Hey MCM, can I suggest you guys rebuild the gearbox for an episode in the future, there not hard to strip down, throw a set of bearing and synchros at it, and replace any gears and shafts with chunks missing. Not terribly hard, but very a satisfying job, that I'm sure your viewer base would really get a kick out of.

I have a CB that I use on the occasional off road trip. Instead of hardwiring it, i put a cigarette lighter plug on the power wires. Then you can just plug it into the 12v plug when you need it. then mount it to the windshield with a suction cup mount and run the antenna line though the door seal to a magnetic mount antenna. it's all quick to remove and store when I don't need it.
I've always defined it as "antenna" being the description of a component, like a capacitor or diode. an aerial is a type of antenna, specifically one that is out in the air. so, the stick on your bull bar, or a bit of wire out your window tied to a tree, or your TV antenna are all aerials. there are other ways of turning radio waves into electricity (which is what an antenna does). your smartphone, playstation controller, garage door openers all have antennas in them, but not aerials.
