Man my s23 ultra gets me 7-9 hours with heavy use 50% at 5pm after heavy use is good better than my pro max with heavy use . Great review tho and tip on turning off that camera mode for less saturated photos.

I chose the S23 Ultra and it was a perfect decision. I never knew I needed the S Pen until now. Whenever I'm with my boss or at a meeting and I needed to do quick notes, I couldn't find an actual notebook or paper. Then I remembered my S23 Ultra. I quickly draw my phone out of my pocket, release the S Pen and BOOM! *Instant notepad!* Good job, Samsung! Upgrading from the S10 was awesome!

A better solution is to be prepared and have a laptop in meetings. Of course, you can type notes, which is usually better as they can be auto-corrected, readable, with grammar corrections, and easily shared as text.
@@andyH_England Laptops are really only good for typing notes that are strictly words. Many notes are better off drawn, math and engineering fields are both examples.
@@Bravo-Tango ...a tablet then with an attached keyboard. Either is more professional than taking notes from your boss on your personal phone.
@@andyH_England my boss is not like your boss. Trust me, a traditional notepad is preferred in my line of work than a big or bulky tablet or laptop (speed and mobility is key). And since we're in the modern age... smartphones. Even better, smartphone with an S Pen.

I have 14 Pro max and S23 Ultra . S23 Ultra is Superb , better than iphone . There are lot of features that i miss in 14 pro max like Call recording, 100X zoom, S pen. Great job Samsung 👍👍
Best phone I've ever owned. Battery is amazing. Every setting to the max and no issues. My battery usuage is much longer thsn you stated and i use it all day and night for work.
You've got to be an iphone fan boy. 😉 This phone blows away the 14 pro plus. Ive got the 512GB with 12ram.
Moved from ip 14 pro max to s23 ultra. Loved it so far. Apple is still smoother but with one ui 5.1, now the gap is closing. Camera, one ui, s pen, screen and battery.. everything is perfect, i highly recommend
What I love about Apple is how easy it is to login to websites or apps and even to pay at the store all via FaceID. Is Samsungs nice and smooth and fluid like the iPhone?
@@syesepoh you can use samsung pass. The same but with finger print sensor. i prefer Face id thats for sure but samsung is ok too.
@@airjordantr thx for the reply mate. Last Sammy I had was the 20 Ultra and I’ve kinda forgotten how I logged in to things haha. This is one of the reasons I haven’t slipped back over from the iPhone as I just think it’s so much easier using FaceID etc (plus logging into my Apple TV and I can’t forget about the watch either). Really do like the look of the 23 though.
I’m currently using the 14PM and I’m so looking forward to get me the galaxy S24U and have this experience you guys are taking about.
I had a really hit and miss experience with low light shots and taking photos of anything in motion (day or night). Sometimes I take a photo at night with what I think is good lighting and it comes out terrible - then in basic pitch black darkness with a single light source, they come out great. Can't figure out why.

Easiest fix for high usage days would be to have a MagSafe case (also available for Android) and use a light MagSafe powerbank just to extend battery to the end of day. Easily mount too on the car in case you don't use Android-Auto/Apple-Carplay
I don’t really watch android phone reviews but I was interested in you Europe trip. As an iPhone user, I’ll give Samsung on the design. Screen looks pretty immersive. I wouldn’t mind make camera setup on the back of the phone like Samsungs.

What I noticed when I went to a wedding using video & taking photos takes a toll on the battery.
I had another wedding (same month) I just turned off auto brightness (50) and lasted 50% by 11pm

Haha it is a nice stadium! Being there 2 times so far. Nice vid once again such a positive vibe you've got. Just bought this phone yesterday. The camera is so super sweet and it is so fast (coming from iP13promax with huge slowdowns after the battery health dropped to 81% since launch). Samsung makes some sweet products nowadays also looking at the Galaxy Book 3 with RTX4070 so I can game in the living room dinner table were also my older 2015 15" macbook pro lives nowadays. Just want sleek/functional devices in my rooms so that should be a great deal. Thanks for both reviews!

I'm getting 10 hours SOT using 4G only. I never use WiFi.
10 hours of SOT with what percentage left? I get 9/10 hours of SOT with around 20% left using wifi only or mixed usage wifi/4g, still never used It an entire day only on 4/5g.
If it didn't say it was filmed on a iPhone the majority of people wouldn't know the difference, especially since everyone is viewing video in many different resolutions. One person may be viewing at 720p another maybe viewing in 2160p and everything in-between . They don't make a phone with an 8k display the majority of people buy moniters and/ or tv's around 1440p@30 and 2160p(4k).

Awesome review man. However if you want the most accurate and best quality photos from the s23ultra you have to use pro mode. I'm telling you it's a lot different. I think it's better than my iphone 14pm when you use pro mode.
I agree. The pro video looked so good. It's just tough in situations where you don't have time to dial in pro settings. A lot of these moments happened so quickly
@Karl Conrad that is very true , once samsung dials in the camera a little more throughout the year like the s22u then it will be awesome. Still love both my devices though. Thanks again for another great video.

@RYBUB Chris Well first congratulations and the the new device and welcome back. The s23u and series of devices are fantastic. I do think the camera is very good onnthe s23 ultra esp using the telephoto lense and the zoom up to 30x is still very sharp and more detailed than Apple. I think the front main camera is very good but depending on lighting lacks consistency. Yes I know that samsung will send out some software updates to improve shutter speed. And algorithms to improve the camera as it's still early. They did it with the s22u and surely will with this one. I'm over very pleased with the camera and don't ever feel like I have to use my 14pm. Samsung also worked with devs and yes now insta gram and social media platforms do loom very nice and crisp on them as well. Hope you enjoy your new device and feel free to ask any questions. Cheers

Yes mediocre video quality in social media apps (IG, Whatsapp, TKTK, etc) might be an Android issue. Their videos are good to watch on those devices only.
Not only videos even photos loose quality when sharing.
iPhone is well optimized with these apps. Even iPhone 11 will beat S23 Ultra in upload quality.
the zoom is there only advantage over the iPhones camera, Samsung and google are the only manufacturers that could make me leave apple but google hasn't figured out there battery issue and I still don't care for Samsung's UI and camera processing for photos and videos.

As an S23 Ultra user and father of an iPhone 14 plus teen user, I respectfully disagree on the video camera take (and I don't have any social media). Considering the whole package, IMO S23 ultra has the best smartphone camera (not android camera). BTW, how good is the iPhone 8k video recording? Oh... Nevermind. Go check here in YT the amazing footage this 8k produces.
Samsung has confirmed that video is lacking, and a big update is coming soon (1GB) to resolve the cameras (see DXO). I feel you are anti-Apple, as it is apparent that iPhones have better video.
Of course, you are comparing a 2023 phone and the 2023 iPhone has not been released yet, and rumour is that will trump the S23U in all camera comparisons. And for the 1% that use 8K, that will also be included, as well as a periscope camera, and like Samsung, moon-fake.

The one thing that sticks out of my mind is that you said the s pen is a gimmick, you couldn't be farther from the truth. The s pen actually is extremely useful and is definitely not a gimmick. I wouldn't expect anything less from an apple fanboy though.
Most people never use the s-pen. Even tho is great, its not used by most.
Gimmick for me! I mention if you use it a lot, then totally worth it. Mine lived inside the phone for 99% of the time

@@davidstjohn1 gimmick tends to be used for features added that are seldom used or of no real benefit too. So yes, the pen could be considered a gimmick by many. Even the 200mp in some ways - most people could get away with less mp

That's because you're not a S pen user. I've been a Note user since it debuted. I have Surface devices with the pens and also Ipad with the pencil. I can't live without the stylus. So maybe you don't understand the fully capacity of the pen and even the use with Dex. It's the best! Period

Yes! There are some things the Pixel does well computationally, but better sensors on the Samsung

Have you considered the oppo find x6 pro since it has 2,500 nits? I'm more interested in the red magic 8 pro gaming phone. I just really like the 2,500 nits from the oppo find x6 pro.
It has a great camera hardware but the chinese software is just a pain to use, not possible to connect wearos watches, too many bloatware, delayed notifications, cannot change default launcher, etc.. unless they release the global version, it just cant be a daily driver
@@Blue-sb9fy I used chinese phones from huawei, xiaomi, vivo, zte and one plus. I like huawei the most since I get the best battery life and signal strength out of all the phones I used and that's even including samsung phones. It sucks that there are not much choices of unlocked android phones in the stores from best buy. The only phones that are available are samsung, iphones, pixel, motorola, one plus and blu. There were more choices back than like, lg, htc, sony, zte, and huawei. I still have my one plus one, vivo nex s, huawei mate 9, zte axon 7, nexus 6p, sony z5 premium, htc one m9, htc one max. These phones came out when there was a ton of brands to choose from since there were more choices for unlocked phones. I don't use iphones, only android phones. There were certain features that seperated each phone apart and you can choose what you wanted in a a particular phone, now every phone looks the same and does the same thing and nothing offers anything unique from each other, every phone back than had certain features on certain model of phones. The phones were cheaper too back than, now the choices are limited, more expensive, and less features. I kept these old phones because I really enjoy the features that most of the old phones used to have but no longer exist on newer models or a very small percentage of phones. I wanna be able to have choices with phones like choosing what places to go each at whether it's fast food or a restaurant. I mentioned food places since there are so many choices and phones used to be like that.

A smartphone is if you use for a smartphone not a camera if you want to really get camera going buy one I don't buy phones for cameras if the camera's clear enough to see the address I'm taking cool but that's not my reason of going s23 ultra is much better than me than iPhone everybody loves iPhone because Apple pushes that narrative

"Gimmick" is disrespectful and implies something doesn't work properly and is redundant, Just say in your daily life you don't have a need for it as much as others might and move on. Their BEST SELLING series was the NOTE that had such a following they had to integrate it into the main line of phones when they decided to stop separate production.

Having used the S23 for over a month now, I can say that apart from the zoom camera, iPhone is still better in most cases. I took pictures in broad daylight and the ones taken using the S23 are just too contrasty and the HDR is so aggressive and in low light pictures are too soft. iPhones give more details especially on the skin.

A BIG update for cameras is coming in April, and it needs it. I have reverted to my OPPO as the S23U cameras are a work in progress. I expect (hope) that they will be much better with the update.

Great phone, i just don't see it as a huge upgrade from the s22 ultra apart from it's battery life. People can claim how the little improvements make a big change but in reality and practicality they don't. A battery improvement doesn't justify a 700 + trade in deal
It's almost never "worth" a yearly upgrade unless the previous model was crap.
Then again is it "worth" it to buy a brand new phone
Very accurate, unless you suffered the inequity of an Exynos binned S22U that sucked, as I did. I am getting close to 2X battery life on the S23U.
@@andyH_England i have the s22 ultra Exynos & i don't know what people's issue with it is? It's snappy & does everything that's needed. I don't really play games on the phone but everything else about the phone is great. I hit about 6-7 hours of SOT with all the features on so that's perfect for my use. Hitting 10+ hours of SOT is nice but more of a flex than anything.
@@mac8669 There were good and bad Exynos, mine was bad and sucked. I traded it back to Samsung for the S23U and it is their problem now.

He is reporting his experience. I got 4-5hrs SOT with my S22U last year, despite many getting much more. Just the luck of the draw. He may have one from a poor batch.

Imo they should have more options. My oppo has options where there is cinematic mode - uses the higher gamut but without looking silly.
