Winner of a video, I been tryin to find out about "what should i take for knee pain?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Ieyameron Unexpected Improvement - (search on google ) ? It is a smashing exclusive guide for discovering how to end your mind-numbing knee pain minus the normal expense. Ive heard some great things about it and my mate got cool success with it.
Father, you do not sound like a used car salesman. I appreciate you talking fast, or else, it would be boring. I am learning so much about Catholicsim through these videos. I chose to become Catholic 2 years ago. Thank you.
This guy's really funny and likable. And even as a non-catholic, he seems like someone I'd love to be friends with. Hanging out, watching Lord of the Rings, discussing scripture, etc.
Wow! I always go down to my knees before Jesus but you just gave me three important reasons why I do it, it will definitely be more meaningful tomorrow when I go to church. Thank you Father Mike 😃
As an aside, GOD, said, and not I, that you never call anyone except your parental father, Father! Why do we call Priests in the Catholic Church, Father ?
I think you are the first person to actually address the half kneel/curtsy/trip/lunge thing. I don't want to genuflect half-heartedly before the king of kings, I want it to be a sign of my love and fidelity towards him. :) Btw, I laughed out loud at the end...
Never seen a UA-cam comment section with only positive comments, as I have herein, with regard to such a blessed priest like you. Your broadcast, humour, enthusiasm and wonderful depth, all in one is what God shaped in your soul, to love His Lambs. Thank you shepherd for hearing His call and starting this UA-cam ministry for all the thirsty!
I'm so happy to be studying Catechism in a Year with a fellow Tolkien nerd. I'm going through RCIA, and your videos have been keenly helpful. TY for your hard work Fr Schmitz!
Dude, and I mean that with the utmost respect, you are crazy. Always enjoy your explanations, talks...ruminations perhaps. You keep it simple, but still provide necessary depth to whatever you talk about. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. May the Lord Bless and Keep in all that you do.
Father, as a native Spanish speaker it was kinda difficult to follow you at the beginning but i love your sense of humor and what you say is soooo inspiring in such a brief time, it's simply amazing!! You've become one of my favs spiritual leaders and you're always included in my prayers cause you're a blessing to many!! God bless 🙏
Father Mike, I think you sound incredible when you do these. I'm not Catholic or seeking to become one, yet I love your videos. I think you do a great job of explaining things so that all people can understand. Never be discouraged, keep running the race. Shalom and berakhah to you.
Hi Mike, and thanks for that interesting explanation of genuflecting and bowing which is traditionally done before and after mass. What was totally unexpected by me was how you delivered your explanation with comic relief. Although this is a very serious thing---and I take my relationship with Jesus oh so seriously because I love him with all of my heart---you had me literally cracking up. I've been away from the Catholic Church for decades and genuflecting as well as that gesture parishioners make before the reading of the gospels during mass was never explained to me. Even if it was I have always had ADD and a learning disability so I never retained it. Now, since I'm returning to the Catholic Church after exploring my own spiritual path my own way there is this passion in my heart and this space I've created which has begun to see all of the richness within The Catholic Church. I feel a little overwhelmed at all of things one can attempt to understand about the church but I'll be taking it one step at a time. Thank you, again, Father Mike, my brother and someone who can make me laugh which isn't very easy to do. God Bless.
Don’t over think it just know that Christ loves you so much it’s amazing. Before the gospel we make the sign of the cross on our head, that his words are always in our thoughts, on our lips, that his words are always on our lips and over our hearts, that his words are always in our heart. God bless you.
5 Do not bow down to any idol or worship it, because I am the Lord your God and I tolerate no rivals. I bring punishment on those who hate me and on their descendants down to the third and fourth generation.
Father thank you for explaining the genuflect and the bow positions. It is so important, like many other traditions, and people have no idea what to do! Unfortunately, a long spand of time has passed and no one has educated individuals. There are many different things that my mother taught me when I was a little girl that I never heard as an adult. I pray you do other videos because for those who wish to listen, there is so much to learn! Thank you so much for your time and dedication. You are a wonderful priest! ❤
Hello Father, I am not of the Catholic faith, but I have enjoyed your videos. You are a credit to the Catholic faith and to Christ. May God bless you Andy
"Out of the darkness of my life, so much frustrated, I put before you the one great thing to love on earth: the Blessed Sacrament... There you will find romance, glory, honour, fidelity, and the true way of all your loves on earth, and more than that: Death. By the divine paradox, that which ends life, and demands the surrender of all, and yet by the taste - or foretaste - of which alone can what you seek in your earthly relationships (love, faithfulness, joy) be maintained, or take on that complexion of reality, of eternal endurance, which every man’s heart desires." Oh yes, he was a catholic ;)
I have been telling my praise that the way to get people to get more involved in the church is to explain to them once again why we do the things we do. I believe that draws us closer because we have a better understanding of our traditions. Thank you for doing this as I need to share it with my sisters. So grateful for you Father.
I've been curious about this for a long time. A handful of times in my life I've seen people -- Catholics, must be, maybe Orthodox -- kneeling abruptly when entering a building with a large crucifix. I was startled to see it and startled to see the large Cruxifix. I realized it was a Catholic building where a rummage sale was being held. Anyway, my grandparents told me later that was bowing down to idols. I'm sure the Catholics and Orthodox see it differently, but I could never figure out how such a thing could occur given biblical requests to not bow down before idols... I listen to videos like this to help me make sense of things.
I was slightly unsure the first 30 seconds, but then I appreciated the way you communicated what could have been bland & boring, but you made it interesting, still expressed the core facts, and you were genuine. So whoever said you sounded like a "salesman" is wrong, besides, even if you might speak a little fast for some, you enunciate perfectly! :-D You inspired me & surely others to genuflect correctly, and with all our heart!
Ascension presents plz read this......am praying for america specifically since I found u.....we are now at 501k subs....this Is needed so thank u n am praying for all of us
Properly speaking, we Catholics genuflect only to the tabernacle, where Jesus resides (and some people genuflect before receiving the Host, and on a couple of days a year we all genuflect at the lines in the Nicene Creed about the Incarnation). The altar, which is merely a symbol of Jesus, is for bowing only. But of course in a lot of churches the tabernacle is behind the altar, so there’s that. God bless.
Fr. Mike, God bless you!!! I have shared so many of your videos on Facebook because you are so approachable and so enthusiastic. You truly bring the Faith to life. Keep it up! I love when a new Ascension Presents with Fr. Mike pops up in my UA-cam notifications. :D
Thank you for explaining this! As a protestant who recently began visiting a catholic church, I was very confused why people kept bowing getting in and out of the pews.
Nice! I don't know if anybody has told you this yet, but out of respect for what we (and the orthodox) believe about the Eucharist, I ask that you don't take communion at a Catholic (or orthodox) church. God bless you! Take care!
Good work Father! I’m 33, raised catholic, catholic school until high school (all boys HS :/). My mom was a Nun for 10 years (Long story). I’m just rediscovering my faith. I appreciate your sense of humor and using UA-cam to reach us! It’s nice to see a relaxed cool pastor.
5 Do not bow down to any idol or worship it, because I am the Lord your God and I tolerate no rivals. I bring punishment on those who hate me and on their descendants down to the third and fourth generation.
if it weren’t for the speed of your words, you wouldn’t be able to captivate high school kids. i’m glad i found you at the time because we discuss what we learn about you now in our young adult communities. high school age is delicate and it takes people like you and emily to know how to speak and keep their attention.
I have never before heard a connection between genuflection at Mass and the genuflection of a man before his potential bride. Very good point. The intensity of devotion should be the same. I think this point illustrates part of why marriage is a sacrament, a physical touching point for a spiritual reality. Good video!
One day Fr.Mike, I hope I can meet you in person. Really love your videos. You have help many people to understand and also remind them why we do what we are doing.
I'm not a native englsh speaker. But slowing down the vedio through youtube playback settings helps me understand you Father. I'm so keen to listen to you Fr. Mike. I'm praying that the church should have more fathers like you. _From SriLanka
Father Mike, your enthusiasm is always appreciated! I, too, accelerate my speech unintentionally when discussing topics about which I am very passionate. I always find your presentations highly informative and interesting so thanks and may the Lord bless you for your excellent work and heart!
Thank you for explaining, as a new convert I've been doing it because that's what we do! But I do feel inside like; I pledge my loyalty, fealty, and if need be my sword.
I'm a new convert (this past Easter Vigil), and the RCIA was led by our two priests - and one of them described it exactly as you say. Now, why do priests always seem to say "Boom! Down on one knee!"? LOL . Love your videos, they help supplement what I'm studying. Thanks for answering the call! ((Hugs))
Fr. Mike, thank you so much for these encouraging and enlightening words. Stay strong in the faith! Young people (especially men) look up to you. I pray for your ministry.
Great videos, Fr. Mike! Another reason we may seem to “trip” rather than fully genuflect knee-to-the-floor might be because some of us have old knee injuries coupled with arthritis. I know I do, and am unable to dip all the way to the floor. But if I could, I would, most certainly. Thanks for the great videos! God bless you!
Thank you for this explanation. When you said "No longer going through the motions, it is doing the motions with meaning." This is what I'm trying to do I'm my life, with mass, with the rosary with prayer. I hope that you are inspired to do more videos like this. I'd like to see something that goes through the mass from beginning to end identifying things that should be done as well as things that should not be done (I've seen very inconsistent and inaccurate things done) at each point in time and why we do them. My goal for mass, in particular, is a more meaningful, complete, and accurate participation in the mass. Thanks Again. God Bless
5 Do not bow down to any idol or worship it, because I am the Lord your God and I tolerate no rivals. I bring punishment on those who hate me and on their descendants down to the third and fourth generation.
Thank you Fr. Mike Schmitz! I completely understand and agree with the three reason why we genuflect to the Tabernacle. Why don't we shouldn't we show as much (or more) love, submission and respect to Christ when we receive the Eucharist and kneel?
Thank you! I am currently going through the RCIA process, and these are the things I want to learn but don’t even know to ask about. I realize this is an older video, but it is much appreciated!
5 Do not bow down to any idol or worship it, because I am the Lord your God and I tolerate no rivals. I bring punishment on those who hate me and on their descendants down to the third and fourth generation.
The first video of yours that I saw was "What's your bedtime?". It ioened with you drinking coffee from a Superman mug and I was hooked! Lol! Thank you,Fr. Mike, for being just you! And bless you for throwing fuel on this heart that had cooled to a lukewarm indifference. I have found spark, direction and confident peacefulness (if that makes sense) in part you.
For all the lukewarm, warm and cold hearts that Fr Mike lights aglow and brings to Jesus, may his reward be great in heaven. May God bless, strengthen and protect Fr.Mike.
Genuflect. Father Mike when I do this it's so very simple. Plus body laungage. Look too the Tabernacle...then genuflect one knee on the floor and in my mind/body I say; "My Lord and my God." That simple...it really is now.
I've always identified with being a knight for God's Kingdom war. And so when I was converting, the first things I noticed is the fullness of manifestation of this reality in the beauty of a cathedral. And I can't help myself but want to genuflect upon entering the courtyard of my King's throne-room... Upon walking past His Holy seat upon the tabernacle. When walking past Him in adoration. Before receiving Him in Mass... I am at His service. I bow my head like a knight bows his head to expose his neck as a sign of offering his life to his Lord, to receive His blessing or His sentence, whichever suits Him.
I love your enthusiasm! I have a wonderful priest that gives great homilies but he puts me to sleep with his extremely calm way of speaking. You are wonderful and I love all of your videos! God bless you :-)
God Bless you, I love your style, of preaching, don’t slow down or change nothing, that’s who you are, we need prest that makes a difference, in our crazy world, always in my preyers,God Bless you.♥️💕🙏🏻
I remember you discussing this in the Teaching Mass you led with Fr. Tim on his youtube channel. My girlfriend is Catholic, and that really helped me understand what was going on during the Mass, thank you so much Fr. Mike!
My mother was educated by the Sisters of Mercy who taught her and she me, to pray when genuflecting, "Jesus, I adore You in the Blessed Sacrament." And I'm starting to get a bit of arthritis in my knee so I hold onto the pew as I genuflect.
I want to make sure I am doing the right thing, here, and ALWAYS with the right meaning behind the action. When I was growing up, my religion teacher told us we genuflect before and after mass toward the altar, as a way of addressing the Lord and saying a sort of hello and goodbye to Him, like an acknowledgement, respect and awareness for His presence before us. Therefor, I always would face (what I thought was) the altar, genuflect and look at the big crucifix up there, always, when I did this. I’m a bit confused now based on your explanation in the very beginning about whether one should genuflect or bow before an altar or Tabernacle. After your explanation, I’m not sure I ever even really knew what an Altar actually was! Also, I most certainly knew nothing of a Tabernacle. Either I was never taught about that or my ADD was kicked into high gear that day when it was. I always thought the Altar of a church was just the raised platform in the front of the church where the ceremony was performed, you know, basically just the whole front of the church that was raised up higher than where the rest of us congregants sat in our pews. Am I right in now assuming I am wrong here? Would you, Father Mike, or anyone else, please be kind enough to enlighten me? What, actually, is an Altar? What is a Tabernacle? And how do I know whether I should genuflect or bow?You DO speak fast, Father and it’s endearing how excited you get talking about everything but even though I tried rewatching a few times, I just couldn’t quite grasp the concept of how you know for sure which to do and I want to be sure I’m doing the right thing for the right reasons. Thanks to anyone who can shed some light for me here.
This world is in desperate need of more priests like you Father! Thank you so much. You are in my prayers!

If the church lets them marry, which God did not forbid, then you'll get more priests. ✌🇦🇺
Me too🤗hes not as energetic as he waa in his latest videos.
@@sabah4123 That's not true. The Byzantine Catholics do that and still have a priest shortage.

Very nice! Thank you, Father Mike. I will remember this: humility, service, and love.
Really inspiring to kneel for Communion too;)
And there's a lot catholic stuff in LOTR, each time I read/watch it I discover more.
Yes J.R.R Tolkien, the guy who wrote the books, was a devote Catholic. He subtly uses analogies to God and the Angels in his books.
"Out of the darkness of my life, so much frustrated, I put before you the one great thing to love on earth: the Blessed Sacrament... There you will find romance, glory, honour, fidelity, and the true way of all your loves on earth, and more than that: Death.

Oh yes, he was a catholic ;)
I have seen that in Anglican churches from time to time.
The spirit moves you, you speak with from the heart! I may go to tears now genuflecting at the next mass now after seeing this.

I am learning.Grew up always kneeling in front of the altar and only bow when I receive Jesus during the Holy Communion.
Thanks Fr. Mike!
Thank you, Fr Mike, you do so much for those listening!
Thank you Fr Mike! God bless you! Ave Maria!
Always keep learning the truth of Jesus Christ our lord and saviour Amen 🙏
Don't change Fr Mike!!! We love you!!!
U are one of a kind , I appreciate u. Truly thankful
Thank you so much for all of your videos. You do a great job explaining our faith. And I love your energy!
Fr Mike thank you for making me understand why some persons kneel before they enter the pew.
I look forward to your visit to my parish in June. Praying that I will be able to attend.
Thank you father for your words of wisdom.
I love your enthusiasm! I have a wonderful priest that gives great homilies but he puts me to sleep with his extremely calm way of speaking. You are wonderful and I love all of your videos! God bless you :-)
I just love how you come across. Like one of us.... thank you
“Doing the motions with meaning.” Wow! That sheds so much light. Is that why we should kneel when we pray?
This is great to see! More reverence to Our Lord present in the Holy Eucharist is needed.
We love that you care Father, thank you.
Thanks Fr. Mike. This is an awesome video! Bless you and your ministry.

Thank you father Mike, God bless you too 🙏💜
I remember you discussing this in the Teaching Mass you led with Fr. Tim on his youtube channel. My girlfriend is Catholic, and that really helped me understand what was going on during the Mass, thank you so much Fr. Mike!
You bet, Eli!
Father I love the way you describe things
God bless Father, thanks again.
My mother was educated by the Sisters of Mercy who taught her and she me, to pray when genuflecting, "Jesus, I adore You in the Blessed Sacrament." And I'm starting to get a bit of arthritis in my knee so I hold onto the pew as I genuflect.
Keep up the verve Father. It is uplifting to listen to your spiel and guidance.
Or it could also mean, "not my humility, not my service, not my love, oh Lord, but in Your faithfulness, grace and mercy, I bow.'
lol Catholic instincts at the movies
Thank you, Father!
Thank you for the insight, God bless!
Another amazing video father Mike! I am praying for you to keep persevering and inspiring us all!! May God bless you!!

You're welcome May! God bless you!
Fr. Mike thank you
