My wife was recently recommended a progestin called "Provera" (Medroxyprogesterone) due to endometrial hyperplasia. Wouldn't a micronized bio-identical form of progesterone serve the same purpose? She'd much prefer going with the more natural one. The dosing for the progestin vs progesterone is different as well. Suggested dose for provera is 10mg, while standard recommended doses for the bio-identical versions are 100-200mg. Any particular reason for the discrepancy?
Unfortunately,I can't give specific medical advice online, but you are correct. Most OBGYNs aren't taught to use progesterone because it's a cheap generic med that drug companies push us to use Provera because they make money. Sad truth😥
