This is really good info compiled into a well-explained video.
For the longest time I had dismissed soul crystals, crafting etc as game mechanics (dunno why, they're referred to in the lore quite often after all). Only in Shadowbringer did I realize that it's part of in-game reality.
This video clears up some remaining questions I had so thank you for that.

It doesn't make sense that Aether comes from hydaelyn's lifeblood considering that Zodiark was created before her using Aether. Unless I'm misinterpreting
Ah yea it can be a bit confusing because Hydaelyn can mean one of two things: either the primal, or it can be used as a term to refer to the world of FFXIV, since Hydaelyn is the name of the star as well.*
When I say "aether is the lifeblood of Hydaelyn" it could be rephrased to "aether is the lifeblood of the world (of FFXIV)."
*"Eorzea" is obviously more recognizable and still used by a lot of people to refer to FFXIV's world (hence the title) but it's also inaccurate since its basically just one continent, and doesnt cover all the other areas of the Source. You could also use the term "the Source" but then you exclude the other shards. So calling the world of FFXIV "Hydaelyn" is the safest thing if you want to refer to the entire game's world.
Though something interesting about what you said: yeah as you pointed out, aether existed long before Hydaelyn or Zodiark (since the ancients were using it for creation magic and such). But since Hydaelyn did cause the world and us to become fragmented, it's entirely possible that the way aether works could have been fundamentally changed as a result of this. Well, obviously we see this in game with stuff like how much weaker fragmented individuals are, but I wonder if there were more things that were altered. Hard to say for sure until we get more information.
