I stand here as one who spent many years as a QWOPer in my early school ages. I come to tell you and any others of the new age who have uncovered the relic to turn around, and close this tab. Close this tab, and all the other tabs you have open and filled with youtube videos of other QWOPing techniques. And for the love of all that is sacred and holy, close that godforsaken QWOP tab. This game is highly addicting, and yet there is no enjoyment involved in it. I managed to escape it's grips, so can you, brethren. It's calls are tempting, the urge to relapse becomes almost unbearable at times, but we must persevere to escape this cursed game. This nightmare. This hellscape we call... QWOP.

This strategy works out pretty well. I was able to march the full 100 meters. I'm still practicing running but so far, my best while running is 51.9. UPDATE: Finally able to do the full 100 meters while running. New best is 101 since I was able to do the long jump at the end.

I just finished Portal 1 & 2 a few months ago (I missed the boat when they first came out) and now I've moved on to GTA5 and ARMA3.

Oddly, I found that different browsers can actually affect the game. When I tried doing this on Chrome, that first step just never worked. Instead of that sort of quick lunge that gives you the initial momentum, like in the video (where the guy's foot actually stretches decently far past the starting line) he'd do this sort of funky slow movement, and his foot would always land barely past the line... and he'd inevitably end up flipping over upon doing the next stride. After like 20 minutes of this I switched to a different browser, and saw that now it'd give me that first movement exactly as in the video. So... that's weird. Still, I got to 25 meters pretty fast.
Same on firefox, on firefox ,and I presume google chrome, I noticed a decrease in gravity strength (compared to microsoft edge). I was able to actually be good at qwop with this method in microsoft edge because of that.
to all you saying this doesnt work: the creator/creators of QWOP changed the physics a while after this video. please check the release date of the video before you go and hate it.
Thank you, UltraStorm. I wasn't aware of the algorithm change. Sure enough, when I play QWOP online now the marching doesn't seem to work the same way. The good news is that running hasn't changed. If you still have the downloadable QWOP for desktop then you can learn to run by marching first and then transition to the online game.

Every time I do my left stride, i kick my leg up but all of a sudden, my whole body flips upside down an I die. I still haven't been able to get pass 3 metres because of this. Can you give me some tips to help me?

When I play QWOP these days, which isn't often, I do the running move just as shown in this video. They changed the game mechanics and marching no longer works, but the QP and WO chords are still valid. With 10 minutes of practice I can reach the hurdle. That's usually when I get bored and move on.
ok im gonna see how this does. first tried the march. i got to almost 10 meters, which is better than last time second tried the march. i end up falling backwards before 10 meters. still need more practice, but works well third tried the march. i cant even move anymore? 4. cant even get to 2 meters 5. tried being more patient. cant get to 5 meters. 6. 2 minutes after 5 i broke 10 meters ;u; 7. its been about 8-9 minutes. i got to 9 a few times, broke 5 usually. it varies. i make a lot of small mistakes. i need more practice, now is break time will update soon
I just can't do it the only way I was moving was I ended up with one knee on the ground and the heel of the other foot down then I slowly scoot through pushing the hurdle the whole way
I found myself doing it in an automatic looking for the clutch. God knows how you're supposed to drive those automatic cars they're supposed to be easier but they just don't make any sense to me whatsoever. Manual transmission all the way
11.1m is my Personal best, not by running though, I can get my Qwopper to do the splits and then just use Q and W I can shimmy him down the track for a while. "It's all in the thighs"
I won by doing a split and using my toes to tip my way to the end. If you're wondering how I jumped over the final obstacle, I didn't. I stretched my toe to the end while doing a split over the obstacle.
WO works when you take one step but anything you do after makes you flip backwards and die, I've tried every combination after that, I tried to time it, I've been trying for 2 hours. It doesn't work.
you can actually jump the hurdle. I haven’t actually done it, but on occasion I accidentally make the runner go high enough that he would have been able to clear the hurdle if it was there.
Oh, yeah. You can totally jump the hurdle if you want to. I have done it but it throws off your stride. That's why I recommend running through the hurdle.
beat the game by cheesing it with my own method, works like a charm; ( when both of his legs are spread and holding his body up, tap wo and qp slowly and surely inching your way to the end, worth 20 minutes )
I found it much easier to perform these moves in 2QWOP as opposed to QWOP. If you wanna practice, go to 2QWOP! It's faster and has much better physics from my experiences.

As viewer @UltraStorm pointed out, the QWOP developer changed the game mechanics after this video was made. The whole section on Marching no longer works and I haven't found a good substitute for beginners. The good news is that Running still works exactly as before. From the starting blocks, tap O briefly so that his left foot moves about a foot behind the starting line. Pause while his weight shifts forward and then do a Q+P stride. From there, follow the instructions on Running. I'm sorry but it's going to take some practice to go from zero skills to Running.
So the purpose of the game was to illustrate how complicated running actually is in real life? That it's not just about alternating your legs but actually paying attention to where your leading foot strikes and how to pace your gait? Wow, this game might be frustrating, but its idea is actually quite nice.
Yeah, I never bought into that explanation that this is a real life running simulation. It's probably closer to a simulation of how hard it is to be a good marionettist.

I dont get it, like has the game been updated at all in all these years to explain this difference in behavior??

I confirmed Marching no longer works and I haven't found a good substitute for beginners. Running still works as shown in the video. When I play QWOP nowadays, which isn't often, I'm able to run to the hurdle after a few warmup attempts.
what can I say... I managed to run the whole 100 meters in 12mins before seeing this video... but with these mechanics... I just stared at the screen deducing the movements for 5mins... then I practiced and reached the end...I'm shocked.
So i tried running, then became a gold medal gymnast with all the back flips im able to do.

when you start, the guy rocks forward and back. do it when you lean forward.

I just got Qwop in the splits position and rapidly tapped q and p. If Qwop can't move press q so he can start moving again.

I once got to 50M but didn't know there was a hurdle, My split technique stops working at 50M for me, some people might be able to get past it though.

To get in the marching position I first had to swing Q then tap P? W and O is a death sentence.

if you're doing backflips, try playing the game on a different site, this doesn't work as consistently on newer versions
im playing on a 2008 to 2015 version and its still backfliping me

This is for the flash version though, the HTML 5 version works differently, u can't start like this.

The running doesn't work. You just make a single stride and your other toe hits the floor and leans you forward at an angle that is impossible to fix.
