Never heard of such a thing as Fingered Harmonics until I talk to a lady at church. She told me about them as I only played Natural Harmonics. I didn't take my violin with me to church services and wanted to understand what Fingered Harmonics were. My husband went on youtube and whala, he click on your video and it was soooo helpful. Will take some work but another beast to conquer. Thanks again.

I'm glad I know now I mean I didn't know that but when I played something like that I thought it was Indian sound. But I'm glad you put it up because our teacher barely teach anything she just give us music and tell us to shut up so now I'm trying to teach myself and my classmates in orchestra to play like the high schoolers and college people play like.

Please explain why my tuner always says it’s a G note but sheet music seems to show one of the harmonic points as a fifth or D note (Using the example of G harmonics) Can you explain the overtones and why most of them seem to register as the root but occasionally other intervals? Also, I recently realized that harmonics work better if the root note is droned on another string while lightly tapping it’s harmonic. Is that necessary or can harmonics just be droning from one part of a string with it’s other side of tapped harmonic point? When I pluck the string below an index finger of the plucking hand, I can make artificial harmonic notes but I can’t seem to get enough volume to play a clear melody with harmonics. Any tips to get enough volume or is just that harmonics must be soft? If so, why is that? One last question. Are all the doublestops and chords technically “harmonics”? What is the difference between pleasing intervals and “harmonics”?
Good question! Please, post it on this video's dedicated page on VSM, so Prof. Fitzpatrick can answer you: www.virtualsheetmusic.com/experts/william/harmonics/
