A simple dialectic grease packet at autozone can help with keeping the electronics clean and corrosion free. Originally meant to be used in the battery terminals..

Thanks. I use it on all my electronics but they wear off pretty quickly especially in areas that are contact points. I guess I just have to use it more often which is a pain. I was thinking of dropping it in some oil every once in a while.

Geez for something that costs 100 bucks should not have to be modified. I hope Yak Gear sees this video and fixes all those mistakes. Great video once again Steve.

Yea, it seems like most everything these days. One season and then the dumpster. They sell a ton of these, so I imaging it should be helpful for surviving longer than one season.

Great video! I also have a Visicarbon Pro that is having some issues. I recently bought the 4-led replacement but I am having issues within the battery area, probably due to corrosion. Your video is very helpful.

This is a awesome video! It helps ALOT!! It’s unrated video.
The only thing is my threads broke on my light. But I think I’m gonna find a flashlight to put inside there. I just got to figure out how to get my shell for the light to go on. But I learned a lot about these flag poles. They definitely shouldn’t charge that much for them. Thanks!

Steve something that would be nice would be a video of you explaining a little of everything for heading out into the ocean where to check waves, winds, all that stuff. Me and my dad just finished buying an aquasport explorer 26ft boat and were having a bit of troubles with these things, keep up the great videos steve

Do you prefure the mighty mount or railblaza star port. Which do you think is stronger for the flag pole? Star port to scotty mount base.

My 2 line attachments that attaches the flag have snapped off. Any suggestions?

I think what you used to replace the barrel nut was a pronged tee nut? You can find them in stainless steel or zinc plated. The stainless cost a bit more, and I think both would be available at Lowes/HD/Ace. I have two of these visi carbon pros, and I know I will have these same issues eventually. Very helpful information, so thanks much for sharing your experience.

Good to know the name. So far so good on all the repairs. They have sold lots of these things so I imagined I couldn't be the only one to have had problems. It's about three years old so in general it has held up.

I got it up and running although limping. It will get me around until the parts get here. I did a test drive today and it worked fine.

I was looking for away to replace the LEDs and now I know I can just stick a flashlight and get a brighter light!

Has anyone sprayed crc marine or silicone in the battery compartment and contacts to prevent corrosion?

Do you think the one from Railblaza would be better?

Unfortunately corrosion kills anything electrical or metal. It is just a matter of time. I would still recommend these flag kits, but not so much at $100. Maybe $50. It is good to know that they are always repairable.
