It was at 5 pm in the evening. I was a visitor in London and l needed to go to the supermarket. For some unknown reason, as l opened the front door to leave the house, l felt unusually anxious. l came back in, and l made The Sign of The Cross. As l stepped out, a car came from nowhere, at great speed, and it went on to the pavement, crashing into a lamppost in front of me. Had l not stopped for these few seconds to make The Sign of The Cross, that car would have hit me. It is a hugely powerful prayer of protection.
That is the power of the Holy CROSS. Thanks for sharing this experience.

I am a convert. No one ever gave this explanation of the cross. I now look at it differently and will try to remember it to do it daily. Not easy for a 77 year old!😊🙏🙏☦️
Same here, went through RCIA almost 20-years ago in my late 20s and just kinda followed the crowd when it came to certain Sacraments. This is a great information and guidance.
I also am a convert, having just completed RCIA and Confirmation last year at 70. This is such a good study and helps me overcome all the spiteful negative training I got from my Presbyterian background. I am getting more comfortable with this form of praying.❤🙏🏻✝️✝️
Just do daily prayer before you do the prayer do the sign of the cross, then do the sign of the cross wean the prayer is done, also wean you pray the rosary do the sign of the cross, can also do it wean praying for food, etc can literally be done at any given moment, and God bless you and your family🙏🏻
Don’t be concerned. Many cradle Catholics have a limited understanding of sacramentals. I teach RCIA and encourage you to continue on your journey.

Dad passed last year and had lost his memory and communication, yet in the days before passed he recited the Lords Prayer and Hail Mary. He was blessed to receive last rites in the hours before he passed, Dad was 93. R.I.P Dad.

As a young boy in my training to become an Alter Boy of the Latin Mass I was taught the 3 finger method of making the sign of the Cross. I really appreciate hearing that lesson once again.

The whole thing is spurious and not founded on Scripture or the practice of the first Jewish apostles and the Jerusalem Church until 135 CE, after which the Holy City was razed and ethnically cleansed of Jews by European Gentiles.

As a child we were taught to make the sign of the Cross when we hear a siren as it implies someone in need.
Yes! I teach Catechism and the class is near a busy street, so police, fire trucks and ambulances pass by quite often. We all make the sign of the cross when we hear sirens. We pray for the first responders and those in need.

Thank you for this beautiful piece of information. I was taught to always use three fingers. I was also taught to never enter a church with a mantilla or hat. I’m 53 and have always had my head covered. Our daughters have an extensive array of hats and love them. They call them “Hats for God’s House”! Both are in their 20’s now and one has lost her faith. My husband and I pray constantly for her soul and used to bless her when leaving to go home. She didn’t like that and rarely comes over now. We know God has a plan and is working in her life everyday. In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost, Amen.

@@mitchellosmer1293 If you look at every Bible translation, it will be LORD God. There are three "lords" in the Bible:
LORD = God the Father
Lord = Yeshua the Messiah
lord = master, sir for a human
The difference helps differentiate who the verse is referring to, as in the Psalms, where it says, "The LORD said to My Lord..." which is God the Father referring to His Son.
If you write "The Lord said to My Lord," there is no way of telling who is referring to whom.
Psalm 23 says, "The LORD is my shepherd, but most write "The Lord is my shepherd."
The word "LORD" in capital letters denotes the Holy Name of God represented by the four Hebrew letters YUD-HEH-VAV-HEH, or YHVH, as most translators were not 100% sure which vowels to add to the consonants, as Hebrew is a consonantal language and one adds the vowel sounds by context, thus in English some suggest Yahweh or Jehovah, even though there is no "J" in Hebrew.
The only time this does not occur is when the title "Lord" is before the Holy Name YHVH, and the translators did not want to write "Lord LORD," thus in some passages, such as in Ezekiel, you will see "Lord GOD," with "GOD" in capital letters to denote YHVH, which would mean "Lord Yahweh."
However, no English Bibles actually contain original Names of YHVH & Yeshua, use alternative replacements instead, which the devil must be very happy about as they are lost to the Church.
"SATAN" however has survived from Hebrew to modern English without any changes at all. 👺

She was His beloved mother who He took care of even from the cross, when He gave her to John to take care of as his mother. She was not divine, but she was set aside by God to have the singular honor above all to be the mother of His divine son.
