I reckon that oil pick was blocked. That clump of belt fiber in the sump 16:00 fell off the pick up when you pulled the sump, it's the same size and shape as the 'clear' part of the pickup 16:18 . Rather than the pickup being partial clear it was blocked and there's likely been some oil starvation to the bores, hence the low compression.
The cam lobes will be different, two valves open, lobes down ,valves shut lobes up, it would make an almighty noise if you lined up the cams and turned the key 😆
Hi Mark. Glad "Lady Luck" Is going your way. Just had a Wet Belt done. On my Pug 2008. @48000 Miles. As a precaution. As no service history. When I bought it 3 years ago. See you in the next one. 👍👍 Cheers.
Hello Mark, well it starts, and you put new oil and cleaned the pick up pipe, the old oil seemed like there wasnt enough in the car.a new belt needed,it will be a nice car.
Oil starvation to the top end so the hydraulic lifters and vvt had no oil causing the valves not to open at the correct time which would cause a compression issue. New belt and a good clean it should be ok.
Well done Mark, l would do a full service on this vehicle including plugs and all filters plus wet belt and pollen filter once your happy it’s worth doing.
I knew that timing was good great you got it running. Your workshop looks good I've been fully rebuilding a sapphire cosworth in my front garden in a tent not ideal but it's nearly finished now I know the next one I do will not be in my garden 🤣🤣🤣
Hi , Mark could the system have a very sensitive oil pressure senso regardsStever due to wet issues the pick up pipe was quite bad . Now you have cleaned it allowing a better oil flow? regards Steve
If the timing is out, then your valves might be open when testing for compresion. Nice little car, and well done for getting it, but now I think you need extra long pliers, and you should be able to get the adapter out. thanks for the video
You may have fixed it accidentally, start it running and shake the wires about under the bonnet in case theirs a loose wire but definitely change that belt and service the engine you’ve got to be on a winner with that car 🎉
Boss at work had low oil pressure and the car then stopped. It has the same engine. Replaced the belt and cleaned out the oil pick up and car was fine. Must be designed like to to stop more damage.
Wow, you are so lucky with your purchases from copart,, but credit to you, to take the time to check the engine, otherwise £700 for a engine would have been wasted. Keep on buying and we will keep on enjoying your videos Cheers.
On the original 1st crank couldn't see rpm needle whas it crank/cam sensor as that would cause no spark /ignition went back and checked no rpm needle so check connectors
someone at my works brought 2015 Peugeot forgot what model but its been back 4 times in 6 month to dealer i said you should of done your research to not touch one
Low oil pressure will cause all sorts of issues including Piston rings nipping up, timing solenoid faults, hydraulic cam followers not allowing valves to open properly and just by clearing out the oil pick up you’ve given it a chance It will need a new belt correct oil as it’s in a bad way Lucky though as could of ended up with a engine replacement if left any longer
Belt needed replacing and gauze blocked. Probably that big piece in the sump fell off the gauze which was causing near total blockage? Seen this a few times on these engines. Dead... then a belt and pick up cleaned and back to life!
Its a tidy and clean looking car being a white one, they always show the scuffs and dents more....but hey... a bonus , you aint got to find another engine at 750 nicker , small out lay hopefully to get it up to scratch bud... jobs a good one....
I believe the original fault was fuel related, when you stripped it down and disconnect the fuel rail. This could have reset itself when reconnected. Thats why it started when it did for you, but it did take a few chanks to get it started.
Mark - basics first! - you still do not know if you have a spark or fuel. Surely you should have done that first. (Posted before the end of the video.). How did you get the pressure gauge adapter out of the plug hole?
The intake and eshaust valves should not be open at the same time (perhaps a small amount ov overlap). On the compression stroke, both intake and exhaust should be closed. If the belt didn't slip, why is the compression so low? When you were cranking the engine, it didn't sould like rod knock for oil starvation. Could low oil pressure messed with any variable valve timing or collapsed lifters causing low compression? What you did with the car was take the belt particles out of the oil pan.
That oil needs to be thoroughly flushed to get out all of the remnants of the cambelt and the oil pump wetbelt then the sump dropped again. I reckon the engine fault was oil starvation.
Don’t waste time and money with this engine. Also you should use sump gasket sealer and wait 24 hours before starting. Make sure you use the correct oil . Zero 20.
@@littlebubbie726 bad as the mini engines they not even wet belt they burn oil im glad i scrapped it after spending and spending for 1 year fixing stupid things going wrong with it

My daughter has a 208 peugeot 1.0 puretech 16 plate that plastic baffle plate above sump was loose on hers but has a rattle goes into limp mode every other week cylinder no 3 misfire I would do 3 or 4 hundred miles on it just to make sure it's OK never again will I touch a puretech car good luck.

Clearing the oil pick up pipe would’ve helped, I’d change the wet belt and service it then see what it’s like
