    You will Need:
    Chopstick
    #104 Decorating Tip for roses
    #352 Decorating Tip for leaves
    Wonder Cream Icing (see recipe below)
    Colors (we are using soft pink, leaf green and bright white)
    Disposable decorating bags
    Scissors
    WonderCream Decorators Frosting:
    Ingredients:
    1 16 oz. tub of store-bought white or vanilla frosting (do not used “whipped” frosting)
    1 16 oz. tub (use tub of frosting as your measuring cup) Crisco® shortening (I only use Crisco®)
    1 Pound (16 oz.) box of Powdered Sugar
    1 teaspoon clear extract (vanilla, almond etc.)
    ¼ Cup warm water (you may not need to add water if needing a stiff frosting or using extracts)
    Flavor Tip: You may add a teaspoon of any clear extract to give your frosting added flavor. Our favorites are vanilla, almond, champagne, lemon, and hazelnut.
    Adding Real Butter: Feel free to add 1/2 Cup of softened butter to the mix to add more flavor.
    How to Make:
    Add tub of frosting and shortening into a mixing bowl. On low speed, beat frosting until mixed well. While mixer is still on slow add powdered sugar. Add small amount of warm water until mixture is smooth. Once all mixed together, beat for about one minute longer. Do not over mix. It will create air in the frosting, which makes frosting a smooth cake difficult. If frosting seems stiff, add some more warm water. If frosting seems too runny, add powdered sugar and mix.
    Note: When making frosting roses, the frosting needs to be stiff. Add more powdered sugar to get a firm frosting that will create a beautiful flower without drooping on the cake.

    This is great and really helpful. I have started making cakes for charity and I can't keep up with demand. I have learnt all my skills from UA-cam. BUT please can you do close ups of the rose you are creating as the camera pans out at the crucial part! Thank you.

    my OCD went nuts over the very last rose bud not being a space away from the first one... I would have had to go and fill in all the spaces after that lol also, if you wanna make a multi tonal rose, do a thin line of food coloring Dow. the side of the bag before you put the frosting in, it's beautiful.. I'm doing acid green and black roses on my brother's oogie boogie birthday cake :) happy baking!

    I would just invest in a hopper or a nail as some people call it. I don't suggest using a chopstick or any sticks... it just ruins the flower as you scrape it off.

    I agree with the person before me-it would have been nice to have been able to see what you were actually doing! Are you essentially using the chopstick (or skewer as was used in another similar video) as the “base” of the rose that you would normally make on a flower nail, instead of using a #12 tip to pipe a base that is in height 1 1/2 times the width of the rose tip (? 104)?

    • @KidsBakingClub
      @KidsBakingClub  6 років тому

      Hi, the new video tutorial is hereua-cam.com/video/-vTJqR7kq-c/v-deo.html Yes, you are correct on the chopstick replacing the flower nail which make a tighter rose, along with easier lifting to your cake.

    • @JaimeDornanLady
      @JaimeDornanLady 6 років тому

      Todays Creative Food I wasn’t asking if the chopstick was replacing the flower nail. I was asking if the chopstick is replacing/acting as the BASE, which in a regular rose done on a nail, you would use like a tip 12 to make a base that is a height equal to 1 1/2 x the width of the rose petal tip you’re using (like a height that is 1 1/2 x the width of tip 104). If doing a Wilton rose, you pipe the base on the flower nail first, then change to a tip 104 (or whatever size you want) and start making the rows of petals around the base. ???

    • @KidsBakingClub
      @KidsBakingClub  6 років тому

      Exactly. No need for the base of a #12 you would use for a flower nail. The tip of the chopstick is that substitute. Thanks for making that clear. Did you check out the newer video that gives a closer look to how to use the chopstick?

  • @doftle
    @doftle 12 років тому +1

    •the camera was more focused on you then the rose
    •you can make larger leaves with a ziploc bag(with the tip in a v)
    •on cupcakes, you can just make it on the cake
    The tutorial itself was pretty good, though...

      Add more powdered sugar to your frosting. Your frosting is too light and needs to be stiffer. I usually frost my cakes first and them add more powdered sugar to my frosting to make it thicker for roses. Hope that helps.
