    Thank you so much.This is exactly what I needed. A clear explanation on how to make these strokes, and how they actually sound on the violin. Professor Fitzpatrick you are not only a good musician , but a great teacher. That is why you are a professor. Blessings!

    I have a bad habit of locking my wrist in the violin bow hand. Are there any bow excercises to get out of this bad habit? Also seems like my fingers grio the violin bow to tightly my pinky finger seems to be double jointed and my pinky finger would bend and not be straight unless it is firmly placed on the violin bow.
    Thanks,
    Dr. Fitzpatrick
    Paul

    What is the stroke denoted with a dot an a line above the note?

    • @virtualsheetmusic
      @virtualsheetmusic  3 роки тому

      It is a stroke between staccato and tenuto... little nuances in violin playing!

    You've totally confused me! you said largato uses fingers 2 and 3 . Then say spiccato uses legato pressure points but then say 1 and 3.

      Staccato = 1 and 3
      Legato = 2 and 3
      Sautille = 2 and 3

      i've been trying to learn how to bounce my bow, i had no idea i needed to change my hold on the bow.

    • @ivyssauro123
      @ivyssauro123 5 років тому

      @@treatb09 Try applying pressure, believe it or not, with the fourth finger, the pinky.
      It will lift the weight of the bow a little, and make it float kind of, between bowings.
