- quick video of part of our trip around Europe in June. We did 11 countries in 2 weeks. Please don't expect any stunt riding, if so you may want to skip this video. This is purely us touring, enjoying the scenery, and filming as much as poss of it all.. Further edits will be uploaded soon.
Helmet cam is Drift HD Ghost, and other shots are from Panasonic X900.
Good quality video man.....realy enjoyed it..and no music...out there a couple years ago..amazing places to ride and see ....thanks
Unbelievable scenery! I'd love to take the FJR up there! Top video again Richy. Thank you.
Friggin' awesome. Nice work, nice ride Richy. Thanks!
Enjoying all your biking videos, a lot of these places in Europe I have been in the 80s and 90s - but in those days we only had steam powered cameras.
Your occasional commentary is very engaging and not intrusive.
Damn, this is absolutely gorgeous! Now I have to figure out a way to get back to Italy and rent a bike to ride Stelvio! Thanks for filming this! 12:40 is my new wallpaper.
LOL at the tunnel horns and revs!
Great video i definitely doing that ride next year.thanks for sharing your videos are great

Omg being watching your videos by random amazing
Riding in wa Australia doesn’t come close lucky bugger
Looking forward to watching more stay safe 🇳🇿
I will drive to the Stelvio begin September. I really like your style of riding, not fast, enjoying the scenery. I will have a small bike holiday from Belgium, Luxemburg, Germany, Switzerland, Italy. After that I will also do the Grossglockner and the following day back to Belgium with a little stay in Germany.
12:40 wow, I'm going to need to do this at some point :) watching all these older vidoes who would have guessed only a couple of years later yours and egones bikes will have ridden across the USA :)
Absolutely stunning man as someone who lives in the U.S. It's only a dream of mine to take my Mini Cooper s up and down that road!
Wow, doing the Stelvio in a Mini Cooper would be F'in awesome!!! Glad you enjoyed. We'll be there again in about 3 wks! ;-)
que buen video, lo he disfrutado mucho!
nice one, did the Stelvio last year for the first time also, same direction.
What a stunning ride!
Good video that chief. Liked it a lot
Sei simpaticissimo !
Nice video, beautiful landscape.. makes me wanna take the motorcycle license :P
Thanks Svein. Take it, as soon as possible! You will not look back ;-)
awesome ride !
Think the whole trip was awesome, would like to do it one day👍
Hi, cheers for your comment. Yeah, well it's the Drift HD Ghost camera, and i got the external mic too, which is routed into my helmet, placed directly in front of my mouth, velcro'd to the inside of the helmet - probably about 2 cm away from my mouth..
@ithinkiunderstand it was on a Honda VFR800 Vtec. Had it over 2yrs now and absolutely love it!
great vid.. if you ever pass through Bormio again.. Would recommend it.. Gavia Pass awesome....
Looks like a great ride! did you use an external mic? most cameras have crap mics but the sound clarity on your video is amazing
Great pass!!! We toured in the alps last year, great riding.
I recommend you try touring in Japan too guys, it is awesome! :)
Cheers. Would love to try Japan! Maybe look into it for the next big one!
+RichyVida You should try! great roads, food, people, hot springs, super safe. Its a motorcycle paradise :)
Thanks Txyko. I may well just look into that!
Thanks for the video. Sold! I'm doing Stelvio 26th April. What are the must do's and the must miss's for the area please mate. Don't wanna get back and then find out I was 25 mile from something awesome.
Cheers RichyTourGuide :-)
After the Norway stuff I'm working back now, great videos. We were considering Stelvio for 2016 but heard it can get busy, what time of day did you ride?We rode the Col de L'Iseran in 2014 (naff vid on my channel) but I believe that is slightly higher, not got the fantastic view back down the pass mind. Thanks again for sharing.
+Banditmanuk I think it was early afternoon when we went up. Wasn't too busy. We had it to ourselves on the way down the next morning!
awesome
you missed the tibet Hütte a little up at the Stelvio top, a great view and a great place to eat.
Nope. We had dinner in there, that night 👍🏼
Where on Stelvio? I missed it.
My friends and i have this in the middle of our tour in June this year, should be there on 7th. Cant wait, we're all excited like bloody kids in a sweetshop.
Spending between 14 and 17 days, depending how we feel. We will be shooting footage, and having a ball.
Inspired by Vida, produced by eejits !
Haha that should be on a T shirt! ;-)
+RichyVida. I might put it on one, then you can buy stuff from me for a change !
😂
Wow Brill Vid mate! Hope to go there next year. Drift HD Ghost works well too eh?
Hi Steve. Thanks for your comment, glad you enjoyed it! You must go and ride this pass, it's superb. Just remember to take it steady as the altitude really messes with you and your bike! The Ghost is great, yes. Poor thing has some hammer, but I guess that is what it's for hey?!
In which month were you there? Were there many cyclists? I've seen many video of east-west in motorcycle. There are so many cyclists and that ruins the journey. I know they save the world, but come on! Anyway I'm gonna be there next month. Have you got any suggestion? I can't wait to drive.
i'm making trip in italy in august and i also like to visit the stelvio pass, so i just wanted to ask you what type of equipment did you ware on that trip? is it to cold to ride with summer jacket? (i dont have 4 season jacket or pants nither my gf)
any tips will be apriciated.
regards
ivan
+Ivan Nisotovski hi Ivan. No, you should be fine in summer riding gear. Even though there's snow, it's still very warm. I hope you have a great, safe trip!
+RichyVida Thanks Richy! Now let's hope the weather will serve me good and no rains will be in the forecast. 😀 Btw do you plan some trip for this summer?
nice mate
Please can someone help - where do these guys start and where do they finish? I know where the Stelvio Pass is but want to do it the same way round as these guys...which end do I start? Thanks for any help!
AFAIK, RichyVida started on the road from the west, near Bormio. This is the relatively easier route than the road from the east (starting in Prad). You can start from the east, do the 48(!) hairpins, have lunch at Bruno's and take the west road down. Partway down there's a road that turns off to the north (only turnoff until you're near Bormio). Follow that into Switzerland and the Engadin region. Follow the road over Umbrailpass to Santa Maria Val Muestair then head out of town to the NE. That takes you to Glorenza/Glurns. Check it out!
hello, next year ım planning to go Stelvio pass on this way. but a lots of type road to arrive that. could you tell me which way did you go? or send map with google maps. thanks a lot
Nice video, im looking into this trip for next year. How many miles were you averaging on a daily basis and was you motorway surfing a lot to eat miles? Did you find two weeks was long enough? Cheers
We had been down to Dubrovnik in Croatia before heading here. We did a bit of mile-crunching, but not much. I think we did about 2 days worth in 14. But that was only because we decided to have an extra day off in Dubrovnik. 2 weeks is plenty. We aim to leave camp after breakfast, around 8am, and plan to be at our next camp for 5pm at the latest. This is having refreshment breaks too. I think we totalled around 4000 mile on this trip.
Thanks for the info, is Croatia worth the trip aswell? It's a case of so much to see not enough time to squeeze it all in. But we are going to be away for 2 weeks aswell so want to get in as much as possible. Cheers again
Mate you have to do Croatia, it's superb. The coast road from Split to Dub is perfect. Motorcycle Ride in Beautiful Croatia
There are a few from our Croatia tour on my channel, and also a full day to day series of this years Euro trip
That's great cheers I'll check out ya other videos now, thanks again.
Hi, What was the temperature up there ? I`m going there in july... can`t wait..
Well, for saying it was 30 plus down at the bottom, i'd say it was about 5-8 at the top. You will frickin love it!
Hi I rode stelvio this summer and had a mare. Couldn't hussle my Triumph Sprint 1050 ST around the right hand turns, just too tight. Had to go on the wrong side of road which mention dodging on coming traffic. Notice your video hasn't got any of the right handers on.
Great video.I'm going June this year.
Thanks Iain. I think we'll be there again at some point, probably July this year. Awesome place...
RichyVida Good Stuff! How'd you have the Cam mounted?
I use several different points now, but this vid it was attached to the side of my helmet, with the Drift clip and one of the sticky mounts - super strong, so wouldn't worry about them coming off. I have placed one under the nose cone of the VFR too, that gives a fantastic POV, all the lean angles look brilliant. Sometimes use the Panavise suction cup on the fairing as well.
I use the Drift Ghost. Which one do you have?
RichyVida I have a Go Pro cam.I have used it on the Bike(Triumph Trophy)but I'm beginning to think the Drift cam may be better for Biking.I bought the Go Pro initially for Sea Kayaking.I think the Drift may be better for Helmet mounting and I really like how you were able to have the mic inside the helmet and give real time commentary!
Yeah. I know people swear by the GoPro, but, for me, it's the Drift Ghost everytime. fully rotatable lens, so you can mount wherever you like, then just re-zero the horizon..
looks awesome roll on july, what month did you do it pal?
Mid June dude.. When in July are you going? We will be back in Europe throughout July too ;-)
13th july mate group of about 7 of us going from Yorkshire area
awesome! We're leaving here on 6th. Sailing to Santander, doing Picos De Europa a couple days, then heading up through Pyrenees, into Dolomites, then onto to a base camp in Austria, for another week, of daily ride outs with no luggage on, and back to camp. Ya'll have to stay in touch, we may be in same area at same time!
RV
Ye sounds good pal, were hoping to do stelvio on the 15th then head down to lake como
Great stuff.. Stay in touch mate
what month of the year was that
hello:) ı want to make this trip but what is the right time ?june, july or agust?
HI Ozden. Thanks for your comment. Well, this video was shot in early June 2013 and, as you can see, it's not too over populated. We are going again this year, but mid July this time, so will see if there's a big difference.
Great place to ride though, you must do it at some point!
Richy V
Thank you Richy:)good travel to you,ı hope ı'll be there at the beginnig of agust ,enjoy:)
It’s a nice video, but the most challenging part of the pass has been edited out. The top section on the Italian side is not a pleasant ride - the road is narrow, the surface is sh!t and in summer it is very, very crowded. Riders descending the pass will use the full width of the road to get round the hairpins, with little regard for the riders coming up. We had several incidents where bikers were coming down 3 or 4 abreast, meaning you have to stop on the apex of the turn to let them through. It’s nice to be able to say you’ve ridden it, but there are many, many nicer passes in that part of the world (Albula, Furka, Flüela, etc. ).
Awesome video, brings back memories, of me on my GSA doing the pass a few years ago, I also did a vid of it that's on UA-cam, check it out if you will, Nice view from the hotel window cool
Cheers Eric.. Ya never realise just how awesome though whilst ya there! Subbed ya
;-)
Nice video indeed, remarkably good sound. Concerning the view from the hotel room : it got better as from the moment the cameraman got out of the picture ;-)
hahaha great comment Sudolea thanks! (must remember not to do that too often) haha great stuff
Fucking Coool pass. I was there on Yamaha T-max. in 2011
Stelvio the sissie way up
🤦♂️
That was the south side of the Stelvio , not really the most exciting part.
Tis good but IMHO there are better (read less traffic, better surfaced) passes to ride!
I blame "Top Gear" ;-)
Why the edited " highlights". What happened on all the right hand turns? WORST riding experience of my life. How you're supposed to get round safely on your side of the road was beyond me.
+william walton the full series is on here William. Check my playlists. What do you mean re the right turns?
this must be awesome experience, I'm planning go there next year with my new Fazer FZ6 :)
