parts where RD says "I was just there" to be hilarious and i could kinda understand her frustrations with that, because sometimes i feel the same way. anyway i give this episode 6/10.
The map knew where the friendship was going to be headed once Sky learned he couldn’t fly on his own during the solo trials. There would have been an investigation, Spitfire would have called both of them out and things probably would have turned out much worse because for her it’s more business as usual because being the captain she has to be looking out for each recruit. Harmony probably wants to ensure they make it through the academy with their friendship in tact as they’d both be very good co-leaders.
To be fair to Spitfire, it's normal to take off your clothes in a locker room. Presumably she's changing from her "workout" dress blues into her... "work" dress blues. Yeah. Seems legit.
Beforehand, I never saw Top Gun but now that I did watch the movie (and it's 2022 Sequel which is fantastic and I highly recommend it since it's way better than the first), I now got the title reference

I think it was a friendship problem because it was a very dangerous relationship (haha) at that point since Vapor thought she had to help him and thought it was ok to lie to a friend, and Sky was dependent on Vapor but didnt even know it (an interesting dynamic icl). I feel like the tree did resolve a friendship problem, albeit a bit late perhaps
The reason they weren’t helped by the friendship table earlier in their lives is probably because the table and “friendship journeys” didn’t exist yet. When they were foals the library tree was probably still standing

Also the reason the map waited was probably because it didn't exist until recently and their issue was pretty minor compared to the others it called the group for.
Sin 4: Starlight wasn’t just sitting there. She’s trying to learn about friendship by watching the others on their way to do the maps bidding. Sin 7: twilight didn’t know it was rainbow dash being called because her cutie mark arrived there when she did too. so twilight had no way of knowing. Sin 13: I think spitfire was just curious, but she sounds very assertive. Sin 24: They both have probably practiced enough with each other for vapor to know skies moves. Sin 25: sky can at least pull himself off the ground, however scootaloo cannot even hover for more than a few seconds, so it would be most likely impossible for Dash to help her or get under her. Sin 29: sky, most likely got worse and worse overtime because he didn’t try as hard. when he was younger, we saw him going up very high but now he can’t go very high so I think he’s just gotten used to vapor helping him.
