Ironically, I actually consider New Technology/Gray Skies to be the best iteration so far, despite sounding more like a credits theme in AOE1 than a title screen. The Hunt was more apt for AOE1, and then later, AOE1 DE got its own New Technology remake to replace The Hunt in the style of AOE2 and AOE3, which both use the Age of Empires Theme as their title/main theme. It's a beautiful tale, actually, and reminds me of the Fire Emblem Theme, which regularly appears in mainline Fire Emblem games.
I always loved AoE 1s soundtrack, and I think it is better than AoE2s.

Midi tracklist surely did not contained it.
I had AoE 1 only with midi.
I had RoR with CD track and it did not had it.
But of course i know the intro variant. :D
I have an old CD version from my father and it's there, not RoR, just the original AoE 1
